As I mentioned yesterday, I bought a craft magazine with some wool and various patterns with suggestions on what to make it. Miss Hap decided that she liked the monkey pattern, and with the amount of wool we have, we can actually make three of them. Being the type of person that Ii am, I got stuck straight in to it.
Now I am left-handed and my daughter is right-handed and she can’t knit yet. I know in primary school they did have a brief lesson, but she hadn’t quite grasped it. My attempts to teach her have not been successful because I can’t knit the other way round either!
We settled on me doing the first monkey just to make sure that I was able to actually make it myself (I can knit but have only tried knitting a toy once which was a bit of a disaster),
I knitted up all the various parts of the monkey quite nicely, but as my sewing skills are pretty rubbish, the finished result (as you can see) is a poor little scruffy monkey that already looks like he has been kicked around the block a few times!
Miss Hap, however, loves it!
Well done! I’ve only ever knitted scarves and hats, nothing as complicated as a toy. I think it looks really cute. No wonder Miss Hap loves it! You’ve inspired me; I may just pull out my knitting needles today! 🙂

Thank you Tonya. He has one eye bigger than the other, and wonky legs, but yes I suppose he is kind of cute. I really enjoyed knitting him, and I too will probably do some more knitting today, 🙂

I think that the bigger eye and wonky legs give him character. Enjoy your day! 🙂

He’s cute, and his imperfections give him character! I’m just impressed because I’ve never tried to knit anything, so you’re way ahead of me!

Thank you. I haven’t knitted anything for ages, the last thing being a shawl for my sister. In the past I have knitted jumpers and also baby things. It’s nice actually to get back into it.

I love it! And you did it so fast!!! I see lots more knitting in your future.
There are lots of you tubes about knitting so your daughter could learn that way. And then you both could join Ravelry.com a great knitting and crocheting online community with millions of members that love to help newbies (and oldbies!)

Thanks so much Mary Anne. Yes my daughter will have to watch You tube for a tutorial as it seems I can’t teach her, I will have a look at Ravelry. It’s always good to have advice from others no matter how experienced – or not you may be. 🙂

You’re hilarious. Why don’t you knit some yellow dice to hang from the rear vision mirror in your bad boy car next?
