Anti-Social, I have No Pinterest In Tweeting on Linked in! — November 14, 2017

Anti-Social, I have No Pinterest In Tweeting on Linked in!

I try using Social Networks

To bring people over to my blog

But being so tech-illiterate

I feel like I’m lost in the fog.

Linked in is more like locked out

I don’t really know what to do

Twitter makes me bitter

As I haven’t got a clue!

Pinterest lost my interest

Many months ago

On Instagram, I have no likes

Because I am so slow.

Facebook I can cope with

I don’t get in a rage

I’d love for you to visit

And  ‘like’ my Facebook page!

Episode 491: Tweets to Inspire — September 11, 2015

Episode 491: Tweets to Inspire

Social media seems to be so popular now, that if you are not using it then you are seriously missing out on a whole new audience.

For today’s Writing 101 task, we are taking our inspiration from quotes that have been posted on Twitter. There were five inspirational quotes, each on a different topic that we could choose from. The quote above regarding education is the one that resonated most with me.

I love to learn new things, whether it be something work related, like administering intravenous drugs, or showing off a dress or skirt that I had made from scratch (actually I am not at this stage yet, even though I have made a few items of clothing)! Life is full or new and interesting things for us to try.

For me, learning fulfils my thirst for knowledge, but it is one that will never be fully quenched as I find something else that I need to learn about! This is why this quote is so apt, no matter how much I have studied and think I know,in the grand scheme of things, I am still pretty ignorant!

I am going to be embarking on a new job soon, which will involve yet more learning, plus I am going to undertake a huge project soon which is going to be my biggest challenge yet. All of this is going to involve intense learning, There will no doubt be tears, frustration, a good dose of swearing, and stomping about, but I can’t wait to get started!

Episode 251: Hacked Off! — March 25, 2015

Episode 251: Hacked Off!

Isn’t it great how schools now have got with the times, make the most of the latest technology and have Twitter accounts etc. I am constantly checking on my daughter’s progress via the school website. I can read all her school reports (they can’t get ‘lost’ like mine did at times), I can see whether or not she is late for any of her lessons (she has been several times, as she never feels the need to hurry grrrrrrrrrr) and can look at how many positive events she has (lots actually which I am very proud about).

Anyway,I remember that just before she started the school, their website got hacked and some rather dodgy ‘glamour’ models appeared on it instead, advertising certain services that the school would not encourage in their young ladies!

Well, it got sorted, but now a similar hoo-ha has broken out over another school’s Twitter account. Someone has decided that their headmaster would look pretty good in a fetching pair of tight underpants, with a few macho tattoos to show off, so they superimposed his head onto a fit, muscular male body and wrote a caption congratulating the head on his new contract with an Adult Entertainment site!

This has not gone down well (if you, ahem pardon the pun) with the school or some of the parents! Apparently they have shut it down whilst enquiries are being made to try to discover the culprit(s).

It has been suggested though that the school’s IT department be praised if indeed a pupil is found to have been the perpetrator, due to their superior hacking skills!

Episode 155: Nasty ‘Pizza’ Work! — February 10, 2015

Episode 155: Nasty ‘Pizza’ Work!

Oh I love Social Networking, it is great to catch up with news on Facebook of friends you haven’t seen for years; It’s fantastic to stay in touch with family that live far away. It seems to be the perfect way to end a relationship as well! We have all heard of those poor unfortunate souls who were ‘in a relationship’ one minute, and then found out that their other half has suddenly become ‘single’.

Why bother with long drawn out discussions of ‘it’s not you,it’s me’ and ‘I think we should have a little break’ when you can just do away with the whole relationship in a click of the mouse!

Another advantage of social media sites is the open party invitation. How many have heard horror stories of teenagers being left alone for the weekend by trusting parents, only to come home Sunday afternoon to virtually no house left. and a teenager with an ASBO?(Anti-Social Behaviour Order).

I am still not that great with Twitter, but even I understand there are some things which are better not plastered all across the Internet for all to see. There is one young lady though who apparently hasn’t grasped this concept, and managed to get herself into a spot of bother.

She had recently applied and had been accepted for a job working in a pizza restaurant. As is the norm with most young people, she wanted to share her news, so decided to Tweet about it.  It turned out though that she was not overly excited about her new job and her words were, ‘Ew I start this f**k ass job tomorrow’.

Now this might have impressed all her trendy mates, but unfortunately, someone at the restaurant saw the tweet and told the boss. He understandably, took exception to her description of the job and her lacklustre attitude and promptly did a little tweet of his own. He fired her!

She then actually phoned the pizza place to confirm this. as she couldn’t believe it! Apparently. although she missed out on free pizza and a cushy job, she wasn’t bothered. She sent the boss a little cartoon pic of her with lots of money. I bet someone who  really needed that job was pleased that there are some silly people around!
