Free-For-All Friday #30

Wow, these Friday Free-for-Alls are coming around quickly. I have got a few treats for you this week. A sumptuous soup, A list for when you are losing the will, and a vibrant vignette, not to mention a fondness for fountain pens!  Please visit these blogs because it is so difficult not to choose every post that they write!

Joeyfully Stated As you might have guessed, this post is so much more than just about soup, although I got a warm, tingly feeling reading it!

Fear of The Reaper. We all have those days from Hell when we wonder why we had bothered getting up! This made me laugh ( I know I am mean, but some of it was funny, at least to me)!

My Write This is another blog that I found whilst on the Writing 101 course. I loved this story, and a few of his others too!

Travelling Banana. This post struck a chord with me, and brought back many fond memories.

Short and sweet again this week, but there are loads on these blogs to keep you going for  a while!

Happy Friday!!

Farewell to Tuesday Tidbit — September 22, 2015

Farewell to Tuesday Tidbit

For the last couple of months I have been partaking in writing a Tuesday Tidbit post. I first came across this via two of my blogging friends Rob from The V Pub and Erika

It was great fun thinking up all sorts of naughtiness and also seeing what the others came up with as well. Ritu and Rich were also on board, and that is how our little Tidbit family was formed.

Anyway, from out of the blue today, Rob has decided that he is closing his blog for good. I am shocked and upset that he has reached this decision,  and don’t really feel like writing a Tidbit post for tomorrow.

I am going to put those on hold for now (don’t worry there is always enough smut and innuendo in my other posts anyway) as it won’t be the same without Rob.

I Would Tell You Over A Coffee….. — September 18, 2015

I Would Tell You Over A Coffee…..

Today we are going on a date for Writing 101! We are off to a coffee shop for a beverage of your choice (mine is a bucket of latte), and a quick catch-up! The only thing is, I will be doing all of the talking, so you will just have to sit there with a glazed expression, whilst I rabbit on.

I do love a virtual date as I don’t get tongue-tied or awkward, plus you won’t have to worry that you will end up wearing the coffee, after I have knocked it all over you in one of my clumsy moments! Anyway, let’s get on with it!

I would tell you over a coffee….that today is my first year Blogiversary, and that I am very proud to still be going with it.

I would tell you over a coffee…. that I am continuing to lose weight and have now gone from ‘obese’ to ‘overweight!’ (Bugger, I should have had a skinny latte)!

I would tell you over a coffee…. that the poll I did the other day about what type of things you would like me to write about ended with ‘things going wrong’ winning by 2 votes getting 13 in all.(You lot are cruel, but I also love to laugh at others misfortunes, so I’ll let you off)!

I would tell you over a coffee….that Miss Happ tried to pull a fast one today as me and Mr Grump have got days off by telling me she can’t go to school as her friend is off ill and that she is unable to get the bus on her own! (She was swiftly sent on her way)!

I would tell you over a coffee…. that I STILL haven’t got a start date for my new job yet, despite them telling me that they have all of the paperwork required (I am unable to give in my notice until I get it)!

I would tell you over coffee…. that yesterday I got not one, but two beautiful bouquets of flowers. One from Mr Grump, and one from my sister and niece who visited unexpectedly last night, armed with some beautiful red roses.

I would tell you over coffee…. that I can see you are bursting to go to the loo after that huge drink, so I will shut up now!!!

Free-For-All-Friday #29

It’s the end of the week, which means that I have got a tasty selection of treats for you to enjoy over the weekend. There is all sorts this week, from a short and very sweet Haiku, to a very sad open letter which really touched my heart and also some laughs in-between. As ever please go over and visit these blogs to see what other delights there are in store.

But I Smile Anyway Ritu always manages to bring a smile to my face with her sunny nature. This post really tickled my funny bone!

Stuff and What If, Olga’s Haiku has all the ingredients for a sweet post.

Of Means and Ends I happened across this post, and was appalled when I watched the video. So it seems, was this blogger.

Chris, The Story Reading Ape’s Blog Now I love a good put-down or comeback, and this is a prime example!

A Cooking Pot and Twisted Tales This is a fellow Writing 101er whose blog I have just started following. This letter was so touching and heartfelt as well as extremely tragic.

Hope you all enjoy these as much as I did.

Happy Friday!

Episode 500: Expanding Comments. — September 16, 2015

Episode 500: Expanding Comments.

Once I have commented on a post and interacted a bit with the blogger responsible for it, I tend not to think anymore about it. However, today for Writing 101, I am going to write my post expanding on a comment that I left on another blog.

The lovely Daffy  very often combines two different challenges into one post, and makes a damn good job of it too! I was impressed that she entitled the post ‘Yellow’ as that covered everything perfectly. I commented as much too,

Now, as many of you know, yellow is my favourite colour, and I have a lovely (well at least I think so) yellow car which I wrote about here. Anyway, yesterday I went to pick my sister up after work and was a little early (as usual)! I sat in my car daydreaming when I heard a thump.

I looked up and thee was this cat sitting on my bonnet,  looking straight at me. I nearly jumped out of my skin, but grabbed my phone and got a picture. He hopped up onto the roof, jumped down onto the boot and then disappeared!

How odd, Anyway, I forgot about it and two minutes later he was back, only this time he jumped on my side of the bonnet and was mewing at me (as you can see in the picture). I didn’t know what he wanted but off he flounced again but not before I got another picture of him. He is after all, very pretty with his yellowish fur and blue eyes.

When my sister arrived, I told her about him; she already knows him as he belongs to the people she works for, and is called ‘Cloud.’ Apparently he is a big wimp and normally shies away from people, so I must have been honoured to have had him come to see me.

Must have been my pretty yellow car!

Free-For-All Friday. — September 11, 2015

Free-For-All Friday.

Another crazy, busy and hectic week has gone by. I have to admit to lagging behind quite a bit at the moment as regards to reading all the posts I wanted, so I have a skinny Free-for-all today, but that does not make it any the less important. The posts I have chosen are all inspirational ones this week in one way or another.

Please do visit these blogs and see what else they have for you, you will not be disappointed!

Waffle Me This  The reason this post is inspirational to me is because Rich does not think that he is very good at poetry, yet this one is brilliant! Not only that, he has written loads more excellent poems this week.

Daily Echo. This is so inspirational as Sue’s son Nick has been on his bike again and you want to see how far he went this time! Sue must be beyond proud, and Nick is a fine (if not crazy) example to us all!  Well done to him.

La vie est trop courte pur boire mauvais vin TJ is pretty nifty with a camera and takes the most beautiful photos. I wanted to share this post with you so you can enjoy them as well.

Decoding Happiness Himali is a very talented young woman, This post is straight from her heart, and so very touching.

So, it is short but very sweet this week. Hope you all enjoyed these and were as inspired by them as I was!

Happy Friday!

Episode 482: A Little Bit of Housekeeping — September 5, 2015

Episode 482: A Little Bit of Housekeeping

It seems that several of us at the moment are having a bit of a clear out, doing some re-organising and tidying up of our blogs.

I have sorted out the overload of emails situation and then decided that I should ‘pretty up’ the look of my blog a bit. (You can tell I have got a bit of time off)! What started out as me trying to sort out the pictures and photos  (I failed), ended up with me spending hours on creating a lovely front page for my blog (Thank you Don Charisma for the tutorial that was so clear, it even worked for a dunce like me)!

I spent a further few hours this morning trying to create menus like ‘Tidbit Tuesday’ where I can put all the relevant posts. As some of you might have noticed, I failed at that as well as it all got a bit messy and complicated. This then led to some profuse swearing and ended up with a savage jabbing at the ‘delete’ button.

Anyway, I hope you like my new-look blog.

#Free-For-All Friday #27 — September 4, 2015

#Free-For-All Friday #27

It’s Friday already and have I got some treats lined up for you this week! There is some very good blogging advice, brilliant short stories, tips for writers, as well as a heart-wrenching post that I hope will make you think.

All of these bloggers are extremely talented and have lots more on their blogs to offer, so please go for a visit and have a poke around, I am sure they won’t mind!

Yadadarcyyada I like the take on blogging here. Some very good tips and advice written in a very light-hearted and entertaining style.

SachaBlack Poor old Sacha is just itching to get her hands on her manuscript! Find out why she can’t yet, and what she is doing to distract herself.

How the Cookie Crumbles. Tess is back, and not only that she has written another one of her brilliant short stories. She has been missed.

Silver Threading Colleen has been doing a bit of housekeeping, and she passes on some advice here. I am thrilled to see that she has mentioned two other blogs which I also read, that also gave wonderful advice.

Belinda Crane I have not been following this blog for very long, but I am so glad I found her (Thanks Hugh). This is a great story with an unexpected twist.

A Mommas View If you have not read this post yet, please do. That is all I want to say about this for now.

So I have a veritable feast for you this week which should keep you going for a while. Enjoy!

Happy Friday!

S.D.Gates This is absolutely hilarious as well ass being spot-on. I just had to share it with you.

The V-Pub Beautiful post about the simple pleasures. gorgeous pic as well.

Free-For-All Friday #25 — August 21, 2015

Free-For-All Friday #25

The week has whizzed by again and here we are for another roundup of some fantastic posts that have caught my eye this week, and it is a real mixed bag of treats for you. There is humour, sadness, wisdom and wit in abundance for your delectation. I highly recommend visiting these blogs, because they all have a variety of other posts that are just as wonderful.

Myths of the Mirror This is a post that I think many of us can relate to. Not only do I love the humourous way it is written, I can’t imagine how I would feel if I were in the position where I was taking a break for a week!

The 9th Life A thought-provoking post that makes us look at things in a different way – literally!

Shawn Bird An absolutely brilliant poem from a different perspective. It very cleverly makes a point albeit a very polite one compared to what most of us would have liked to have said if we had been in this position!

TanGentle I loved this post. Geoff had this way of writing that is just so funny. Although I have never met him (I hope to at the next Bloggers Bash), I just know he is going to make me laugh constantly with his dry humour.

Silver Threading This was another excellent poem but in a totally different way. The image that goes with it matches perfectly. I have been in this position and this poem sums it up so well.

My Travels With Depression. This post was quite remarkable yet bittersweet. I don’t want to say anymore and spoil it, but it was amazing.

Ben’s Bitter Blog This post is something I like to moan at, but from the other side of the argument! I have to say, the humorous way he has written it, has almost made me change my mind!

These wonderful posts should keep you all highly entertained this weekend.

Happy Friday!
