I am taking part in Ronovan and Colleen’s Writers Quote Wednesday Challenge, and this week we have been given ‘obsession’ as our prompt word.
I felt that the following quote by sculptor, Henry Moore, pretty much sums up how I feel, and will be the subject of my poem.
βThe creative habit is like a drug. The particular obsession changes, but the excitement, the thrill of your creation lasts.β
-Henry Moore
I have a bit of a problem
That I really ought to confess
Whenever I find a new hobby
I suddenly start to obsess!
First of all, it was sewing
I spent loads of money on that
But sadly, most of my creations
Were nothing better than tat!
I also get caught up in knitting
Stockpiling mountains of wool
With so many projects unfinished
I really am such a fool!
I had a go at card making
Buying up lots of supplies
I made a card for my daughter
After five or six tries!
And then I discovered blogging
As a way to cope with depression
I have slowly formed an addiction
And have yet another obsession!
Judy! This poem was so darn cute! I loved it and it sure nails most women! LOL! I had to laugh because it was so darn true! π β€

I think I’m obsessed with your poem! Ha, ha! I love it! I can relate to both Henry Moore’s quote and your poem. A creative mind needs an outlet. π

Let’s face it, when one gets bored, it’s time for something else and there are sooo many ‘elses’ to choose from. π

Great poem, Judy! And, so accurate for most of us. I think it’s easy to become obsessed when we really enjoy doing something. ?

I think women just dabble into all sorts. I went for sewing classes, spent good money too, start knitting and stop, hardly finishing it….

Yes, I tend to get fed up half way through (that is normally when I have realised I have done something wrong)! π

Hello, and thanks for stopping by. I am Judy, in my (very) early fifties and decided that life definitely gets more interesting as it goes on! I am a wife and a mum and have just finished University as a Registered Nurse, after having worked as an Associate Practitioner in the NHS. I am also a poet and the author of my debut book, 'Rhymes of the Times.' I love to laugh, and I love rhyming words too, so I joined the two together, and my book was born. I am currently working on another book in the series also. I am a prolific blogger and enjoy writing funny stories, anecdotes, and anything really that takes my fancy.
