Episode 421: Heartfelt Thanks.

Yesterday, was a massive milestone for me in that I reached just over 700 followers! I can’t tell you how wonderful it is to be part of this wonderful blogging community we have here.

So thank you to those that come to visit, whether it be daily, or whenever you feel like it! Thank you for welcoming me into your own worlds and indulging me; especially  when I am having a rant, or a moan, or inflicting my rubbish attempts at getting to grips with technology on you! Thanks for all of your wonderful blogs that have had such an impact on me, making me laugh, cry, sing along, or made me think about things in a whole different way; thanks also to those of you that have given me advice on technical stuff where I had no clue!

Episode 420: If At First You Don’t Succeed……. — July 18, 2015

Episode 420: If At First You Don’t Succeed…….

In my last post I mentioned how I was having trouble with getting to grips with my new phone. I am nothing if not determined, and when Mr Grump asked me if I wanted to go for a walk this afternoon, I thought it might be an idea to take my phone and get some pics! (For the other stuff, I am going to Google how to use it)!

Some of my pics of bumble bees on thistles are a little bit rubbish still as I couldn’t see what I was doing as the sun was so bright (ahem, I know a bad workman always blames his tools)but I was quite pleased with the others and have decided to share them with you (whether you like it or not)!!

The area we walked is not too far away from home; these fields are just on the edge of a built up area which houses some office blocks. There is a little river tucked away just behind that as well. On the way back there was a huge field of corn with just a couple of poppies that had sprung up on the outside of  it that looked very pretty.

Episode 419: Photo Fail!

As some of you may know, I am not exactly the most proficient person when it comes to technology. I tend to get by just sticking to the basics,or perhaps asking for a little help when there is something I really need to do understand how to do.

Anyway, myself and Mr Grump were due an upgrade and after a lot of thought (which one comes in the prettiest colours, and has a good camera, as I want to try to learn to take a decent photo as I am rubbish at that as well) I ended up with a really lovely gold coloured phone that can do quite a lot of stuff.

I decided that I would try to use some of these wonderful features as they will go to waste. Well, I was pleased to see I have a pedometer on this health app, so I gave that a go and was delighted that on days that I work. I of course do more than he recommended 6000 steps by double and I surpass my daily activity minutes as well.

So far, so big-headed! (I would be a lot more pleased though if the bloody weight would come off with all this ‘exercise’. Next up I wanted to play with the command thing, where you ask it to do something and it does. Ooooh this is fun, I asked it to text Mr Grump it did! He laughed his head off when I politely asked it to set my work alarm for 5:15am please! Well, most of you will know my take on having good manners!

Having said that I wanted to wring its bloody neck this morning, on my day off, the stupid alarm went off singing away at 5:15. So here I am at 7am on this beautiful Saturday morning, having already been up for a couple of hours (once I am awake that is it, I have to get up).

I didn’t have a lot of success with the camera either. I mentioned that I went to the awards ceremony at Miss Hap’s School on Monday. Well me being me, as I went on my own, I got there too early as I stressed myself about parking. The advantage though was that I got to sit in the 3rd row from the from just behind the teachers. Miss Hap was the very first child up to get her award, and I was there, camera poised.

As her name was called she walked on stage and stood there for a bit, once the subjects that she had got the award in were read out she walked across the stage, shook hands with the chap who was there from the charity the school was supporting this year, and then walked off again. I spent so long trying to zoom in and focus I missed the bloody handshake moment but did at least manage to get a photo of her! Yes, I only managed to get 2 in total due to my faffing about!

There needs to be some sort of course set up for the technodunce!

Free-For-All-Friday # 20

I cannot believe this is the 20th week of my Friday-Free-For All. I have got some wonderful posts again, I am pleased to say. Please try to visit these wonderful blogs as you will be so glad you did. There is so much more there for you to enjoy.

Decoding Happiness This blog is one that I have not been following for long, which us a shame as I have been missing out! Himali is one of the nicest people you could wish to meet. This poem is just beautiful.

Chris The Story Reading Ape’s Blog Chris has always got loads of wonderful things on his blog, but this post was one that certainly resonated with me.

Author Carole Parks This was a beautiful and poignant post, which certainly brought a lump to my throat.

Wafflemethis This post by Rich made me re-consider the way I had thought about something that we all strive to have it seems

A Momma’s View This is another post that I could identify with. One of the problems of the age we live in.

Sacha Black Sacha and her motley crew (well I can think of at least 2 reprobates), have lined up a fantastic meeting on August 1st. Sadly I won’t be able to make it but I will be following it on Twitter and Facebook to see what they all get up to. I have also cast my vote, and invite you to do the same!

So there you have my blogtastic posts for this hot and sunny weekend. Have a happy Friday!

Episode 418: The Delights of Decorating! — July 16, 2015

Episode 418: The Delights of Decorating!

Tomorrow Miss Hap breaks up for the summer holidays until early September! This is always a nightmare as far as childcare is concerned as myself and Mr Grump usually take a couple of alternate weeks off each, and for the others I work a couple of nights and a day over the weekend. We are lucky that we can do this, and Mr Grump has got the first week off next week.

Miss Hap has decided that she wants to totally redecorate her room as she has grown tired of it! We only did it a couple of years ago in the orange and lime green that she wanted. (It sounds a bit loud but I really like it actually, although I was a bit reluctant at first)! As her room was the last one to be done it was not next on my list at all, but as she had worked so hard at school lately despite a very rocky start, and won an award on Monday for German and Music I am considering it. I also have an ulterior motive in that her room is a mess, and I told her if she cleaned it out spotlessly I might think about it.

Now she has already been giving her orders about colour schemes and what she wants to do. In fact, bless her, she cut a load of letters out to stick on her wall already as you can see in the pic. Now I hate decorating (well the mess that goes with it), and get very stressed with furniture all over the place and other stuff strewn about, so I have decided that this part of the deal will go to Mr Grump!

He likes painting and decorating, and if he doesn’t get it done next week (along with some other chores I have given him to do), then he is off  the first week in August and can do it then. It’s a shame really, because I have got to work and he will have to do it all by himself (no doubt a lot of direction from Miss Hap too)!!

VOTING NOW OPEN – Annual Bloggers Bash Awards

I’ve voted. Make sure you get your vote in too,

Sacha Black's avatarSacha Black

Who-will-you-vote-for-

You nominated in your hundreds – literally! I had to enlist a committee of fabulous bloggers (Ali, Geoff and Hugh) to help organise all the nominations and sort them into this, the official voting post. To find out more about the #BloggersBash event have a look at this, this or this.

11733474_10207031963138573_162371955_nBefore we begin voting, there’s one more thing to add. The lovely Geoff decided we needed to stand out from the crowd so that y’all can find us at the British Library on the 1st August. So he has ordered some Annual Bloggers Bash t-shirts. The committee will be wearing them, but it was cheaper to bulk buy, so inevitably we have spares. SO, if you win one of the awards then a t shirt is yours! But if you would like a t-shirt anyway then they will be £6 on the day. Geoff is…

Episode 416: Wacky Word Wednesday #10 —

Episode 416: Wacky Word Wednesday #10

Can you believe that it is week 10 already of my wacky word Wednesday. I have really enjoyed doing these as they are such fun. Today I have got a bit of a rude word for you, but it sounds so funny and always makes me laugh. It has several meanings as well so a pretty versatile word all round.

Bollocks. Well doesn’t that just roll off the tongue nicely. This word is so much nicer than gonads and testes, balls and even plums. A kick in the bollocks has a much better sound to it!

This word is also babbling balderdash, meaningless mumbo jumbo, and nothing but nonsense!

What about the mutt’s nuts? This word is primped and polished, stylish and smart, in fact, perfectly pukka!

Lastly, this word used as a verb without the ‘s’ is very stern and severe, giving a good telling off, not to mention a tongue-lashing! A reproof and reprimand of the highest order

It is also one of my favourite words.

Episode 415: Tuesday Tidbit. Getting In The Mood. — July 14, 2015

Episode 415: Tuesday Tidbit. Getting In The Mood.

Things are heating up around here as I get ‘in the mood’ for my Tuesday Tidbit post. Speaking of which,  I am interested in knowing what ‘lights your fire’ when it comes to getting ready to get it on. Here are a few of the more obvious ones:

Setting the scene. Most of us are familiar with this old chestnut!  The candle-lit meal, good food, good wine, a bit of Barry White (or whatever floats your boat) playing soft and low. Something sexy for dessert, like strawberries or chocolate or both, that you can feed each other, or just have each other for dessert!

Watching a sexy movie together. Mind you be careful that you don’t go over the top and put on something hardcore that will scare your partner to death, thinking they are going to have a lot to live up to, or it might end up killing the mood! By the same token, a Disney movie is not going to get you very far either (unless of course, that just happens to be your thing)!

Give Each Other A Massage A sensual massage can be a great lead-up to a bit of loving. Hands stroking all over the body discovering all those sensitive little places…let’s hope that no-one is ticklish!

Having a Bath or Shower together.  This can definitely become very steamy; slippery soap, lathering each other up, especially in all those little crevices. Providing no-one burns themselves on the hot tap, or sits on the plug, then bathtime can be lots of fun! Just don’t over-fill it or there could be a bit of a tidal wave with all that motion!

Do any of these get you in the mood, or is it something else entirely?

Episode 412: Ronovan’s Writes; Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt #53: Guide and mad

We have got some great words to work with again this week from Ronovan for his weekly Haiku challenge.

This is what I have managed to come up with this week.

I guide my sweet peas;

I’m hoping they’re bountiful

I’m mad as they’re sparse!
