Free-For-All Friday #4

Welcome to my Friday-Free-For All number 4. This is where I like to share with you some of the brilliant posts that I have read over the past week that have had some sort of impact on me, whether that be funny, educational, or just plain mad!

It is also a chance to find new blogs to follow as well as new followers for your own blog. If you have read something that you have enjoyed, then feel free to post a link in the comments so we can all go and check it out!

Here are my blog-tastic choices for this week:

Listful Thinking. Stephanie’s post about her love for grammar and her lack of hobbies is so funny. Given her penchant for list-making she us trying to come up with a new hobby that incorporates things that she likes. Check it out.

My Spanglish Familia Oh how handy it must be to be bilingual! This post was teaching kids how to make polite conversation – without spilling the beans on what really happens at home!

Single Family Asylum Now this has to be the funniest post I have read in ages. It is a series of bizarre events that would make a hilarious comedy sketch. Only it is true! You have got to give Blunderdad points for trying, but it just seems that things seem to go disastrously wrong for him, not to mention his poor wife!

Sheldon Kleeman This is a poem that I came across during the week. It was simple and sweet. A lovely reflection on some special memories, and one I could relate to.

Smorgasboard – Variety Is The Spice of Life. This post was wonderful. I have not been following Sally for very long, but she is a very talented and funny woman. She is also very generous in promoting other people’s blogs. This however, is a wonderful clip that she posted featuring an amazing dog dancing beautifully!

Ronovan Writes. I was recommended to visit this blog by the wonderful Hugh as Ronovan hosts a weekly Haiku poetry prompt challenge. Now I had never written a Haiku before but had a go and found I loved it! I also entered this week’s challenge, and you can have a go at it to as there is still time. Ronovan and the other participants are great too, really friendly and supportive.

Elan Mudrow This is am amazing poet, so talented and clever with her words (I am extremely jealous)! She also uses retro photographs to illustrate her poems  which only add to their appeal. Fantastic.

Gluestick Mum. This was a brilliant story, told so well that I could really picture the scene! There are a couple of swear words in it though, just in case you might be offended. However, in my opinion, they were more than justified.

I Refuse To Follow Your Blog I have been following this blog for a while now. I love his sense of humour and the fact that everything is ‘Pathetic!’  This post  made me laugh as we have all heard it said so many times!

10 Years A Single Mom This is a new blog I am following, but as soon as I saw this post, I could really identify with it totally! It is so funny – and so true!

Episode 267: Farewell My Friends!

I’ve got a little secret

That I need to share with you

I’ve decided to quit blogging

As I have too much to do

My work is getting busy

And I have no time to post

My friendly ‘blogging buddies’

Are what I’ll miss the most

I love the whole community

And the blogosphere is so cool

I wasn’t really serious

It was just an April Fool!

Free-For-All Friday #2

I was thrilled with the success of the first Free-for-all Friday. It was wonderful that so many of you participated, either by sharing links to blogs that you have enjoyed over the last week, or by reading the blogs that myself and others had recommended. I know some of you even gained some more followers which is bloody fantastic!

This week I have also got a collection of corkers for you from various blogs that have caught my eye. Please go and visit them, they are worth it, Also if you have read something that you have enjoyed, then feel free to share it in the comments.

The Hummingbird Redemption This particular post I chose of hers was pretty poignant really. Rafaela reiterates that not every picture does tell a story, or at least not the one we were expecting it to be. I realised after reading this how easy it is, to get the wrong impression.

Behind The White Coat. I have been following this blog for a while now. Not only does she use some spectacular photos (all her own) but she writes some truly inspirational posts. Bring a doctor, she has many interesting tales to tell, funny, moving and in some cases heart-breaking. This one, made me laugh!

Dorkchops (That has got to be the best blog name ever)! We all need a helping hand sometimes in this crazy world of blogging, I know I do, That is why I chose this post. Very helpful, clear, concise and also very nice layout! I learned a few tips here as well. Her writing style is fun and open. Well worth checking this out.

Year of Awesome You This post really tickled me due to the sheer silliness of it. I have only recently encountered this blog, so was curious to find out more. She is one funny lady, and you really should check out her back story, as I roared with laughter when I did (plus I could identify with it as well).

My Grandfather Was An Undertaker As you know, I love a poem, and I am a bit of an old romantic too. Daleen has written a beautiful poem here as a tribute to her husband, which made me feel all warm and fuzzy.

Travelling Banana  This post was a really funny, but extremely silly joke. I loved the way she told it, and I groaned at the punch-line, but it really made me laugh. To get your giggle for the day, head on over to visit.

Fourth Generation Farm Girl Tonya has a really wonderful blog. I love her attention to detail with her recipes, her immaculate presentation in her photographs, her inspirational stories and her passion for her farm.

Nutsrok Linda is one of the funniest bloggers I have had the pleasure of reading. She has got a crazy family, and a host of hilarious stories to keep you entertained. I loved this one.

I hope you enjoyed these as much as I did, Have a lovely Friday.

Episode 213: Friday Free For All — March 11, 2015

Episode 213: Friday Free For All

Since I have been blogging, I’ve been lucky enough to have been nominated for various awards. I know that bloggers have differing views on whether or not they want to participate in these. I chose to accept the awards in the spirit they were given, and pass them on to others accordingly.

However, I have decided against accepting any more of these. I truly appreciate getting these awards, and am humbled that people have liked my blog enough to have nominated me for these awards. I would like to do something else instead perhaps.

Everyone appreciate more followers, and there are a few bloggers such as Opinionated Man at HarsH ReaLiTy, (he does loads for bloggers, Meet and Greets, inviting people to Guest Post, amongst other things), Linda from LindaGHill (with her ‘One-Liner Wednesdays’ as well as other blogging prompts and challenges) A Mommasview (she has her ‘picks of the week’. Blog posts that have caught her attention which she lists on a Saturday) and Austin from The Return Of The Modern Philosopher (He recently had a ‘Blog pitch party’ encouraging people to visit each other’s blogs).

Anyway, I know I only have a little blog, but I want to give something back, so I thought I might have a ‘Friday-Free-For-All’ where I can share some posts that I have enjoyed. It never hurts to have a bit of support.

What do you think?

Episode 212: Love Thy Neighbours! —

Episode 212: Love Thy Neighbours!

Blogging 101 task for today is to continue being neighbourly. We are to visit four new blogs and to leave a comment on there. This is something that I like to do pretty regularly anyway as there are so many wonderful blogs yet to be discovered! Here are the ones that I have been to visit today:

Walk A Mile In My Shoes. I went over here as Stacey had very kindly visited me. I think blogging is all about sharing the love, so I checked out her blog which is really great. She not only has great taste in shoes but is a very friendly and welcoming person,

Forbidden Books Club. The name of this blog intrigued me straight away. I think we are all a little curious to know about something that is ‘forbidden’. I really liked what I saw here. I love books and always have so I am thrilled to have found this.

Nique Fornever. This blog I happened across is about a young navy wife and stay at home mum, who has followed her heart (and her husband) to live in a different country. It is her thoughts and feelings, and I thought it was something different for me to enjoy.

Crickets are Ok. This blog is very funny from the bit I have seen of it so far. I love the style of writing as well as Krissy’s sense of humour.

Those are my four blogs that I have commented on today for the first time. They are all different but all very worthwhile checking out as they each have lots to offer

Episode 93: Four Wheels On My Wagon….. — January 9, 2015

Episode 93: Four Wheels On My Wagon…..

I thought I would give my blog a bit of a make-over. Seeing as this is the start of a new year, in which I hope my blog continues to grow and improve, there is no time like the present to set the wheels in motion…….

Slight problem though! One of the wheels has fallen off, plus the brakes are jammed on! I seem to be incapable of doing what I thought was the simplest of things. I wanted to insert an audio link. Yes, that;s all, a silly little audio link. You would think that it would be easy peasy. Well so it might be for a four-year old , but I can’t bloody do it! Even after 2 hours of trying.

I think I must be missing some sort of  ‘common sense’ gene somewhere along the line! I worked in an office for 10 years for Christ’s sake and I can’t even do a  teeny-weeny link!. It didn’t start well when I couldn’t find an audio programme on my laptop. I didn’t want to use the video as I want to try to GAIN followers not scare them off. Anyway, I did it on my phone and (eventually) managed to send it to my laptop.

Great, so far so good, and it only took about an hour to do it! I had my post all ready and all I needed to do was to insert the audio link and ‘Bob’s your Uncle.’ Sorted! Only no, it was not sorted. WordPress did not like my audio clip (I know my voice is a little deep after years of smoking, but some might find it soothing)! It was the wrong type of file. There was a list of right types of files but of course I couldn’t convert mine to that type, and I think even if I do, then I need to upgrade (story of my life)!!!

So sod it! I will have to rack my brains for some other ideas instead.
