Photography 101: Bliss and Captions — March 10, 2016

Photography 101: Bliss and Captions

Mum's Birthday
Some of my (rather large) family!

Today for Photography 101, we are to post a photo of ‘bliss.’ This could be anything that brings us joy and happiness. Also, the task is to caption the photo.

This was quite easy for me actually as this photo captures several elements that are important to make in making me happy.

Firstly, being with family; yes we get on each other’s nerves at times and we have our quarrels, but we also have a great laugh as well, and some wonderful times together.

Food.Whenever there is food around, I am happy! Especially if it is a BBQ.

Fine weather. Now I love a bit of sunshine and sitting outside on a warm summer’s evening. I am a bit fussy though in that if it is too hot, I will moan (there is no pleasing some people, I know)!

The only thing missing from this picture is the beach. I do love swimming in the sea, and lazing about on the sand feasting on a picnic!

Photography 101: Water & Orientation — March 9, 2016

Photography 101: Water & Orientation

Today we were given ‘water ‘ to photograph, and also to take the shot from a vertical angle, and then to turn it around so that it is horizontal.

Well, water was rather a fitting subject for today seeing as it was lashing with rain for most of the day! I didn’t want to photograph the rain though preferring to capture some actual water.

Some of my visits this morning were to an elderly care home and I usually park my car just outside, by a little bridge that goes over this stream. Today I had a new colleague with me and the weather was absolutely filthy. The wind nearly blew us over and the driving rain pounded us as we walked the short distance to the home.

However when we had finished, the rain had stopped so I managed to get these photos. My colleague, however,  was disappointed with me as she thought that for the ‘water’ theme, it would be far better if she drove my car into the huge puddles that were everywhere and I took the photo as I got drenched by the splash! She is going to fit into our team pretty well by the sounds of it, having such a cruel sense of humour!

By the way, as far as orientation goes, I actually thought that in this case the horizontal angle works better, despite the stream running downwards!

Photography 101: Street — March 8, 2016

Photography 101: Street

Street 1.jpg

Today, we are taking photos of a street for Photography 101. Again there is to be no fancy editing or anything, just the photo, preferably a wide angle shot. (I decided that I should black out the number plates, but that is the only editing I did)!

Armed with my Samsung S6 phone (aka my camera) I took this photo of the street which leads up to the square where I live.

As it was early in the morning, the cars still had the frost on the windows, and it was pretty quiet around. The blue sky promised a sunny day, which it delivered although it was still pretty chilly.

This town where I have lived off and on since I was 13 years old has grown considerably over the years, and new housing developments are springing up all over the place. So much so, that I often have to rely on my Sat Nav when going out on my visits, as I am unfamiliar with some of the new areas in town!
