Episode 362: My Take on A Book Review! — June 7, 2015

Episode 362: My Take on A Book Review!

You know when you have read something really good and you just want to share it with everyone?  Well I have written a little review in a poem for ‘Laughter Lines, Life From The Tail End’ by Sue Vincent, which I downloaded from Amazon here.

I thought I would try something different

Not something I usually do

But I have just read a fabulous book

And I wanted to write a review!

If you enjoy a great poem

And love to have a good laugh

Then you will love Ani’s antics

To get out of having a bath!

If legends are more to your fancy

St George and the dragon – the truth

To slay it takes one feisty princess

Not some weak, callow youth!

Do you have a sense of adventure?

To do what very few dare

Stand out from the crowd and be noticed

With vibrant red pillar box hair!

These stories are just a selection

In the book there are tales of all kinds

So I urge you to read it

Sue’s brilliant book, Laughter Lines!

Episode 355. Ronovans Writes Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt #47: Water & Bard. — June 1, 2015

Episode 355. Ronovans Writes Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt #47: Water & Bard.

Oh I do love Mondays when I can get to have a go at Ronovan’s  weekly Haiku Challenge. He has, however, given us some really tricky words to use this week, with ‘bard’ and ‘water.’ I do love a challenge though and have had a go.

Nature’s bright colours:

A trickling waterfall hides

– Bard’s inspiration.

Beautiful Waterfall

Episode 333: Ronovan Writes Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt Challenge #45: Pitch and Time — May 18, 2015

Episode 333: Ronovan Writes Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt Challenge #45: Pitch and Time

It is that time again when Ronovan sets us the week’s Haiku challenge. The words that we are to use this week are ‘pitch’ and ‘time’. I shall try not to lower the tone this time!

Here is my attempt:

Early Risers.

It is 4am:

Time for the starlings to sing

Their pitch is too high!

Episode 320: A Shock Result! — May 8, 2015

Episode 320: A Shock Result!

Now the Election is over

I am feeling rather bereft

Apart from the Prime Minister

All of the other main leaders have left!

What a shock the results were

Poor old Lib Dems lost out

UKIP didn’t do a lot better

And Labour suffered a rout!

So Cleggy got his comeuppance

For going back on his word

UKIP’s voters were useless

And Labour’s chances absurd!

The Scots all put their foot down

And voted for their own SNP

Nicola Sturgeon is happy

To win every seat there, bar three

So British Politics are changing

At the moment only one thing is clear

That Dave Cameron is running the country

For the others it’s all ended in tears!

Episode 314: Ronovan’s Writes Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt Challenge #43: Source And Thought — May 4, 2015

Episode 314: Ronovan’s Writes Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt Challenge #43: Source And Thought

Well, Ronovan, you have set us a monster of a challenge this week for your weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt! We are to use ‘source’ and ‘thought.’

This is my attempt:

Anxiety:

Episode 310: Happy Birthday Beauty! — May 1, 2015

Episode 310: Happy Birthday Beauty!

Was it really 12 years ago

I first held you in my arms?

Your face all scrunched and wrinkled

And little skinny legs and arms!

I had waited so long to have you

And I never thought I’d see

That this beautiful, perfect baby

Would actually belong to me

To start with things were tricky

As it was just the two of us

But we muddled through it

With the minimum of fuss

You have grown so very quickly

And are now nearly a teen

You are clever, bright and funny

And look like a Beauty Queen

We have come so far together

I’m so proud of my little girl

So Happy Birthday darling

You really rock my world!

Episode 306: Ronovan’s Writes Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt Challenge: #42 Love & Last — April 27, 2015

Episode 306: Ronovan’s Writes Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt Challenge: #42 Love & Last

This week’s Weekly Haiku Challenge by Ronovan  is a nice romantic one, inspired by his wife of 26 years.  We have the words ‘love’ and ‘last’ to use. I have actually written two and couldn’t decide which one to use, so have sent them both!

True Love:

A love that will last

despite the trials of life

my love remains true,

or

Waiting For Love:

I was last in line

To find the love I yearned for

My patience paid off

Episode 297: Ronovan’s Writes Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt Challenge #41 — April 20, 2015

Episode 297: Ronovan’s Writes Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt Challenge #41

Well this week Ronovan is really making the Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt tricky by giving us ‘want’ and ‘tatters’ to use!

This is my go at it!

The sea is angry

The ship wrecked, and in tatters

For want of some peace

Episode 290: Ode To Blogging From A-Zed — April 16, 2015

Episode 290: Ode To Blogging From A-Zed

I always love a challenge

A chance to use my head

I joined two friends and signed up

For the Blogging from A to Zed!

Now it seems to make things harder

You ought to have a theme

So as, I love words so much

I thought that could be my scheme!

I’m more than halfway through now

And it’s really been a blast

I’ve dug around and found some words

That I’ve rescued from the past.

So although I might be ‘flummoxed’

About the right one to choose

I have got ‘ample ‘amounts of ‘corny’ words

Even ‘nincompoops’ can use!

Episode 287: Whittling Down The Waist! — April 14, 2015

Episode 287: Whittling Down The Waist!

I’ve always had a problem

With my lack of waist

I’ve always loved my food so much

But overindulged my tastes!

So I have had to take some action

To tone the muffin top

After talking with a friend

I set off to the shop

To get myself a hula hoop

To whittle the inches away

The regimen is easy

Just ten minutes every day

Three weeks in already

And half an inch less flab

It looks as though I’m lighter too

5 pounds lost. That’s fab!
