For Linda’s Just Jot it January today, the prompt word we have is ‘effortless.’ I thought I might do something a little different for me and write a list of things that I wish I could do effortlessly!
- Walk up the stairs – my knees creak and groan in protest.
- Look immaculately groomed – My hair always ends up looking bedraggled, and my makeup (when I wear it) gets rubbed off in places or smudged, where I have forgotten I am wearing it and rub my eye or something!
- Sing – I love music, but can’t hold a tune and end up screeching along to my favourites songs, struggling to hit any of the right notes!
- Read – yes I can still read, but half the time, I have to search for my glasses to be able to see properly! In fact, I have even resorted to wearing them most of the time now.
- Go shopping without a shopping list! – My memory is not what it used to be and I can guarantee that if I don’t write it down, then I will forget it. Actually, sometimes, I forget to put it on the list in the first place!
- Lose weight – now this, of course, is just wishful thinking, but it would be nice
- Do the housework – Ah yes, I remember the days when I would zip around the house like a dynamo, getting all of the work done and then relaxing in my clean and sparkling home. Now it takes me half an hour to motivate myself to get the vacuum out!
Still, looking on the bright side, I wouldn’t have much to blog about if I were to walk through life effortlessly!
That is a great list, Judy! Just always imagine you could do it effortlessly instead of already sighing only thinking of it. That’s a phantastic idea to put it that way. It was funny reading the prompt word. I used it in a similar context in my post today.

The post goes along with it. For once I checked which quote I scheduled and wrote the post according to it… hehe!

Lol I’m with you on almost everything on that list. It’s probably a sign we’re growing up, not growing older though…growing up lol

Yes, just growing up. I agree, as does Linda! I have just been over to read her post, and she and I are pretty much thinking the same thoughts today 🙂

I can relate to most on your list, but being more than 10 years ahead of you, more so! I never did zip round the house like a tornado though, I’ve always been a mess! ❤️

Lol, a list we can all relate too. For me the shopping list one is a big one. Sometimes I go in the store for one item…come home with three bags of crap and forgot the one item Lol.

I still maintain that you are my sister from another mother, though I am still managing to read with glasses for now. The knees creak, a shopping list is a must have, ahh, weigh loss would be lovely, I warble in the name of a song and between you and I am not so fond of housework myself.

So true.
I do look after my knees as they are excellent at getting away form store detectives. 🙂

Haha, right there with u on most of those (I can sing, having grown up in Ireland where my mother marched me out to trill my little heart out for every poor visitor from the age of six). One knee has already caved, but in recovery now and slow slow slow on the stairs, sigh. Oh well. The only way is up, right. Hmm. 🙂

I am jealous that you can still sing! I might still have been able to if I hadn’t smoked for so many years. Sorry about your poor knee though, that must be pretty painful! Let’s hope everything else stays intact! 🙂

Haha, thx so much! Tra la la… 🙂 Well, I am afraid last year was a bad health year for me, knee was doing better by summer and out of nowhere I ended up in emergency with a bowel perforation! 😩 (darn age thing once you hit fifty they said, who knew?) but happy to say all doing much better now, New Year so yay. Bring it on!

Oh God, that must have been a shock! I am just about to hit 50 myself next month! I am glad that your health problems are behind you now, and fingers crossed, you will have a happy and healthy 2016! 🙂

Judy E Martin
Hello, and thanks for stopping by. I am Judy, in my (very) early fifties and decided that life definitely gets more interesting as it goes on! I am a wife and a mum and have just finished University as a Registered Nurse, after having worked as an Associate Practitioner in the NHS. I am also a poet and the author of my debut book, 'Rhymes of the Times.' I love to laugh, and I love rhyming words too, so I joined the two together, and my book was born. I am currently working on another book in the series also. I am a prolific blogger and enjoy writing funny stories, anecdotes, and anything really that takes my fancy.
