I have been getting quite excited. Tomorrow there is going to be a partial eclipse of the sun, and from where I live in South East England, we should be able to see it 85% covered.
Now I remember 16 years ago when we had a total eclipse of the sun. I worked for a brochure distribution company in the offices, and the whole lot of us went outside to see this wonderful phenomenon; I was so glad to have been able to have experienced it.
Anyway, back to tomorrow. I was supposed to be working, but am owed some annual leave. I was thrilled when the boss said I could take it tomorrow as I have more chance of being able to go outside and look at the eclipse. I was cross with Mr Grump though as I had asked him to get me some of those special glasses so I can look at the sun without burning my eyes out and they have apparently ‘sold out’!
Never mind, no doubt I will find some way of seeing it with my eyes left intact! Or so I thought. Having just watched the evening news and weather forecast for 09:30 tomorrow morning when the big event takes place, I see that the weather is going to be very similar to today.
Grey, cloudy, drizzle, no sun, no bugger all! You can always rely on good old British weather to spoil an occasion!
Oh dear – – you and I will definitely have to agree to disagree about the benefits of gray, cloudy drizzle! Anyhow, did you know that you can easily make something yourself to view an eclipse? My enginerd son showed me once. http://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/make-pinhole-projector.html
Have fun!

When I lived in Seattle people would tell us of all sorts of things occurring in the sky that I knew we’d never get the chance to see. Here is hoping it is clear and fun for you.

Have I ever told you I love how you title your posts? Fab 🙂
On a sad note, I have never ever witnessed an eclipse. Just the birds and animals gave it away…

Thanks Prajakta. For me the title is so important so it is great when I get that right!
Oh, it is a wonderful experience seeing an eclipse, I do hope you get the opportunity one day, 🙂

That’s to bad about the weather, unfortunately where I live we never get to see eclpises, solar or lunar. It seems like we’re either to far east, north, south, west or it’s just cloudy! Maybe someday!

the first year I taught grade one (1977) there was a total eclipse. It was amazing.
I don’t think we can see it here, but I will pray for sun for you tomorrow so you can report back to your blogging family.
