Hooray, it is Wednesday which means it must be time to unearth an underused word, dust it off, and give it an outing. Today’s word is wonderful,in its own right but also because it has so many wonderful synonyms too.
Unctuous. Oooh what a slimy, slippery word this is, bowing and scraping sycophantically. It creeps and crawls, grovelling in its greasiness culminating in a cringe worthy display of ass kissing, bum sucking, gushing at its absolute worst!
It is insipidly insincere; this flattery and fawning is too subservient and self-serving, not to mention nauseating and naff!
Reminds me of Uriah Heap from Dickens.

I love these Wacky Wednesday posts. Not only the words you choose but the rhythm of the post. It really needs music 🙂 “Oooh, what a slimy, slippery word this is,…” I can just hear it chanted to a children’s melody. 🙂

Thanks so much Aimer. I am so pleased you enjoy the rhythm as I try to get the flow right as well.

This is me!
Judy E Martin
Hello, and thanks for stopping by. I am Judy, in my (very) early fifties and decided that life definitely gets more interesting as it goes on! I am a wife and a mum and have just finished University as a Registered Nurse, after having worked as an Associate Practitioner in the NHS. I am also a poet and the author of my debut book, 'Rhymes of the Times.' I love to laugh, and I love rhyming words too, so I joined the two together, and my book was born. I am currently working on another book in the series also. I am a prolific blogger and enjoy writing funny stories, anecdotes, and anything really that takes my fancy.
