Well done to Hugh for some fantastic timing here! For his weekly photo challenge, he has chosen ‘love’ as the theme this week.
I have been overwhelmed with love today, and I am touched almost beyond words. As you may know, it is my 50th birthday today. Now I am a quiet kind of a girl and for me, it was about sharing the day with family. I come from rather a large family so was not able to spend it with everyone, plus one of my nieces is expecting her first child any day (it is overdue now), so she is ‘waiting it out’ at home!
Anyway, as I was getting ready for a girly breakfast with Miss Hap, my two sisters mum and one of my nieces we took a couple of selfies of course (I am nothing if not a cool mum, well in my head anyway)!
We went off to have a rather posh fry up in a lovely hotel set in beautiful grounds. My younger sister also shares her birthday with me but is two years younger, so we took some time opening our presents before breakfast. It was such a beautiful day that we sat outside after breakfast, enjoying the sunshine.
Finally, it was time for the cake! Actually, we were all too full to have any, but here is the cake in all its glory

As my sister whose birthday it also was, made me this cake I felt it only fair we shared it so we had a boob each!
The rest of the day was spent with my sister-in-law, and then Mr Grump barbecued some steak (any excuse to fire up the BBQ), for a gorgeous dinner which my niece joined us for. All in all, the perfect day for me.
Not only that, but I was shown so much love and good wishes from our lovely blogging community and blogging family, that I feel truly blessed. Thank you all so much.
Oh, and my motto today was ‘still got it at fifty, even if I didn’t have it to start with!’
That sounds like a really awesome day, Sis! And the weather was lovely too as much as I can see on the pics. Really a day I would love to spend the same way! So happy for you, Sis! No enjoy the last hours of your big day!!! Love you lots!!!!💖😘💖😘💖

Not only a great entry to my photo challenge this week but a beautiful post, Judy. It’s just so full of love.
What a fantastic birthday you’ve had. The cake is so me 😀 I love it! Your sister has a great cake baking and cake decorating talent. If she doesn’t already then she should consider setting up her own business in cake decorating. I’m sure she’d do really well.
Thank you for sharing your perfect day with us all.

Thanks so much Hugh. Yes, that cake was brilliant. Although my sister made my wedding cake as well and also does other family member’s birthday cakes, she doesn’t do them for a living, but I agree with you, she should! 🙂

Hello, and thanks for stopping by. I am Judy, in my (very) early fifties and decided that life definitely gets more interesting as it goes on! I am a wife and a mum and have just finished University as a Registered Nurse, after having worked as an Associate Practitioner in the NHS. I am also a poet and the author of my debut book, 'Rhymes of the Times.' I love to laugh, and I love rhyming words too, so I joined the two together, and my book was born. I am currently working on another book in the series also. I am a prolific blogger and enjoy writing funny stories, anecdotes, and anything really that takes my fancy.
