It is Ronovan’s turn this week to give us the prompt word for his and Colleen’s Writer’s Quote Wednesday Challenge and he has come up with ‘happiness.’ This quote says it all really; sometimes we are looking so hard for something, we don’t realise that it is there right under our noses!
Some of us might find happiness if we quit struggling so desperately for it!
– William Feather.
When the sun is shining
and there’s a gentle, cooling breeze
When the birds are singing
And playing in the trees.
When the flowers are blooming
With all their vibrant hues
When I have a day off work
And can get an extra-long snooze!
When I bump into an old friend
I haven’t seen for a while
When my great-niece Molly
Gives me a gummy smile
When I get to spend time
With all my family
When my husband cooks me
My favourite meal for tea!
When someone says ‘thank you’
As they know, you did your best
When I had my daughter
For that, I am truly blessed.
All these little pleasures
Are not that far away
They are things that make me happy
And brighten up my day.
Now I know why you always seem so cheerful, Judy. Lovely poem.
Thanks Diana. That is really sweet of you 🙂
Am I allowed to say, ‘Awwwwww?”
Too late. I already said it. Great job, Judy. 😀 😀 ❤
Awww, Judy! That was such a sweet poem and I really got teary eyed reading it. It made me happy too! Hugs to you! ❤
Thank you, Colleen. I am glad that you enjoyed it, and especially glad that it made you happy! 🙂
We need all the happiness we can get, Judy! 😉
Absolutely, Colleen 🙂
Enjoying the simple pleasures of life is the best thing.
Most definitely 🙂
Love the quote––so true! Your poem is beautiful, as usual. 🙂
Thank you Vashti. that is so kind of you 🙂
This is me!
Judy E Martin
Hello, and thanks for stopping by. I am Judy, in my (very) early fifties and decided that life definitely gets more interesting as it goes on! I am a wife and a mum and have just finished University as a Registered Nurse, after having worked as an Associate Practitioner in the NHS. I am also a poet and the author of my debut book, 'Rhymes of the Times.' I love to laugh, and I love rhyming words too, so I joined the two together, and my book was born. I am currently working on another book in the series also. I am a prolific blogger and enjoy writing funny stories, anecdotes, and anything really that takes my fancy.
