Episode 105: Older On The Outside!! — January 16, 2015

Episode 105: Older On The Outside!!

It is not very much fun getting older

My waist seems to have disappeared

My face is all wrinkled and crinkled

And I appear to be growing a beard!!!

My hair that was once lush and golden

Now thin with a smattering of grey

My boobs that used to be perky

Getting droopier, more every day

My legs are looking like tree trunks

My bum is no longer pert

My knees are squeaky and creaky

If I run, I know it will hurt!

But I know I ought to be grateful

As some of these flaws I can hide

Cause although I appear to be ancient

I am still just a teenager inside!

Episode 104: Oh, How I Hate Doing Housework! — January 15, 2015

Episode 104: Oh, How I Hate Doing Housework!

Oh, How I hate doing housework

There a huge pile of ironing to do

The carpets all need to be vacuumed

And I still haven’t tackled the loo!

There’s dust all over the TV

The bath is covered in grime

I haven’t started preparing the dinner

What HAVE I done with my time?

The sheets on the beds will need changing

The washing bin is filled to the brim

The floor in the kitchen needs scrubbing

The state of the bathroom is grim

I’m fed-up with all of this housework

It really gives me the hump

I think I’ll do some more blogging

And leave the chores to poor old Mr Grump!

Episode 101:Happiness is….. — January 13, 2015

Episode 101:Happiness is…..

Some things that make me feel happy

I can name quite a few

The chill of a crisp autumn morning

A bowl of steaming  hot stew.

The stars that twinkle so brightly,

Going for a swim in the sea

Having a laugh with my family

Drinking a huge mug of tea!

The gorgeous scent of yellow roses

Snuggling up in my bed

Showing off a new hairstyle

Discussing a good book that I’ve read.

Getting a kiss from my daughter

A beautiful sunny, hot day

Soaking in a bath full of bubbles

Bidding for things on eBay!

Cuddling up with my husband

Writing posts for my blog

Hearing my favourite music

Getting welcomed home by the dog

All of these pleasures are simple

But each means the world to me

It’s true what the old proverb tells us

The best things in life are free!

Episode 99: Grumpy Old Git!!! — January 12, 2015

Episode 99: Grumpy Old Git!!!

Today has been a bit hectic

My emotions all over the show

One minute I’m laughing and joking

The next I am feeling so low

But there is one thing that is constant

My husband, good old Mr Grump

No mood swings, forever changing

Just ALWAYS down in the dumps!

He likes a bit of complaining

He mutters and curses away

This bitterness started appearing

Just after his 50th Birthday!

He starts off every morning

Getting out of the wrong side of bed

That sets him off in a bad mood

For the rest of the day ahead!

But deep down he is a big softy

And his bark is worse than his bite

He has his wonderful moments

Which often do come to light

He gets teased by me every second

I laughed when he cut his bald head

As he shaved it to make it look smoother

Then put tissue on when it bled!

So together we make a good couple

And with Miss Hap, that makes us a three

We bumble along in our own way

– Dysfunctional harmony!

Episode 97: Messy Miss Hap! — January 11, 2015

Episode 97: Messy Miss Hap!

My daughter’s room is disgraceful

There are clothes all over the floor

Her school bags are chucked in a corner

And you can’t even open the door!

Her linen is rumpled and crumpled

And piled in a heap on the bed

The poor old goldfish neglected

If it wasn’t for me it’d be dead!

Her keyboard stands right in the centre

It’s lead still plugged into the wall

The bin’s overflowing with rubbish

This mess just won’t do at all.

Well it’s time that she got it all tidied

I’m sick of having to moan…

And nag her to clean up her bedroom

Or I’ll confiscate her iPhone!

The threat worked, and the room is tidy……for now!

Episode 94: An Ode To Music. — January 9, 2015

Episode 94: An Ode To Music.

I do love to listen to music

It really brightens my day

When I am feeling all down and depressive

I dig out some good records to play!

Although my taste is now dated

It doesn’t really matter to me

I can still strut my stuff in my front room

To Spandau Ballet or perhaps ABC!

What about good old Madonna?

She is still going strong

Or perhaps a tune by The Communards

Will have me singing along!

My husband likes to show me his ‘twerking’

To hits that are from yesteryear

It will always set me off laughing

As he is seriously lacking a rear!

Some songs can make me so happy

That I just want to get up and dance

Others will make me all weepy

Remembering a failed young romance!

I am very thankful for music

For lifting me when I am low

It is something that I can rely on

To persuade some of the sadness to go!

Episode 84: ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas…My Version. — December 23, 2014

Episode 84: ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas…My Version.

Stephanie from ‘Once Upon your Prime ‘ did a fantastic spoof on ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas’ which you can read here. I was so impressed with her version, and I wanted to have a go at this myself. Every year I have to read it every night in December to my daughter. we take it in turns to read a verse out each, and we both love it. I have not gone with a theme as Stephanie has, just given it a bit of jiggery-pokery here and there to give my take on it!!   Hope you enjoy…

‘Twas the night before Christmas, with presents to wrap

The turkey still thawing, no time for a nap!

The stocking was dragged out from last year

We’re hoping and praying St Nick will appear!

Miss Hap was all nestled snugly in bed

With iPhones and Converses going around in her head

Mr Grump, me and Roxy at last went to bed

To get ourselves rested for the big day ahead!

When out on the square there arose such a row

I awoke to see what was happening now!

I looked out the window and saw a large crowd

“Bugger off home!”. I shouted out loud.

The moon was hidden by a cloudy grey sky

But I thought I saw something out the corner of me eye.

Eight lively reindeer so happy and bright

Were guiding a sleigh through the darkness of night.

With a little old driver so chubby and cute

Who appeared to be wearing a red and white suit!

His reindeer were racing enjoying the game

He wanted attention so called them by name.

Now Dasher, now Dancer now Prancer and Vixen

On Comet, on Cupid, on Donner and Blitzen

Head for the roof! Head for the trees!

Now hurry up, hurry up, hurry up please!

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly

Are swirling around in the wintery sky

This little old man with his sleigh full of toys

Was ready to reward the good girls and boys.

And then in a twinkling I heard on the roof

The clanking and banging of their bloody great hooves!

The next thing I knew, I heard a loud ‘BOOM’

And St Nicholas had landed in my front room!

He was dressed all in fur from his head to his toes

And I couldn’t help smiling at his odd-looking clothes

He had a large sack that was filled to the top

He looked like a man who had just robbed a shop!

His eyes how they twinkled in spite of his years

His nose was all rosy – and so were his ears!

His mouth was formed into a huge cheesy grin

He appeared as if he’d been hitting the gin!

The butt off a cig was clenched in his lips

And his belt was a little sung round his hips.

The size of his tummy was really quite shocking

And it swayed side to side as if it were rocking!

He was jolly and plump a right happy old thing

And I was excited to see what gift he would bring

He looked at his sack and gave me a smile

And added a parcel to Miss Hap’s huge pile!

He spoke not a word but kept filling her stocking

Then gave me a look that was kind of mocking

And then in an instant he was no longer there

He appeared to have vanished into the night air.

He sprang to his sleigh as night became dawn

And then he was off. It was now Christmas Morn

But I heard him call out as he opened a beer

“Merry Christmas to all, and a Happy New Year!”

Episode 78: Raising A Smile — December 17, 2014

Episode 78: Raising A Smile

Today I am feeling so tired

I can’t be bothered to blog

Although I love to keep posting

Sometimes it’s a bit of a slog!

I know there’s no need to write daily

I can give my poor brain a rest

But I find that when I’m writing

I don’t feel half as depressed!

It’s fun to tell all my stories

About the everyday stuff

A smile can make things seem better

Even if times have been tough!

I am not proficient at crafting

And have not travelled thousands of miles

But I hope that my blog is amusing

And my stories can make you all smile!

Episode 59: On The Home Straight…. — November 28, 2014

Episode 59: On The Home Straight….

The end is getting so near now

I’m starting to see through the fog

Only 3 more days of this pressure

In daily posting my blog!

So many subjects I’ve covered

My brain has been stretched to the max

Thoughts and ideas that are spinning

Oh how I need to relax!

I’ve ranted, I’ve rhymed and I’ve ruminated

On different parts of my life

I’ve aired, I’ve bared and I’ve shared

My tribulations, troubles and strife!

My tank is now running on empty

I’ve hardly got anything left

But I know that once this is over

I’m going to feel so bereft!

For how I have loved being part of

This challenge I set out to do

For not only was it great posting

I read some fantastic blogs too!

Episode 51: Ode to NaBloPoMo — November 20, 2014

Episode 51: Ode to NaBloPoMo

I set myself a challenge

To write a post a day

For the whole month of November

Well, I have a lot to say!

I started pretty strongly

My brain was in top form

The words were flowing freely

Was this going to be the norm?

I followed other bloggers

And commented on their work

So many talented people

Makes me feel like a jerk!

For I am still a novice

And have such a long way to go

My creative juices are ebbing

And it’s still NaBloPoMo!

I’ve looked for inspiration

But it hasn’t come my way

So now I’m going to struggle

To write a post a day!

I’m not going to fail this

I can’t, I’ve just begun

But these words of desperation

Means that today’s post has been done!
