TJ’s Household Haiku Challenge – Art. — February 20, 2016

TJ’s Household Haiku Challenge – Art.

Day of the Dead Homework

Today TJ has given us ‘art’ as our prompt for his household haiku challenge.  I have never been any good at drawing and am not much of an art connoisseur either. I have always admired those that are talented artists and am even a little envious of them!

For my haiku this week, I have featured a drawing my daughter did for her homework when she was 11 years old. I was very impressed.

Hugh’s Weekly Photo Challenge Week 12 – Games — February 14, 2016

Hugh’s Weekly Photo Challenge Week 12 – Games

Games

For Hugh’ s weekly photo challenge this week, we were given ‘games’ which was chosen by Ronovan  who is looking after Hugh’s blog whilst he is busy settling into his new place.

Now I like games, especially charades. Things can get pretty ugly in our family when the board games come out, though, as everyone loves to win, and although no one will admit it, they are all competitive.

However, the games I am going for are the video games. I have to say, I love the Sims games and can spend hours on them, I also get right into my CSI games too,  pondering on the evidence and trying to find clues! I find them a great way to escape from ‘real life’ and lose myself for a while.

TJ’s Weekly Household Haiku Challenge – House Number — February 13, 2016

TJ’s Weekly Household Haiku Challenge – House Number

Remote Controls (1)

I was wracking my brains for what to use for TJ’s household challenge this week as our prompt is ‘house number,’ Mine is not as fancy as TJ’s pretty enamel one so I thought of other numbers around the house instead, as he suggested.

I decided that the TV remote controls were a good choice. Plenty of numbers on there to be getting on with!  Wales are playing Scotland (who England beat) in the 6 Nations Rugby Cup today, and Mr Grump is glued despite his constant snuffles, snorts and sneezes spoiling his enjoyment! (Man flu has arrived and he is actually really poorly)!

Anyway, here is my haiku!

Hogging the controls

Channel surfing drives me mad

Is it a man thing???

Ronovan’s Writes Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt #83 ‘Gem’ and ‘Flame’

Gems!

I wasn’t sure where to go with the prompt words given to us by Ronovan this week for his weekly haiku challenge but then I got all romantic and this is the result!

Ronovan’s Writes. Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt # 81 ‘Trill’ & ‘Final’ — January 25, 2016

Ronovan’s Writes. Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt # 81 ‘Trill’ & ‘Final’

What a tricky combination of words we have this week for Ronovan’s weekly haiku challenge, ‘trill’ and ‘final’. I have opted for synonyms this week!

Here is my take:

Just Jot it January 11th – Effortless — January 11, 2016

Just Jot it January 11th – Effortless

jjj-2016

For Linda’s Just Jot it January today, the prompt word we have is ‘effortless.’ I thought I might do something a little different for me and write a list of things that I wish I could do effortlessly!

  • Walk up the stairs – my knees creak and groan in protest.
  • Look immaculately groomed – My hair always ends up looking bedraggled, and my makeup (when I wear it) gets rubbed off in places or smudged, where I have forgotten I am wearing it and rub my eye or something!
  • Sing – I love music, but can’t hold a tune and end up screeching along to my favourites songs, struggling to hit any of the right notes!
  • Read – yes I can still read, but half the time, I have to search for my glasses to be able to see properly! In fact, I have even resorted to wearing them most of the time now.
  • Go shopping without a shopping list! – My memory is not what it used to be and I can guarantee that if I don’t write it down, then I will forget it. Actually, sometimes, I forget to put it on the list in the first place!
  • Lose weight – now this, of course, is just wishful thinking, but it would be nice
  • Do the housework – Ah yes, I remember the days when I would zip around the house like a dynamo, getting all of the work done and then relaxing in my clean and sparkling home. Now it takes me half an hour to motivate myself to get the vacuum out!

Still, looking on the bright side, I wouldn’t have much to blog about if I were to walk through life effortlessly!

Hugh’s Photo Challenge: Week 8 – Charity Christmas Tree Topper Challenge — December 13, 2015

Hugh’s Photo Challenge: Week 8 – Charity Christmas Tree Topper Challenge

I was disappointed not to be able to take part in Hugh’s photo challenge last week as I didn’t encounter any funny signs.

However, he is back this week with a wonderful idea of a Christmas tree topper photo challenge that will raise money for charity. This I can take part in. It is such a wonderful thing to be part of as well.

My Christmas tree topper is a silver star. It came with my tree which you can read about here

Come and join in the fun and help Hugh raise money for Dog’s Trust Charity.

TJ’s Household Haiku Challenge – Christmas — December 12, 2015

TJ’s Household Haiku Challenge – Christmas

We have the lovely theme of ‘Christmas’ to use this week as our prompt for TJ’s household haiku challenge

Christmas means lots of things to me, one of them is hearing Christmas carols which always make me feel festive.

Out Christmas shopping

Stop for coffee and carols

Christmas is coming!

Another is my Christmas tableware. Now it is now that often that we actually have Christmas dinner at home, but I love my Christmas gravy boat…

TJ’s Household Haiku Challenge – Keyhole — December 5, 2015

TJ’s Household Haiku Challenge – Keyhole

I love the prompt word TJ gave us for this week’s household haiku challenge which is ‘keyhole’.

I decided to show two keyholes, one not being as easy to see on my paternal grandmother’s charm bracelet.

Ronovan’s Writes Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt. #73 ‘Black’ & ‘White.’ — November 30, 2015

Ronovan’s Writes Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt. #73 ‘Black’ & ‘White.’

This week Ron has given us ‘black’ and ‘white’ to work with for his weekly Haiku Challenge.

I have had a bit of fun with it this week. Despite not being much of a Star Trek fan I have taken a bit of a liberty!
