Now that I’ve given up smoking
And have long since ditched all the booze
I see no need for resolutions
They only give me the blues
I hardly have any vices
I gave them all up long ago
Except of course over-eating
I never know when to say no!
I always eat lots for comfort
When I am under duress
Then get mad when I find out
That I am bursting out of my dress!
I need to find some new ideas
To kick off twenty-sixteen
So I can stop all this gorging
And go from stocky to lean
I have to find motivation
To make it all a success
Then, this time next year
I will weigh a couple of stone less!
It is already fantastic that you quit smoking, Judy! I never smoked but I can understand how hard it must be to resist the craving. Well done! And with the same discipline you will achieve also this challenge… which I can relate to a lot more…lol!

You need something to treat you or to motivate you for every time you remained strong!

The only New Years Resolution I have is to not get bleach spots on my clothes for an entire year.

Every line of this could have been written about me… Except perhaps for the bit about the dress!
Hope 2016 is a rewarding year for you, in every way 🙂

Loved your poem and goal(s) for 2016, Judy. You can do it!!! Words of motivation for me the ‘carb monster.’

I’m on a destination to eat less carbs and more veggies. 🙂

Same here! I know it is carbs that is my downfall. I have seen something on the diabetes newsletter I get about a low carb diet, so am going to dig it out and have a good look at it.

I have so many vices it’s hard to know where to start! You have done brilliantly to give up smoking, and have changed your workplace at the same time. Skinny does not always equate with healthy and/or happy. But whatever it is you seek in 2016, I hope you find it, and will enjoy being there to share the ride. Xx

This is me!
Judy E Martin
Hello, and thanks for stopping by. I am Judy, in my (very) early fifties and decided that life definitely gets more interesting as it goes on! I am a wife and a mum and have just finished University as a Registered Nurse, after having worked as an Associate Practitioner in the NHS. I am also a poet and the author of my debut book, 'Rhymes of the Times.' I love to laugh, and I love rhyming words too, so I joined the two together, and my book was born. I am currently working on another book in the series also. I am a prolific blogger and enjoy writing funny stories, anecdotes, and anything really that takes my fancy.
