hughs-weekly

Well done to Hugh for some fantastic timing here! For his weekly photo challenge, he has chosen ‘love’ as the theme this week.

I have been overwhelmed with love today, and I am touched almost beyond words. As you may know, it is my 50th birthday today. Now I am a quiet kind of a girl and for me, it was about sharing the day with family. I come from rather a large family so was not able to spend it with everyone, plus one of my nieces is expecting her first child any day (it is overdue now), so she is ‘waiting it out’ at home!

Anyway, as I was getting ready for a girly breakfast with Miss Hap, my two sisters mum and one of my nieces we took a couple of selfies of course (I am nothing if not a cool mum, well in my head anyway)!

We went off to have a rather posh fry up in a lovely hotel set in beautiful grounds. My younger sister also shares her birthday with me but is two years younger, so we took some time opening our presents before breakfast.  It was such a beautiful day that we sat outside after breakfast, enjoying the sunshine.

Finally, it was time for the cake! Actually, we were all too full to have any, but here is the cake in all its glory

Boobylicious cake
Boobylicious!

As my sister whose birthday it also was, made me this cake I felt it only fair we shared it so we had a boob each!

The rest of the day was spent with my sister-in-law, and then Mr Grump barbecued some steak (any excuse to fire up the BBQ),  for a gorgeous dinner which my niece joined us for. All in all, the perfect day for me.

Not only that, but I was shown so much love and good wishes from our lovely blogging community and blogging family, that I feel truly blessed. Thank you all so much.

Oh, and my motto today was ‘still got it at fifty, even if I didn’t have it to start with!’
