We have got some great words to use this week for Ronovan’s weekly haiku challenge. I have decided to be a little more serious this week!
Here is my attempt.
You’re so last season!
Spring will bring you a fresh look.
You need a new style.

This is a great word for Linda’s Just Jot it January prompt today – ‘elegance.’ It is something that I am truly lacking in, but wish that I had.
I thought I would dig out a poem that I wrote some time ago for those of you that have not seen it yet, about my desire to be more graceful and elegant!
Oh how I wish I was graceful
and not a disaster on wheels
I trip over every obstacle
And my shoes have got broken off heels
I try so hard to be upright
But always fall flat on my face
My body is covered in bruises
From where I have fallen from grace
I long to be elegant and classy
But that is just not to be
Whilst others are sipping their cocktails
I’m knocking over my tea.
Life for me would be perfect
If only I was more chic
Instead of awkward and bumbling
And coming across as a freak
Oh how I wish I was graceful
But life is not very fair
So I’ll carry on being clumsy
And pretending that I just don’t care!
It’s Friday again and time for me to share some of my favourite posts. This week, as usual, I have chosen a delicious assortment of goodies for your delectation! Please do visit these blogs to have a nose around, as there is so much more on offer.
A New Perspective Perhaps This post was short and to the point. It is something I think many of us are guilty of, in one way or another.
The Phil Factor This post made me laugh, although in some ways it is a bit scary!
DoubleU This really resonated with me. Sometimes, especially at the moment, I just hate going out too, and if I do, I just want to get back home as soon as possible.
Thoughts and Entanglements This is lovely, I could almost feel the slight breeze in my hair!
Deb Was Here Deb pays tribute to a very special person, which brought a lump to my throat.
Bun Karyudo Who says romance is dead? A wonderful heartfelt post with a touch of humour, This was right up my street.
So there you have a mixed selection of goodies to take you through the weekend. Enjoy!
Happy Friday!

Sacha has given us the prompt of ‘rusty’ this week for her Writespiration challenge. I didn’t feel that I would be able to come up with a story this time, so I have gone with a poem instead.
I am pretty rubbish at English
And Maths was never my thing
I was always bewildered by Science
As for Music, I never could sing!
I was totally lost in Geography
History was never that clear
Religious Studies were hopeless
PE had me quaking in fear!
French was not my best subject
And Spanish I had not a clue
Cookery was never my forte
And Art was disastrous too!
So when my daughter struggles with homework
And asks me to help if I could
I tell her that I am a ‘bit rusty’
Rather than I’m just not very good!

Here we are ready for another Wednesday where I unearth a wacky, wonderful or weird word that is not used often enough! Today’s word is no exception, and I would put it in the ‘wacky’ category due to the sound of it. It is one of those words that always makes me smile when I hear it, and I am pretty fond of using it as often as I can too.
Wonky – What a wibbly, wobbly word this is. A bit off kilter, slightly skew-whiff, knocked off balance, or out of alignment. It’s that crooked picture you just have to straighten (never mind that it is in someone else’s house) or the sponge cake you loving baked that had turned out a bit lop-sided.
It is rickety and rocky, unstable, like one leg of a table is a bit shorter than the rest, causing it to lurch wildly as soon as anyone puts anything on it! Actually, it is rather like me trying to walk in skyscraper heels, tottering and teetering trying to stay upright!
Some great prompt words again from Ronovan for his weekly Haiku Challenge of ‘crystal’ and ‘hope’.
Here is my cheeky attempt this week!

For Linda’s Just Jot it January today, the prompt word we have is ‘effortless.’ I thought I might do something a little different for me and write a list of things that I wish I could do effortlessly!
Still, looking on the bright side, I wouldn’t have much to blog about if I were to walk through life effortlessly!

Today we have ‘sane’ as our prompt word for Linda’s Just Jot it January Prompt. The more I think about this word, the trickier it becomes to write something about it.
Being sane is, of course, having a healthy rational mind, and being able to make sound decisions. Therefore, being insane is having an unhealthy mind, and being irrational at times? Hmmm, it seems it is not as simple as that.
Most of us at some point have joked about insanity, referring to ourselves or others as being mad, crazy, nutty, mental, gaga, off their rocker, or a lunatic, and think nothing of it. It is not really something we take seriously, in fact, we very often laugh about it.
We all make irrational decisions at times, or become overwhelmed with emotion and feel unable to deal with everyday ‘life.’ This normally doesn’t last too long and we can continue on with our lives with no ill effects. sometimes, though, it does last for a long time and it becomes difficult to function. Luckily, we are able to visit the GP and get the help we need, whether it be medicinal or counselling and therapy, or perhaps a combination of both.
Thankfully, over time, treatment for mental health problems have progressed, so that sufferers are no longer carted off to an asylum, as was the case not too long ago. Anyone from a ‘promiscuous’ woman (funny but I have never heard of a promiscuous man being considered insane) to a person who has learning difficulties, to menopausal women (we don’t half get a raw deal), have in the past, been incarcerated in institutions for the insane, never to get out again.
I, for one, am grateful that we live in an era where mental illness does not necessarily equate to insanity and having to be locked up!
