Daydreamer Challenge: Day 6: Questions From Other Bloggers. — April 11, 2015

Daydreamer Challenge: Day 6: Questions From Other Bloggers.

Today is Day 6 of the Daydreamer Challenge hosted by the lovely Caitlin. Yesterday as part of the challenge, she wanted us to post questions we would like to pose to other bloggers. She has chosen a few of those including her own first question which we are to answer for today’s challenge.

My Question – Can you believe it is coming to the end of the daydreamer challenge? No I can’ actually. I have really enjoyed these challenges, interacting with the other  participants and finding out more about them. I will be sad to see the end of it. Maybe you would consider doing another one  in the future?

Just Call Me Elm Or Something – If you had the chance to meet one of your best internet friends/favourite blogger, would you be nervous before meeting them? I think it is always meeting someone new for the first time even if you had built up a great rapport online. I would worry that we would not get on or something in reality which would spoil a great online friendship. On the other hand, it was be fantastic to be able to meet up with some of the lovely bloggers that I have a real connection with.

Bubbakavangha – How do you describe your mind? Oh my poor mind. It is a bit ‘higgledy-piggledy’ to coin a phrase! I know i go off ion tangents at times and sometimes I forget what I was going to say completely, but I do try to bring some sort of order to it!

But I Smile Anyway– Would you like one of your posts to go viral? I dd answer this one on Ritu’s blog. Yes I would love one of my poems to go viral – but then would be worried that I wouldn’t be able to live up to it!

Silver Sparkling Stories – What’s your biggest fear? Death, I won’t dwell on it, but it is a huge fear for me.

A Random Person Called Annie – How did you feel after you posted your first ever post? Nervous and excited. I didn’t actually think that anyone was going to read it – but they did and I was thrilled.

One Sip At A Time – What’s your favourite phone app? I love to play Candy Crush on my phone/tablet as I find it a great stress reliever!

K.E Wilson – Where do you draw your inspiration? From life, work, family (that’s where I get most of it from), wacky or silly news. Anything that strikes me as funny really!

Lrod’s Blog – Would you rather have your blog go viral or keep t as it is (small audience)? I think many of us would like one of our posts to go viral. However, I have a wonderful group of people who follow my blog and who I love to interact that, No way would I want to lose the friendships I have made, so definitely keep it as is.

Gess Pressing Words – What is the most awkward situation you’ve ever been in? I have been in a few embarrassing situations mainly due to me clumsiness and ineptitude! Things like being signed off for things like would dressings etc where everything has to be kept as sterile as possible, and the equipment needed is all on a sterile field. I have been in the middle of the dressing and hit something onto the floor, whilst a senior nurse looks exasperated and I then have to get clean stuff and start again!

Sophie Speaks Up – If you could have someone’s blog for a month, whose blog would it be? Oooh, I don’t know really. There are so many bloggers that I admire that I could not just choose one.

Rogue Vogue – If you were to re-write the dictionary for the year 2030, what one word would you like to change the description of, and why? I would change the word ‘clumsy’. It would mean pleasantly pleasing, or highly talented or something!

Annemarie & Life – What is your favourite part of the day? (could be a time or an activity etc.) It has got to be early morning for me. I am a real early bird. I love the silence, and being on my own to wake up! I particularly like the early summer mornings with the back door open, sitting at my laptop with a cup of tea.

Dear Awesome Reader,

It’s Day 6 of the Daydreamer Challenge! Honestly, it’s gone sooo fast! ().

Yesterday, I asked you guys to write a question at the end of the post. This is because I wanted to write down every question and you can just answer them! Easy peasy! Also, check out the blogs that gave the questions because they’re awesome! 🙂

Blogging From A-Z Challenge: ‘J’ —

Blogging From A-Z Challenge: ‘J’

The Blogging from A-Z Challenge has now arrived at my favourite letter. Yes the letter ‘J.’ This is the letter of my first name, and is rather curvy just like me! It can be jokey, or even jealous, but my word for today has a fantastic ring to it..so without further ado, let me introduce to you……

Jiggery-pokery. Although it is a fun-sounding word, it is actually rather sneaky. It tricks you with its skullduggery and lulls you into its cunning lair.

It is the smiley clown that goes to shake hands with you, and either squirts water out of a fake flower at you, or electrocutes you with a hidden buzzer in his hand!

It is the magician performing a bit of hocus pocus by making his glamorous assistant disappear in a puff of smoke, kind of a word.

Politicians are pretty good at a bit of jiggery-pokery too with their cheesy grins, promising all sorts, yet delivering nothing! A bit like my posts really! 🙂

Daydreamer Challenge: Day 5: Achievements and Goals. —

Daydreamer Challenge: Day 5: Achievements and Goals.

Today for the Daydreamer Challenge, the lovely Caitlin has asked us to talk about our achievements and goals for our blogs. (If you have not already done so please check out her blog as it is filled with lots of good things).

I am stunned at  what I have achieved so far. I have only been blogging for about 6 months, and already have over 460 followers. More importantly than that, I have built up a real rapport with a number of fellow bloggers and would actually count them as my friends. I have loved interacting with them and reading their blogs too. There is so much to learn from each other.

My favourite posts of my own (seems a bit funny to say that) are usually my poems, like this one or my attempt at a Christmas Classic here.

Other achievements include writing a Haiku for the first time, and also taking part in various challenges, oh and choosing my favourite posts of the week to share on my Free-For-All Friday post.

My goals are just to keep writing, and hopefully bring a smile to someone’s face if I can. Although I have found that writing this blog has been very cathartic for me, especially in coping with my depression, it has turned into so much more, and I truly love blogging, and all that it entails.

My question is: Have you ever taken down a post because it offended someone?

Oooh this seems a good challenge today 🙂

Dear Awesome Reader,

Day 5 is simply to tell us your achievements and goals for you blog. I wrote about mine here!

You could also link some of your favourite posts you wrote if you want to!

Also I’d like you to write a question for bloggers to answer. Don’t answer or do anything with it! (It is in preparation for tomorrow’s challenge!)

Now I’m off to a sleepover! Adios!

Episode 280: Sunny Seaside. —

Episode 280: Sunny Seaside.

Well what a beautiful day we had today. The weather was surprisingly mild for April and following on from yesterday’s spring clean, I ‘persuaded’ Mr Grump to venture into the airing cupboard (with step-ladder) and get out my summer curtains. Yes, that is how optimistic I was feeling!

Mr Grump had also been bitten by the Spring Fever bug as he decided that it would be great to have a family BBQ tomorrow, so we sent out invites (via text of course), and set about the job of tidying up the garden.

A bit of scrubbing and maneuvering later and everything looked shipshape and ready for tomorrow, It was glorious to feel the sun on my back as I was outside in just a little vest top.It certainly makes me feel better when I see a bit of sunshine.

Around lunchtime we decided to hit the coast which is only a few miles away. It was so warm down there (even with the sea breeze) that we still didn’t need a coat. There were even 2 very brave little girls in the sea in swimming cossies. The dog and Miss Hap both wimped out of going in, although Miss Hap did stick her toe in!

Of course, being at the seaside you have got to have an ice cream (well if you are a child certainly), and Miss Hap had a double 99! I was going to get some chips but did not see any, so had a pancake instead! I had cheese garlic and it nearly blew my head off. God knows how much he put in there but it was at least 2 raw cloves. I must have stunk the car out on the way home, as I was the only one to have it. I felt a bit queasy myself as I kept getting a whiff of it!

We came home then called in on my younger sister (Mrs Masterchef) and her husband (Mr Musician) plus my niece was there (Ms Beauty). They were burning some garden rubbish so we sat outside around the fire until way after dark, before going indoors for a sing-song.

What a gorgeous day. It really does seem like spring is on its way!

Free- For-All Friday #5 — April 10, 2015

Free- For-All Friday #5

Hello and welcome to my Friday Free For-All, we are on week five already! I have been busy reading lots of blogs and choosing my favourite posts for this week. As per usual, I would urge you to check out these wonderful blogs. They all have so much to offer, and I have tried to choose different types of posts that will appeal to you as they did me.

Please feel free to leave links to anything that you have come across, that you think others might also enjoy. I have had some lovely comments on here from people who have found new blogs to follow which is thrilling to hear, and I hope that continues to be the case.

So here are some posts that caught my eye this week:

Wild Daffodil. This post was lovely in so many ways. As you all probably know by now, I love words, and actually I like photos as well. Combine the two and you have a delightful, and funny post.

Dublin Housewife This blog I came across via the Blogging From A-Z Challenge I have been taking part in. Bernie is so funny, I just didn’t know which of her posts to choose as they all had me doubled up with laughter! She likes to use conversations she had with people which will have you rocking! She might use the odd swear word, just so you know!

The Offkey Of Life This post is one of those that make you think very carefully. We are all so quick to judge, and write people off. We forget that there is so much more to people than meets the eye, and we can in fact, learn something from them.

The Return of The Modern Philosopher. This blog I have not been following all that long, but it has so much going on! There are jokes, blog parties, even poems. I have chosen this post because I love the way it flows, and I love the message right at the end of it! Very touching.

Hugh’s Views and News – This is another blog that has a lot going on! Hugh is funny, very supportive of other bloggers and extremely helpful, giving out advice without getting cross at my ignorance! His blog has everything from Haikus to short stories, which is what i have chosen for this week. It is a beautiful, heart-warming story which I thoroughly enjoyed!

An Armchair Perfectionist Prajakta has written a really happy, inspirational post here about something that to me, is frankly hard to get excited about! However, such is her enthusiasm, it really shines through how much she enjoys it and how good it makes her feel. Lovely, cheery post.

Joeyfully Stated I have been following this blog for a while now. Joey writes about all sorts of things, She is funny, witty, sarcastic, and extremely articulate! I thought this post was really nice. It was something we can all relate to written in a down to earth style.

A Prompt Reply. I loved this post. It just goes to show that if you look hard enough there is beauty to be found. It is an optimistic look at what is around and being grateful for it!

Blogging From A-Z Challenge: ‘I’ —

Blogging From A-Z Challenge: ‘I’

We are about a third of the way in now on the Blogging From A-Z Challenge  and I am having a lot of fun with some of the words I have chosen. Today we have the Innocuous letter ‘I.’ Yes, it looks innocent enough, but my word can be a bit on the naughty side.

Innuendo. This word is insinuated, saying one thing but implying another. It is quite often an allusion to improper or immoral behaviour,  or a veiled reference to smutty shenanigans!

Sexual innuendo is very often hard to grasp, but the more you keep at it, the easier it comes!

It is the ‘Carry On’ kind of humour, making something out of nothing type of comment; It works even better if the person you are talking to has a dirty mind as well!

I love this kind of word, as I have a filthy mind and a cackling laugh to match. Who says humour has to be always ‘good, clean fun?!’

The Daydreamer Challenge: Day 4: Blogging Tips — April 9, 2015

The Daydreamer Challenge: Day 4: Blogging Tips

Caitlin has set us quite a tricky challenge for today in the Daydreamer’s Challenge. We are to give any blogging tips that we have learned that has either made us want to follow another blogger, or has helped us to gain followers. I am still reasonably new to blogging, and am really rubbish at the technical side of things but here are my thoughts based on my personal experience and opinions.

  • Always take time to reply to comments. I know this is obvious, but if someone has taken the trouble to comment on something that you have written that strikes a chord with them, then they deserve the courtesy of a reply. Similarly, if you read something on someone’s blog that you can relate to in some way, then try and leave a comment for them. We all like to know that someone is reading what we write, and getting comments is a wonderful way to interact with each other.
  • Enrol on a ‘Blogging 101’ course or the writing or photography course, whichever one appeals to you, This really helped me to learn some of the basics even though I had already been blogging for a few months. You get to meet lots of other bloggers and can share tips and get feedback so it is a really worthwhile thing to do.
  • Read lots of other blogs! Don’t just stick to one genre. I follow all sorts of blogs, and have learned a lot from them as well as met some interesting people.
  • For me, when I am writing a post, I just write what I am thinking. I do not aim my posts at anyone in particular (this might not apply to you if you have a niche type blog) as I feel that if I am trying to impress someone then the post will look contrived and therefore defeat the object! My posts are, I’m afraid, the product of a disorganised mind!
  • Have fun! Join in with blogging parties and meet and greets. There are lots of lovely bloggers that host these and they are a great way to promote your own blog as well as find new ones to follow.

I hope some of these tips are helpful. Of course I am by no means an authority on blogging, but have told you what I have learned from my experience.

Dear Awesome Reader,

Welcome, welcome to Day 4 of the Daydreamer Challenge! (Can you believe how quickly it’s going?!)

Don’t worry if you’re a few days behind, you can always click to see the day you missed and catch up:

Day 1, Day 2, Day 3.

Okay so what I thought we’d do today is share some tips about blogging. Now, I know that some of you may be thinking “Gosh, I haven’t been blogging long enough!” or “I don’t feel like I understand blogging enough to be giving out tips!”

But I can guarantee that you learnt many things! It might be that before, you never used to bother finding other blogs but when you did, it helped you gain not just followers, but friends too!

Simple little things like that! I’m not going to say much else as I want YOU to come up with…
