Ronovan’s Writes Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt #88 ‘Lift’ & ‘plan’

The two prompt words Ronovan has given us this week for his weekly haiku challenge are ‘lift’ and ‘plan’

Here is my take this week.

Photography 101: Connect & Tags

Wedding

Today’s Photography 101 challenge is all about the word ‘connect’ and what it means to me. As you can see from my photo, this was taken at a family wedding.

This speaks of connections on so many levels. Not just the couple that are getting married and starting a new life together, but of the friends and the family that are invited to share the day with them too.

The gathering together of all those people with one common connection, celebrating a marriage,  despite many of them not knowing each other. Eating together, dancing together, and meeting new and interesting people that you may not have otherwise encountered, is certainly making connections!

TJ’s Household Challenge Haiku – Cupboard

Wardrobe

Well, this week TJ has given us ‘cupboard’ as our prompt for his household haiku challenge. Now, as you might imagine, TJ has an extremely interesting cupboard for his haiku which is worth checking out.

Judy E. Martin, An Author to Know.

In case you missed it. I was over at Ron’s yesterday. I was delighted that he let me chat about my new book 🙂

Judy Martin at the Laptop!I am thrilled to be here on Ron’s blog to tell you a little about my new book. Firstly, for those of you who don’t know me, my name is Judy and I am the blogger behindEdwina’s Episodes. I have only been blogging for just over a year now, but what a year it has been!

Now to back up a bit, I first encountered Ron’s blog through another blogging friendHugh, who recommended I visit Ron’s blog as it had loads of hints and tips for bloggers, and also he organised this amazing weeklyhaiku challenge. Now, I didn’t have a clue what a haiku was, but I am always up for a challenge and I loved the ones Hugh submitted, so I popped on over to Ron’s to check it all out.

Well, that was it, once I got my head around the rules…

Hugh’s Weekly Photo Challenge: Week 16 – “Behind” —

Hugh’s Weekly Photo Challenge: Week 16 – “Behind”

20160312_142149-1_wm

For Hugh’s photo challenge this week, we have been given ‘behind’ as our prompt. Now I know I have taken a few liberties but I just had to post this pic of Mr Grump bending over, opening up a box.

Now, the reason I took this photo is because  sometimes Mr Grump like to thrill me with his ‘twerking’ moves. Now look at that behind, is that a twerky, perky looking booty? Nope! I don’t think so either.

Still, bless him, he likes to think he has got it all going on, even though his bum is as flat as a pancake!

Today is an interesting Stream of Consciousness, Linda has given us ‘ball’ to play with. Hmmm, I can’t immediately think of anything regarding balls (oh, that sounds rather dodgy and has just set me off on the wrong train of thought entirely)! Ahem, time to rein myself in.

Now apart from netball and tennis, I did not really enjoy sport at school. Hockey scared me to death, especially after I got whacked in the face with a hockey stick and ended up with a fat lip! In those days though it was more of an inconvenience if someone got injured, and I just got sent off to the home economics department for some ice, and expected to come back and get on with it!

Another thing I really enjoyed as a child was rounders. We didn’t play it a lot at school but I used to live just by a large green. In the summer a load of local kids would gather together and we would all play rounders together in the evenings. It was great fun and kept us all active. We didn’t need anything other than a bat (sometimes it was a cricket bat or tennis racket or even a bit of wood, a tennis ball and a couple of t-shirts or stones to mark out the bases.

I take with me some very happy memories of growing up there, where we all knew each other, and despite the odd falling out now and again, we all came together in the summer. It is surprising what fun you can have with a ball!

THE GREAT BOOK OF LISTS, CHAPTER 3.0 : YOUR FAVORITE DISHES —

THE GREAT BOOK OF LISTS, CHAPTER 3.0 : YOUR FAVORITE DISHES

Ooooh, this is a great week for the Book of Lists, this week as we get to talk about one of my favourite subjects….yes, food! The Duchesse wants to know what kind of food we enjoy cooking, and of course, eating!

In our house, Mr Grump is chief chef although I can cook when needed and sometimes I might actually make some cakes or gingerbreads (usually when Miss Hap wants them for school cake day or something)!

The kind of food I seem to enjoy the most is normally the most unhealthy, calorific dishes, which I am sure is no surprise. Still, here is my list.

  • A full English breakfast
  • A roast dinner
  • Party food
  • Barbecues
  • Steak and kidney pudding

I could go on and on…but my tummy is rumbling now!

Photography 101: Solitude and the Rule of Thirds — March 11, 2016

Photography 101: Solitude and the Rule of Thirds

I already had the perfect photo for today’s Photography 101 challenge of solitude. Last summer we went down to the coast on rather a cloudy day. It was also pretty early in the morning so the beach was near enough deserted. I love this shot of Miss Hap walking off towards the sea, mid-stride, hair blowing in the breeze appearing to be enjoying the solitude.

As far as the rule of thirds go, I think I have managed to capture it (despite not realising it at the time)! The sky, sea and sand are all roughly a third each of the picture, and Miss Hap is just off into the bottom third of the picture.
