I hope that you are enjoying my posts from Linda’s Just Jot it January as much as I am enjoying writing them.
Here is today’s prompt word.
Your prompt for January 25th, 2018, brought to you by my dear friend Dar, is “Prediction.” Use it any way you’d like in your post. And make sure you visit Dar at her blog, “Darswords” to read her post and say hi! Here’s her link: https://darsword.wordpress.com/
Throughout history, there have been several people who have made predictions as to what may happen in the future. I have heard of several of these and, for some reason (maybe my glass half empty kind of approach), I always seem to remember the disasters and general doom and gloom that the predictions foretold.
Nostradamus was particularly prolific in his prophecy telling. Despite writing them in such a way that they were difficult to interpret, he is believed to have predicted the Great Fire of London as well as the attack on the World Trade Centre. Given that Nostradamus died in 1566, it is astounding to think that he was ‘seeing visions’ of aeroplanes that would not be invented for centuries!
Similarly, a fictional story called’ ‘Futility, Or The Wreck of the Titan’ was almost a carbon copy of what actually happened to the ‘Titanic,’ fourteen years later. I do find that pretty creepy!
The year 1999 was a popular one, mainly because there were many predictions that this was the year the world was going to end. It didn’t of course! Luckily, not even the Y2K virus that was terrifying everyone, promising total global chaos to everything computerised, managed to cause a commotion at the end of the year. In fact, it turned out to be a bit of a damp squib which did not extinguish the fabulous fireworks that rang in the new millennium!
Two very different outcomes of predictions that have been made. Do you take notice of predictions, or do you think they are they a load of nonsense, or handy coincidences?
I think they are often a total fluke if they come true, but there are some out there with a real gift… but how are we to know who is truly able to predict, and who is just cashing in on an idea?!

Great post Sis very interesting, I find Nostradamus very interesting and also it’s amazing that Leonardo Da Vinci drew helicopters and tanks, he died in 1519! I think there is more to this than meets the eye. I for one am happy to leave it like that. I predict that we have a good day ????

Yes, Jules Verne also predicted the rocket ship way before his time. There really must be something in it, although it is hard to know for sure. I hope your prediction is right, Sis. I had an exam first thing this morning but have to wait 3 weeks for results! ??

I read an article recently, Judy, that said that Nostradamus’ predictions have all been disproved. It was quite interesting.

Now that is interesting. Mind you, in some ways, I am not surprised as those quatrains were pretty cryptic to say the least, and I suppose, could be manipulated in several different ways.

What a big topic! I believe that predictions are possible. We all can have “this feeling”. Kind of a primary instinct our gut feeling is. But also dreams or sudden visions can happen. In the end, it is our spirit or soul connecting with a higher energy. There is so much more about it!

Oh yes, it is a massively complex subject to understand, and so many different aspects of it. 🙂

There is so much about it!! We may really feel things to happen. But for example cards only show the momentary situation and make it clear or they can show a probable outcome if we follow the same path. But if we change something about it the cards will tell something different. Regarding that we are the master of our destiny. Oh, well, I could go on now… lol!

Yes, I understand a little about Tarot cards and you are right, they do show a path relevant at that time, it is up to us whether or not we choose it!

Hello, and thanks for stopping by. I am Judy, in my (very) early fifties and decided that life definitely gets more interesting as it goes on! I am a wife and a mum and have just finished University as a Registered Nurse, after having worked as an Associate Practitioner in the NHS. I am also a poet and the author of my debut book, 'Rhymes of the Times.' I love to laugh, and I love rhyming words too, so I joined the two together, and my book was born. I am currently working on another book in the series also. I am a prolific blogger and enjoy writing funny stories, anecdotes, and anything really that takes my fancy.
