It is that time again when Ronovan sets us the week’s Haiku challenge. The words that we are to use this week are ‘pitch’ and ‘time’. I shall try not to lower the tone this time!
Here is my attempt:
Early Risers.
It is 4am:
Time for the starlings to sing
Their pitch is too high!

Any chirping at 4AM is too high – and too loud! lol That was wonderful!

Very welcome! I love to sleep with open window now, hearing the crickets at night… but in the morning I could go nuts with the birds nesting in our gutter…

Shame the birds don’t have a lie-in now and again!

Exactly! But actually I am so happy with them feeling comfortable at our home. When I sit outside (like now) they are all next to me twittering, feeding their young ones. So sweet….

Love yours! I’m sleeping with the windows open and I love to wake up with all the singing outside, not 4 am, but around 6 is fine.

Yes, I agree. I get up early but 4am is just a bit too early to be serenaded!

One reason why I hate the light mornings, Edwina. Why can’t they sing me to sleep instead?

I like them but they just get up too early at the moment š

They obviously go to bed far too early in the evening!

You are so right! It’s the sparrows that are driving me nuts – AND they eat all my seedlings in the garden – peaky little devils:
Sparrows at dawn, NO!!!
Pistols at dawn more like it!
Nature lover – me?!

Good one Edwina! So the starlings are your alarm clock, huh. Ha, ha! Believe me, there are worse sounds to wake up to. š

Ha, ha! I could think of worse ways to be awoken, but 4 a.m. is painful no matter what way you look at it! Wonderful Haiku š

I’m lucky. I have four birds and they do not say a ‘peep’ until I get out of bed!

You are lucky. As much as I love to hear them singing, I would rather they waited a few hours!

Hello, and thanks for stopping by. I am Judy, in my (very) early fifties and decided that life definitely gets more interesting as it goes on! I am a wife and a mum and have just finished University as a Registered Nurse, after having worked as an Associate Practitioner in the NHS. I am also a poet and the author of my debut book, 'Rhymes of the Times.' I love to laugh, and I love rhyming words too, so I joined the two together, and my book was born. I am currently working on another book in the series also. I am a prolific blogger and enjoy writing funny stories, anecdotes, and anything really that takes my fancy.
