TJ has given us ‘meal’ and ‘friendship’ for the weekly household challenge prompt words this week which seem to me to fit together perfectly.
Here is my attempt at it:
Mum’s Birthday Tea
Family gathers
The meal, long since been eaten
Friendship lingers on,
Happy Bloggy Anniversary to TJ whose blog has just passed its first year. For this week’s Household Haiku Challenge we get to choose from any of the categories that have gone before, I have chosen ‘photograph.’ No, I am not crazy choosing this subject with my limited photography skills, it is one that was taken by a professional (over 100 years ago). It is a photo of my paternal grandmother and my great aunt.
Sisters:
Two young girls. Guess which
one remained a spinster and
one an unwed mum!
This week TJ has given us ‘treats’ to use for our prompt for his Household Haiku Challenge, which of course, is very fitting for Halloween.
My mind immediately went in the same direction as TJs with the sweets/chocolates idea, as for me, they are indeed a very special treat.
This is what I came up with:
Halloween treats for
witches, monsters, ghosts and ghouls
go to sleep happy!
TJ has given us ‘garden’ for this week’s Household Haiku Challenge, which you really must check out. His own haiku this week is brilliant!
Seeing as it is now well into autumn over here in England, my garden is looking a bit neglected, and there is not much to see. However, there is a little bit of colour, and I have played with the photo a bit trying to bring it to the forefront. (I am a total amateur at photography as you know, but am pleased with it)!
Anyway, on to the Haiku:
Untroubled by rain,
cosy in their purple capes
sweet peas hang in there!
I have taken TJ’s advice and am linking it to the Daily Post’s ‘Careful’ photo challenge.
TJ has set quite a challenge this week, giving eggs as the prompt to use. His photo and Haiku were beautiful. (He always manages to make everything looks so special, even the humble egg)!
Mine, of course, has got an entirely different take on it than his!
Here goes:
Standing tall and proud
The egg, such a brave soldier
knows the end is near!
Well, I have gone and done it this week! TJ has chosen ‘teacosy’ as the household item and has written a wonderful Haiku accompanied by a really fun teacosy.
I have just turned out my drawers (ooo er Missus), looking for my tea cosy. It’s gone! I had one from 20 years ago that was part of a whole range of tableware which I collected. I can’t even find an image it online, so, I will have find one that I like the look of instead! This one is very like the ones my nan used to knit.
A good cup of tea
Warm and cosy from the pot
Answer to all ills.
When I went out for a walk with Miss Hap on Saturday, it was a beautiful, sunny afternoon. As we passed the field she decided to show off her cartwheeling skills, and I said I would take a photo of her.
Actually I made her do a few so I could get a good shot!
When we got home and had a look, this was the best one I got!! I do try hard!
We have had a bit of an Indian summer over here in the UK, and it is still pretty warm. In fact, Miss Hap and I went for a walk about an hour ago and came back roasting!
It is wonderful to see some roses in full bloom in the garden, and there are still some to follow.
I thought they deserved a Haiku in their honour.
October roses
beautiful and delicate
bring joy to my heart.
This week for TJ’s Household Haiku Challenge we are to use ‘teacup’. I took this photo at my sister’s house as she always makes an occasion out of it when she has visitors. In my house, you get a mug and like it, but hers you get a pretty cup and saucer and tea made in the teapot too!
So onto the haiku:
Glorious sunshine
sipping tea in the garden….
but where is the cake?
