I have been naughty this week! I couldn’t help the first thoughts that came into my mind for Ron’s weekly haiku challenge. I hope he isn’t too cross with me!

Majestically it stands there
Surveying all it sees
The winter branches barren
Devoid of lush green leaves.
Yet life is still within it
Just waiting for the spring
When its buds start blooming
And the birds begin to sing
In summer comes its glory
When it wears a party dress
Of several different colours
Its beauty outshines the rest
Then autumn comes a-calling
And it starts a slow striptease
The leaves are changing colour
And are dropping in the breeze
This is the work of nature
Of death and then rebirth
The barren and the beautiful
The treasures from the earth.

I found it quite tricky looking for shadows to take part in TJ household challenge prompt this week, so have had to use a bit of creative licence (ok cheat a bit)! Although I did find a shadow in one of my photos that was great to use, it is not exactly a household one!
Graduation day,
The dean awaits me on stage,
Don’t let me trip up!

There once was a young lady from Kent
Who lived for a year in a tent
But the scratchy brown grass
Was a pain in the arse
So she is refusing to pay all her rent!

For Linda’s Stream of Consciousness this week, she has given us the prompt word of ‘food.’ Now I thought that this was going to be an easy subject for me to write about given my love for food. However, I have done many a post about food already so will have to think about a new take on it!
As some of you may know, I have recently started working in the community where I go out to visit patients in their own homes. We do all kinds of things from taking blood and giving injections, to dressing wounds. Given that we could arrive at any time during the day, we quite often end up catching people as they are preparing or eating their lunch, or perhaps having a cuppa and a biscuit.
Most of the patients I see are elderly, and some of them are very warm and welcoming when they see us. There was one lady who always offered me a coffee when I visited her brother that lived with her, and many times she would get out the biscuit tin, and on one occasion there was a doughnut waiting for me! Her brother was visited every day by the nurses and sometimes we would have students with us, but she never failed to offer us refreshments when we went there.
I was even offered a ‘bit of dinner’ a couple of days ago when I arrived at lunchtime to see a patient, Her husband answered the door, and told me that he was just preparing lunch (which smelled delicious), and I was welcome to join them for a bit of dinner. I declined of course, but it was so sweet to have been askedFor some of our patients, we are the only person they might see for a while, and they love it when we occasionally accept a coffee and stay for a quick chat. It is also lovely for us to feel so appreciated and welcome.

As I may have mentioned, I became a very proud great-aunty on Sunday to the beautiful little Molly that I wrote about for Ronovan’s Haiku Challenge this week showing her scan picture.
Well, this is the little beauty now at just 4 days old! We have not had a baby in our family since I had Miss Hap which was 12 years ago, so needless to say, we are all very thrilled and excited to have a new addition to the family.
I was off this Wednesday, so nipped down to see the proud new parents and little Molly. I’d forgotten just how gorgeous baby cuddles are, even if Molly wasn’t that impressed!

This week has passed by in the blink of an eye and here we are, it’s Friday again! I have of course got an assortment of goodies for you to get stuck into over the weekend. Please take some time to visit these wonderful blogs to see what other treasure they have hidden there!
Daily Echo I thought that I was pretty good at spelling and grammar. After reading this post I realise that I have failed miserably, and am not up to the standards set by our government for SEVEN year olds!
Homemade Naturally Donna has some really great ideas and I loved this one!
For Friends Without Borders, This is Rob’s brand new blog and a wonderful concept. He had given about 30 of us admin rights so that we can all share this blog and publish whatever we choose; wonderful freedom for some of us that have to be a little more discreet on our own blogs!
How The Cookie Crumbles Tess is one of those people that I really envy! Her ability to tell a gripping and entertaining short story is brilliant.
A Certain Point of View One of my favourite poets has done it again! This is just so bloody funny you will LOVE it!
What a heartwarming story. It certainly brought a lump to my throat.
