Thank you to Ronovan for giving us ‘bird’ and ‘red’ for our prompt words this week on his Haiku Challenge.
I had some fun with this one, and this is what I came up with.
What makes me see red?
Launch me from a catapult,
I’m an Angry Bird!

The week has whizzed by again and here we are for another roundup of some fantastic posts that have caught my eye this week, and it is a real mixed bag of treats for you. There is humour, sadness, wisdom and wit in abundance for your delectation. I highly recommend visiting these blogs, because they all have a variety of other posts that are just as wonderful.
Myths of the Mirror This is a post that I think many of us can relate to. Not only do I love the humourous way it is written, I can’t imagine how I would feel if I were in the position where I was taking a break for a week!
The 9th Life A thought-provoking post that makes us look at things in a different way – literally!
Shawn Bird An absolutely brilliant poem from a different perspective. It very cleverly makes a point albeit a very polite one compared to what most of us would have liked to have said if we had been in this position!
TanGentle I loved this post. Geoff had this way of writing that is just so funny. Although I have never met him (I hope to at the next Bloggers Bash), I just know he is going to make me laugh constantly with his dry humour.
Silver Threading This was another excellent poem but in a totally different way. The image that goes with it matches perfectly. I have been in this position and this poem sums it up so well.
My Travels With Depression. This post was quite remarkable yet bittersweet. I don’t want to say anymore and spoil it, but it was amazing.
Ben’s Bitter Blog This post is something I like to moan at, but from the other side of the argument! I have to say, the humorous way he has written it, has almost made me change my mind!
These wonderful posts should keep you all highly entertained this weekend.
Happy Friday!
Thanks to the wonderful Ronovan for this week’s prompt words of ‘rise’ and ‘save.’ Mr Grump also contributed by giving me the subject as I was going to write this Haiku first:
“I need a pay rise”
“Forget it, you are fired!”
One way to save cash.
Instead, I have gone with this:
Thanks to the wonderful Ronovan for keeping his weekly Haiku poetry prompt challenge going despite having his own challenges to deal with, not least the technical ones that you can help with here
So. knowing the way my mind works, you can guess where I have gone with this one!
Hmmm, diet or bust?
I know I must lose some weight
I will miss my boobs!
The kids at last are sleeping
Your partner’s in the mood
He’s nibbling on your earlobe
But you’d rather have some food!
You try to get your groove on
As his kisses get more urgent
He’s yearning for some loving
You’re thinking about detergent!
Your top has been unbuttoned
And he’s just unclasped your bra
You moan when you remember
That you forgot to tax the car!
The rest of the clothes are discarded
You need to show some willing
He lays you on the carpet
Now your bloody back is killing!
The rhythm is getting faster
You moan and sigh for good measure
The carpet burns have put a stop
To you having any pleasure
You feel the rush, and him relax
All happy now and sated
Whilst you are feeling quite put out
-Sex is so over-rated!
I always try my hardest
When I am at work
I’ll do anything they ask me
And never skive or shirk
Yet everyday they ask for more
Way above my grade
At first I was so flattered
At the impression I had made
Little did I realise
They got so much more for less
All the responsibility
Not to mention extra stress
I cannot be promoted
Unless I start anew
But for now it’s ok
Till the newbies learn what to do
But God forbid I mention
That I still don’t feel that well
Always feeling tired
and generally like hell!
‘Perhaps we should get you checked out
To see if you are still fit’
Yet when there was no-one else
They didn’t mind a bit!
Thanks to Ronovan for his lovely prompt words for his weekly Haiku Challenge. They are ‘luck” and ‘hope’ and this is my take on them.
‘When your luck runs out
Hope is all you have got left
So keep on trying.
Well we have rhyming words today which is always a hit with me for Ronovan’s weekly Haiku challenge
For some reason, the idea of quintuplets came to mind! Here is my attempt this week.
Being one of five
It can be hard to survive
but we have all thrived.
This weekend I’ve been very busy
Helping out on a great magazine
Writing a few wacky stories
Plus a few odds & sods in-between
So my blog has been rather neglected
I have not posted as much as I might
I am still catching up with some reading
Before I even decide what to write!
I love the great interaction
That I get from my blog family
Seeing what everyone’s up to
And sharing what is happening with me.
So it back to some blogging this evening
As I can’t bear to miss just one day
I know it sounds like addiction
But it’s better than cigs, anyway!
A sister is a good friend
Who knows you very well
A sister is a confidante
To whom secrets you can tell
A sister is a shoulder
To cry on when you’re sad
A sister is a comfort
For when things turn out bad
A sister is a treasure
More precious than pure gold
A sister can be relied on
Whatever the future holds
A sister will support you
In all you say and do
A sister is a Godsend
And lucky me to have two!
Although I have published this poem on my blog before, I decided it needed another airing!
