I hope that you are enjoying my posts from Linda’s Just Jot it January as much as I am enjoying writing them.
Here is today’s prompt word.
Your prompt for January 14th, 2018, brought to you by a new-to-me blogger, Itinerary Planner, is “Ultimatum.” Use it any way you’d like in your post. And make sure you visit Itinerary Planner at her blog, “Travel Itineraries: Travel the World for Less” (sounds good to me!) to read her post and say hi! Here’s her link: https://traveltinerary.com/
Ultimatum. This is a pretty serious word, isn’t it? It is like a laying down of the law, so to speak. “If you don’t buck up your ideas matey, then you can clear off and find somewhere else to live”, kind of thing. It makes me think of errant grown up children and husbands (I know, sometimes they seem one and the same thing)!
Ultimatum is reaching the end of the line, or the end of your tether, whichever is more appropriate; something has got to give before the situation blows up. However, I do think that issuing an ultimatum can work in a positive way. I know I have been in a situation where I have had to ‘lay it on the line’ and demand that things change, and sometimes they have!
Sometimes it’s the only way to move forward in life… even if the ultimatum ends up with a choice being made that you were really hoping against.

Sometimes we simply have to lay things on the line in order to move forward.

Brilliant post Sis, you have nailed it! Not all ultimatums are reasonable, some come for unreasonable reasons or circumstances… Looks like I am ranting sorry . Love your post.??

Some ultimatums are definitely unreasonable, Sis. Just people going on power trips! ??

It has a rough meaning. But sometimes we need that kick in our bum in order that we take action!

It’s funny, isn’t it? Ultimatums are a last resort, and I often feel like when I think of one, I should just walk away. But I have gone through with a few and they’ve worked. Tricky, judgment and intuition must play a hand.

Oh, I agree that there are other things to try first before issuing an ultimatum. They can so easily backfire! 🙂

Hello, and thanks for stopping by. I am Judy, in my (very) early fifties and decided that life definitely gets more interesting as it goes on! I am a wife and a mum and have just finished University as a Registered Nurse, after having worked as an Associate Practitioner in the NHS. I am also a poet and the author of my debut book, 'Rhymes of the Times.' I love to laugh, and I love rhyming words too, so I joined the two together, and my book was born. I am currently working on another book in the series also. I am a prolific blogger and enjoy writing funny stories, anecdotes, and anything really that takes my fancy.
