I have really got into the Blogging from A-Z Challenge now and am enjoying it immensely. Today we will be looking at the prim and proper letter ‘P.’ It can be a bit prissy and pious but has just enough curve in it to make it playful as well. Today’s word is a real oldie. but not goodie. It is rather sinister actually…so let me acquaint you with…..
Pernicious. Yes this word sounds pretty nasty which it is…. an unhealthy pallor of a word; its malevolent intentions to injure and destroy with malignant intention, as it wreaks havoc wherever it goes.
It is a noxious and evil influence. a fatal flaw in an already diseased mind, corrupting and harmful, all-encompassing and pervading.
Not something you want to encounter very often!

Tomorrow, I’m making pernil. Does that count?

Here’s hoping. I’ve read so many conflicting cooking times and temperatures, I hardly know what I’m doing. Nothing ventured . . .

Exactly. It looks mouth-wateringly delicious so will surely be well worth it 🙂

I’ve eaten plenty of them, but I’ve never made one unsupervised before. My Puerto Rican ex-mother-in-law used to make a killer pernil, but I’ve forgotten everything she taught me. Basically, I lost the recipe in the divorce.

Oh that’s a bit of a bummer, but if you give it a go, maybe it might jog your memory a bit. If not, then you will just have your own killer pernil instead! 🙂

Not a very nice word, oddly enough, It’s one my mother uses often… says a lot, really!

Really? I rarely hear it except when it is applied to someone that has ‘pernicious anemia.’

Pernicious sounds to me like it should be the villain in a melodrama.. like a cross between vicious and pervy!

Judy E Martin
Hello, and thanks for stopping by. I am Judy, in my (very) early fifties and decided that life definitely gets more interesting as it goes on! I am a wife and a mum and have just finished University as a Registered Nurse, after having worked as an Associate Practitioner in the NHS. I am also a poet and the author of my debut book, 'Rhymes of the Times.' I love to laugh, and I love rhyming words too, so I joined the two together, and my book was born. I am currently working on another book in the series also. I am a prolific blogger and enjoy writing funny stories, anecdotes, and anything really that takes my fancy.
