Episode 369: One-liner Wednesday: Roses

This is my One-Liner Wednesday post inspired by LindaGHill,

Happiness is…admiring my roses. The ones that were bought for me in my favourite colours, and the ones in my garden that, despite being a bit bedraggled, are still managing to look beautiful!

Free-For-All Friday: #9

It’s Friday already. which means that it is time for me to share some more wonderful posts with you that I have discovered over the last week. I have tried to choose a variety of posts from all types of blogs. It goes without saying, that all of them are worth checking out.

Nutsrok Linda never fails to amaze me with stories about her crazy family! The fact that she is such a brilliant story-teller and is so funny as well, really adds to my enjoyment.

Vashti Quiroz-Vega This post caught my eye as I am really getting into Haiku writing, and I thought both of these offerings were brilliant in totally different ways.

Homemade Naturally Now although I like  to have a go at sewing from time to time, I am not that good. However, I saw this, and loved it, and am actually tempted to have a go at it as it does look quite simple.

Fourth Generation Farmgirl This is an inspirational post that shows what you can achieve with a lot of determination and perseverance. The follow-on post is the culmination of this, and the end result is stunning.

I Refuse To Follow Your Blog This post made me laugh! I love the way he writes, getting his point across in a humorous way. It works for me 🙂

Smorgasbord – Variety Is The Spice of Life I just had to include this one as I didn’t stop laughing throughout the whole post. That is no mean feat at the moment either!

Wild Daffodil I loved this post. We take many things for granted and don’t often see the beauty in nature. This shows just how lucky we are to have such beauty surrounding us.

I am sure you will enjoy these as much as I did.

Episode 310: Happy Birthday Beauty! — May 1, 2015

Episode 310: Happy Birthday Beauty!

Was it really 12 years ago

I first held you in my arms?

Your face all scrunched and wrinkled

And little skinny legs and arms!

I had waited so long to have you

And I never thought I’d see

That this beautiful, perfect baby

Would actually belong to me

To start with things were tricky

As it was just the two of us

But we muddled through it

With the minimum of fuss

You have grown so very quickly

And are now nearly a teen

You are clever, bright and funny

And look like a Beauty Queen

We have come so far together

I’m so proud of my little girl

So Happy Birthday darling

You really rock my world!

Episode 252: Five Photos, Five Stories – Day 3: Roses — March 26, 2015

Episode 252: Five Photos, Five Stories – Day 3: Roses

I recently received the following invitation from Author SB Mazing

I’m about to invite you to join in a challenge I recently accepted. Five Photos, Five Stories. I thought this challenge could present you with the opportunity of viewing blogging from a different angle, to do something different, anything that suits you for that matter. It’s entirely up to you. …

The Five Photos, Five Stories Challenge rules require you to post a photo each day for five consecutive days and attach a story to the photo.  It can be fiction or nonfiction, a poem or simply a short paragraph – it’s entirely up to you.

Today I am going to do another poem. My favourite flowers are roses (yellow ones especially). When I first moved in here, despite my lack of gardening skills I planted a few rose bushes. All of them were yellow and all scented. Over time I have lost some of them, but have planted others in different colours. The picture I’ve chosen was taken last summer, and is of some of my beautiful roses from the garden!

The rose’s delicate beauty

A wonder to behold

The petals, so exquisite

The  colours soft and bold

The scent is all-pervading

Its sweetness fills the air

The fragrance soft and subtle

Is truly beyond compare.

My roses are so special

They always make me smile

They brighten up my front room

If only for a while!

I would like to invite Caitlin from The Teen Daydreamer to join in.

Then each day, nominate another blogger to carry on this challenge.

Accepting the challenge is entirely up to the person nominated, it is not a command. And actually everyone can join in. So feel free to if you like the idea.

Episode 208: Raising Eyebrows! — March 9, 2015

Episode 208: Raising Eyebrows!

Sometimes it is hard work being a woman, you want to look your best as much as you can, especially when you are young. The first thing most people normally notice is your face and therefore it is important to give the right impression……

I know what a pain it is to pluck my eyebrows, All that eye watering, not to mention the pain when you accidentally tweeze a small chunk out of your skin, and are left with a nice little mark. Worse still is if you decide to get them ‘waxed’ or ‘threaded’ professionally.

Although the end result is usually worth it, the actual process is bloody painful. (Yes I am a wimp)! Out of the two threading was, for me, the worst! To add insult to injury (in both cases) I was left with swollen and bright red eyes (although perfectly shaped brows) for about 15 mins!

Anyway, one young woman decided that she didn’t want t o keep going through the pain and hassle of constantly grooming her brows, so she decided to do something about it! She went to a local salon to get her brows tattooed for the knock-down price of £100.

She did still have her old ones in place when the works was carried out as a kind of guide to where the tattoo should go. However, the ‘beautician’ (I use that term very loosely) decided to ignore that and raise the bar a bit!

Once the natural brows had been shaved off, the poor recipient was left looking rather surprised (well so would you if your eyebrows were as high as hers were, There was simply no choice)!

She has spent quite a lot of money to try and get them covered over to no avail. This poor woman can’t seem to get rid of them. not only that, she still has to constantly shave off her natural brows as if she leaves them to grow, she appears to have four eyebrows which is  little bit creepy.

Two years on and she has grown her natural eyebrows back, However,  the tattoos are still there just carefully concealed by makeup. I don’t think I will mind too much plucking my brows after reading this!

Episode 138: Carbuncle in the Cotswolds! — February 3, 2015

Episode 138: Carbuncle in the Cotswolds!

Oh how some people make me laugh! There has been a bit of an outcry at the moment because of a yellow car and a beautiful village  in the Cotswolds…….

Now, only a couple of days ago, I posted about how much I miss driving my pretty yellow car at the moment as it is off the road. Note I said ‘pretty’ yellow car. That’s right, it is a cheery, sunshiny. happy colour is yellow.

Some people don’t like yellow, and are particularly offended by cars in that most beautiful of colours. Yes, I’m talking about tourists, and photographers. They are kicking up a stink about a particular yellow car owned by a retired  82-year-old dentist, (Bless him).

The problem is that this car is parked smack-bang in the middle of a row of 14th Century Medieval cottages in the beautiful village of Bilbury, situated in the Cotswolds. Now this particular row of cottages attracts visitors and tourists from far and wide, who want to capture the beauty and serenity of this little lane.

The problem is this poor little yellow car is spoiling their view, and (shock, horror) appearing in their photos, Now this dentist is entitled to park his car there and is doing nothing wrong, Even the National Trust who own the buildings cannot force this owner to park his car elsewhere.

This area is one of ‘outstanding beauty’ hence the huge number of people it attracts. It is a shame that some of those people are so snobby and petty as to object to a little unobtrusive yellow Corsa, which quite frankly, adds to the ambience of the scene, in my opinion.

Is it an asset or an eyesore?
