Writers Quote Wednesday Writing Challenge – Faith — July 1, 2016

Writers Quote Wednesday Writing Challenge – Faith

It is Colleen’s turn this week to give us the prompt word for her and Ronovan’s Writer’s Quote on Wednesday Challenge. She has come up with ‘faith’ and to me, this quote sums it up perfectly

The reason birds can fly and we can’t is simply because they have perfect faith, for to have faith is to have wings.
J.M. Barrie

Have you ever wanted something

That you thought was out of reach?

Perhaps getting a book published

Or a secret dream to teach?

Maybe you’ve failed your driving test

Oh, So many times

Or you’re struggling with your poetry

As you just can’t find the rhymes.

You finally went back to school

To learn a brand new trade

But already you are worrying

Whether you will make the grade

Don’t ever give up trying

You must always have some hope

You know that you can do things

That you thought way beyond your scope

Have faith in your ability

And don’t be afraid to try

You never know, you may find your wings

And soar way up in the sky

Hello there!

Allow me to introduce myself.

Ritu Bhathal
My name is Ritu Bhathal, a 40 (soon to be 40-something!) year old woman, living in the heart of Kent, UK.

By day, I am a wife, mother, daughter, sister, daughter-in-law, and a teacher.

By night, I am exhausted!

No, seriously, I am a blogger, and writer.

After I have sorted all the general household kerfuffle out, kids fed and watered, washed and packed into bed, hubby and myself also fed, laundry done, lunches made for the next day, and any outstanding schoolwork done, then I manage to sit down with my iPad/Surface or on my computer, to either write a blog post, or peruse my followed blogs, or generally write.

Yes, that means I seem to burn the candle at both ends, as I rarely sleep before midnight, and in term time, I am up at 6 then have to be alert…

Writers Quote Wednesday Writing Challenge – Happiness — June 22, 2016

Writers Quote Wednesday Writing Challenge – Happiness

It is Ronovan’s turn this week to give us the prompt word for his and Colleen’s Writer’s Quote Wednesday Challenge and he has come up with ‘happiness.’  This quote says it all really; sometimes we are looking so hard for something, we don’t realise that it is there right under our noses!

Some of us might find happiness if we quit struggling so desperately for it!

–  William Feather.

When the sun is shining

and there’s a gentle, cooling breeze

When the birds are singing

And playing in the trees.

When the flowers are blooming

With all their vibrant hues

When I have a day off work

And can get an extra-long snooze!

When I bump into an old friend

I haven’t seen for a while

When my great-niece Molly

Gives me a gummy smile

When I get to spend time

With all my family

When my husband cooks me

My favourite meal for tea!

When someone says ‘thank you’

As they know, you did your best

When I had my daughter

For that, I am truly blessed.

All these little pleasures

Are not that far away

They are things that make me happy

And brighten up my day.

Writer’s Quote Wednesday Writing Challenge – Rebirth — June 20, 2016

Writer’s Quote Wednesday Writing Challenge – Rebirth

It is Colleen’s turn this week to choose the prompt word for her and Ronovan’s Writer’s Quote on Wednesday Challenge, and she has come up with ‘rebirth.’ I found this wonderful quote by Anne Frank which I can very much relate to:

I can shake off everything as I write; my sorrows disappear, my courage is reborn

-Anne Frank

When I sit here writing

I can be who I want to be

I can go on long adventures

Or I could solve a mystery

The timid little person

Who is so very shy

Could become a mighty warrior

Or perhaps a Super Spy!

I could make myself a hero

Who always saves the day

Or perhaps an evil villain

Who gets more twisted every day.

What about a princess

Who is a stunning beauty?

Or a blowsy, brassy barmaid

Whose language is quite fruity!

A skittish, social butterfly

An astronaut in space

The chairman of a company

A woman of style and grace!

Yes, when I sit here writing

I can be who I want to be

Not this mousey little person

But a reborn, flawless Me!

Writer’s Quote Wednesday Writing Challenge – Adventure — June 14, 2016

Writer’s Quote Wednesday Writing Challenge – Adventure

It is Ronovan’s turn to suggest the prompt this week and he has come up with ‘Adventure’ for his and Colleen’s Writer’s Quote Writing Challenge Prompt. This quote seemed just perfect for where I was thinking of going this week with it. I have decided to write my poem about the Blogger’s Bash.

Every new friend is a new adventure…the start of more memories

–  Patrick Lindsay

This weekend I went on an adventure

I was determined to do it this year

Last time I was so regretful

That I let myself succumb to my fears.

My family didn’t think I would do it

Too many obstacles in my way

Anxiety, worries and shyness

Were not going to ruin my day!

Hubby dropped me off at the station

And I tentatively boarded the train

Despite getting all hot and bothered

I focused on what was my aim!

Ritu was there on the platform

With a huge smile on her face

Then off we went to meet Erika

Then had a coffee someplace!

Rich was not far behind us

The Blogily was now complete

We hadn’t got to the Bash yet

There were other bloggers to meet!

My nerves were now so much better

As we found our way to the pub

We met all of the committee

And Geoff had cooked up some grub!

Cakes of all kinds of flavours

He catered to every taste

I tried a bit of each one though

I couldn’t have them going to waste!

Hugh was doing the filming

And talking to every guest

Sacha was rocking her Louboutin’s

Definitely dressed to impress!

Ali was friendly and lovely

And welcomed us all with a smile

I was so pleased I had made it

I knew it would be so worthwhile

There were so many others present

Really there were quite a few

Many were faces I recognised

And I managed to chat with some of them too.

It was certainly a day to remember

I ‘m so glad I conquered my fear

And now I know I can do it

I can’t wait for this time next year!
