I have a bit of an addiction
This really is not very good
Now that I’ve given up smoking
I’ve become more attracted to food
It gives me the comfort I’m seeking
It is there when I need it the most
I can never resist a steak dinner
Or perhaps a traditional roast!
I am also partial to takeaway
I love chicken curry and rice
Or cod and chips from the chippy
Always goes down rather nice
I wish I wasn’t so greedy
As I’m putting on more and more weight
My portions are always so generous
I need a much smaller plate!
I am on the road to redemption
I’m starting to gain some control
I’ve started to eat much more healthily
And have ditched the pies and the rolls
I really have to stop snacking
This will help me along in my quest
To finally kick this addiction
And get me looking my best!

Most of us feel exactly the same way.

not just you – I finally got it sorted out and have lost 55 pounds in the past year and a half. Blessings on your journey. It will be worth it.
Great poem – I admire your ability to write poems that rhyme!

Wow, well done to you for your successful weight loss. I think it is wonderful how you managed to 55lbs !
I can only write poems that rhyme. I am useless at trying to write the intelligent type of poems! Mine are just little ditties. Thanks for the compliment though.

Thank you. It’s funny as I used to do them all the time about 10 years ago, then I just did one now and again for family special occasions, Hopefully I will get back into the swing of doing them now. 🙂 Mind you, I don’t want to overdo it and bore people with them! Let me know if they start getting on your nerves.

Judy E Martin
Hello, and thanks for stopping by. I am Judy, in my (very) early fifties and decided that life definitely gets more interesting as it goes on! I am a wife and a mum and have just finished University as a Registered Nurse, after having worked as an Associate Practitioner in the NHS. I am also a poet and the author of my debut book, 'Rhymes of the Times.' I love to laugh, and I love rhyming words too, so I joined the two together, and my book was born. I am currently working on another book in the series also. I am a prolific blogger and enjoy writing funny stories, anecdotes, and anything really that takes my fancy.
