Episode 394: Creepy Creatures! — June 26, 2015

Episode 394: Creepy Creatures!

Now I admit that I am a bit of a wimp when it comes to creepy crawlies etc, and of course now that summer is well and truly on its way, I am going to be constantly nagging Mr Grump to come and deal with any that happen to get in my way!

I have tried to be really careful that I do not pass this trait down to Miss Hap but it seems I have failed. Around 6am this morning when I was eating my breakfast and Mr Grump was out with the dog, she came thundering down the stairs in rather a hurry! This in itself was unusual because normally it takes forever to get her up and motivated on a school day and also she does not like to hurry, especially in the mornings.

It turns out there was a HUGE (her words) spider in her room and I needed to go and get it out immediately. Well I am afraid to say, I wasn’t going! I had already had a run in with a daddy-long-legs that dive-bombed me whilst I was on the loo, and that was far closer than I was going to get to any spiders. Mr Grump was still out, so after 10 mins Miss Hap decided (with my encouragement) that it had probably scuttled off somewhere else and to go back to bed.

At break time today at work, three of us went to sit on the smoker’s bench just by the car park (I haven’t restarted smoking, but way too hot to stay indoors). The nurse sitting next to me on the bench started flailing about screaming, so I jumped up as well as she said something was in her hair!

She managed to flick it off and it turned out to be this little chap. I have never seen a spider like him before. He has this almost fluorescent green body (looks radioactive to me) and was running around all over the place.

I wanted to get a pic of him as he was so unusual but was scared to get too close, so this is the end result which is not very good I know, but you can still see the glowing green bit of him!  Has anyone else seen this weird type of spider.? (Now to us of course, he seemed ENORMOUS but I think he was probably about as big as a thumbnail!

Free-For-All Friday #17 —

Free-For-All Friday #17

Welcome to Friday! It’s a lovely day, the weekend is coming and I have some wonderful blogs to share with you. I have a mixed bag of treats for you this week. Everything from the silly to the sublime.

Kyrosmagica This was a wonderful take on one of the challenges that is going around at the moment. A funny and creative effort that I really enjoyed.

Heels And A Toolbox I have been following Vanessa’s blog right from when I first started. She gets up to all sorts of things, and always has a project on the go! This post however, is a little different to what you would expect, but an honest and heartfelt tribute.

Little Steps To Somewhere I have not been following this blog for very long, but I really enjoyed this post. It is light-hearted and funny and celebrates a little triumph that many of us can relate to!

I Refuse To Follow Your Blog Now this post looks at something from a totally different perspective, and rightly honours those that really deserve it.

The Write Place I love a bit of Flash Fiction, even though I can’t do it myself, I am still impressed at some of the creative stories that people come up with by just a photo prompt or a song title etc. This one is a brilliant example of how a great story can be told with so few words.

So there you have it. Please check these blogs out if you haven’t already as they are all wonderful and have lots to offer.

Have a happy Friday!

Episode 393: 7 Wonderful Things About The Summer! — June 25, 2015

Episode 393: 7 Wonderful Things About The Summer!

  1. Looking at all the beautiful gifts nature has bestowed on us. The flowers, now in full bloom, not only do they look gorgeous, some of them have a wonderful scent too
  2. Good old BBQs, I do love them. It is particularly lovely when there are a load of you getting together enjoying the flavoursome food, and each other’s company.
  3. The sea. I love swimming in the sea in summer time. A beautiful hot day, lazing on the beach and then cooling off with a refreshing swim.
  4. Not having to remember a coat! It is great just being able to go out in  short sleeves without having to worry about getting cold.
  5. Listening to some great summer tunes! I love music at the best of times but I always feel happy listening to the sounds of summer!
  6. The light mornings and evenings. I have never been that keen on the dark so having so much daylight really lifts my spirits, especially when I get up nice and early and the sun is already shining brightly.
  7. People come out of hibernation. There always seems to be more to do in the summer, People feel much more sociable, and get-togethers happen frequently.

See I am not negative all the time!

Episode 392: 7 Not So Good Things About The Summer! —

Episode 392: 7 Not So Good Things About The Summer!

  1. Flies and wasps! These little sods get everywhere and anywhere buzzing about, dropping into drinks and dive bombing food, if you are not careful.
  2. Curdled milk. What is it with people (especially at work of all places), leaving milk out of the fridge so that it goes like cheese after a little while!
  3. Neighbours who think they are bloody Bruno Mars! Honestly with the windows and doors open and the close proximity of all the houses where I live, every sound can be heard, so when Mr Mars next door starts wailing at the top of his out of tune voice, it is not a pleasant experience. I would love it if he could sing as it is far better than his shouting his head off that we normally get!
  4. White clothes. Now I love all my white outfits despite the fact that white is not always the best colour for the more voluptuous woman to wear. However, being as clumsy as I am, they are normally filthy within a couple of hours where I have at on something or knocked something onto myself!
  5. Sleepless nights. Yes I get enough of those as it is, without the stifling hot air that hangs heavy in my bedroom, despite all windows being open. Having the fan on does not always help as it makes such a bloody racket which is very distracting!
  6. Bad hair days. My hair has a mind of its own and does not want to conform to any sort of style, but in the summer I have one look only, the sweaty, plastered to the head kind of arrangement!
  7. Sand everywhere. I have always been a bit fussy about this, even as a child! I hated being covered in clumps of sand after getting out of the sea, where it had stuck to me. I never wanted to eat the picnics Mum got out of the cool box as inevitably sand would have got into the sandwiches! That CRUNCH as I bit into it made me feel

What annoys you about the summer?

Episode 390: One-Liner Wednesday.

I saw this quote and it made me laugh, so I had to share it today for One-Liner Wednesday!

‘When you get angry take a breath and count to 10. Throw a punch at 8. Nobody expects that! ‘

This bit of silliness was inspired by LindaGHill

Episode 389: Wacky Word Wednesday #7 —

Episode 389: Wacky Word Wednesday #7

It’s Wednesday, which means it is that time for an abundance of adjectives (bit of a sore subject, as I failed the challenge), as I delve around and dig up another wonderful, weird or wacky word. I had two to choose from this week that I liked the sound of, and as they are both similar in meaning and I will get to use them both anyway, I will choose the one that has the best sound to it…….

Pillage. This is a wonderful old word that smacks of Vikings, plundering(my other word) and purloining anything they could get their sticky mitts on. Invading and raiding everything in their path, ransacking and ravaging, littering and looting.

It is destroying and desolating whatever is in their way, stripping it bare and scarpering with the spoils! Rifling and robbing is the name of the game!

Episode 388: Tidbit Tuesday: New Love 18+ — June 23, 2015

Episode 388: Tidbit Tuesday: New Love 18+

I have decided to have a go at ‘Tidbit Tuesday’ after enjoying reading posts by Randy Rob and Erotic Erika! As I am a virgin at this, I will need breaking in gently! I am not sure yet how far I am going to go, let’s see what happens.

This is about  finally getting to be with someone, after wanting them for a long time!

New Love

Flirty looks from lowered lashes

Music plays soft and low

A glass of wine to ease the tension

Things are going nice and slow

A kiss that started out so gentle

Deepens as the passion starts

Stroking hands and soft caresses

Mingling breath and beating hearts

Groans of pleasure, ever louder

As he gently moves inside

Now the tempo is getting faster

Yearning cannot be denied

Thrusting, probing, arching, moaning

The dance of love is at its height

Clenching, screaming, sighing, sated

This is love that feels just right.

Episode 387:First Post Challenge — June 22, 2015

Episode 387:First Post Challenge

The lovely and talented author Erika has challenged me to participate in this new challenge. I am really pleased to take part in this as it takes me right back to my first post and it is interesting to see whether or not my blog has evolved.

The first thing I noticed, was that I had written about not feeling all that well. How embarrassing as I seem to write a few of those, wallowing in self-pity! I didn’t really know what I expected to get out of blogging, or where I would even go with it. In fact I didn’t even know if anyone would even read it!

I just wanted an escape from the awful depression that i was going through at the time, and my sister suggested that as I was quite a good raconteur, I might like to write things down as more of an escape really. So, here I am 9 months and many friends later!

Here are the rules:

  • Copy-paste, link, pingback or whatever way you want to, your first post.
  • State what type of post that was. E.G. Introduction, Story, Poem
  • Explain why that was your first post.
  • Nominate 5 other bloggers. Five because I know the pain of opening a lot of tabs at once.

Here is my first ever ‘episode.’

Here are my Nominees:

Homemade Naturally

Fourth Generation Farmgirl

But I Smile Anyway

Episode 386: Ronovan’s Writes Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt Challenge #50: Gain and Hound

This week Ronovan has come up with some more challenging words for his weekly haiku prompt and has given us ‘gain’ and ‘hound,’ Tricky!

Here is my take on it.

You hound those birdies

When they drop some tasty crumbs

Their loss is your gain!
