It is thought that most of us have a ‘doppelganger’ somewhere out in the big wide world. For one man, he actually got to meet his, purely by chance!
A retired clergyman was shocked when he moved to a different county and people kept waving and smiling at him as if they knew him. He realised that it wasn’t just friendliness on their part as they kept referring to him by a different name!
After a couple of months of this, the puzzled man decided to ask the cafe owner (who also addressed him by the wrong name) what as going on! The cafe owner was shocked that the man didn’t seem to know him, and that he wasn’t called ‘John’ either that he had been referring him as. He even had to get out his driving licence to prove it!
It turned out that John also lived in the town and had done for over fifty years. This explained to the Clergyman (called Neil) the case of mistaken identity and he thought no more about it, despite being a little intrigued as to what this John looked like.
Not long later, Neil went on a coach trip to the British Library Museum. He heard someone mention the name ‘John’ and he craned his neck to get a better view. He could actually see the resemblance himself, and they had in fact, got a lot in common!
Not only do they have similar taste in clothes (the pic was taken on the day of the coach trip), but they had actually studied at the same College and followed careers as RE teachers! They also have similar interests in Amateur Dramatics and writing poetry, and have now become firm friends!
How would you feel if you met up with your ‘twin?’ Personally I think I would be a bit freaked out!

How amazing! Apparently there are around 6-7 people around the world that look like you….

I would feel sorry for one poor bugger that looked like me, let alone 6 or 7!

I think these two should have the blood tested for DNA…they may be twins given up for adoption (one or both) and don’t know it!!! It’s just too much that is similar, not just how they look.

Yes, there are a whole lot of similarities. Maybe they have thought of getting DNA done themselves, as they are apparently really good friends now and only live within half a mile of each other!

Definitely spooky… I have no idea what I’d say to myself!
We were talking about this last night as Lauren has a set of twins staying over for a few days… I’ve known them all their 13 years and still have to concentrate to tell them apart… We were wondering if twins have doppelgängers too!

Oh that would be weird wouldn’t it, if twins or triplets also had doppelgängers? I find the whole concept fascinating – but I still don’t think I would want to meet mine!

Depends if it would be Double Delight or Double Trouble!! My kids claim there are two of me (well at least two personalities) and the other one is referred to as My Evil Twin. This is super creepy though!

I’ve had people tell me that mine is out there. I’d like to meet her someday for sure! It might be more than my husband could handle, though.

Apparently so. They seemed to have had these parallel lives though. so creepy!

It’s weird, they say we all have a double somewhere, but if I was them, I’d get a DNA test, surely they must be related in some way

Yes I think I would get one done too.

I have had a woman at a particular store tell me that her friend looks exactly like me. I haven’t seen the person yet, but if that person really does, I think I would feel quite weird. Maybe these guys were twins and got separated? Too freaky!
