Episode 429: Sisters

A sister is a good friend

Who knows you very well

A sister is a confidante

To whom secrets you can tell

A sister is a shoulder

To cry on when you’re sad

A sister is a comfort

For when things turn out bad

A sister is a treasure

More precious than pure gold

A sister can be relied on

Whatever the future holds

A sister will support you

In all you say and do

A sister is a Godsend

And lucky me to have two!

Although I have published this poem on my blog before, I decided it needed another airing!

Free-For-All Friday #21

It’s Friday already, how this week has raced past. Time to take it easy now and relax with some wonderful reading material, courtesy of our wonderful blogging friends. This week I have chosen some thoughtful, funny, thankful and downright silly posts for you to enjoy. Please do go and visit these blogs as they all have loads more posts that are just as brilliant!

Beyond The Picket Fence This post is something I dread when my daughter gets a bit older, especially when I remember what I was like!  This is thoughtful and honest and I enjoyed it.

Nutsrok Now Linda’s blog always guarantees a good laugh. She is one fantastic story-teller with a wacky family which always gives her plenty of fodder for her posts. This post is a little different but no less funny.

The Ninth Life Although this is a very short post, it is no less inspirational, and I could certainly relate to it.

A View From My Summerhouse  As you now I love a bit of Flash Fiction. Here it is done with a slight twist as it is in the form of a poem.

But I Smile Anyway. Ritu’s blog always has a bit of everything on it, but all of it is positive and happy. This short post is very good advice indeed.

A Prompt Reply This post was lovely. The photos were so beautiful, and it is lovely to hear about someone discovering a new passion!

Susie Speaks A positive and happy post, reminding us all that we do have many wonderful things in our lives when we stop and think about it.

I hope you enjoy these posts as much as I did.

Happy Friday everyone 🙂

Episode 427: Summertime At The Beach! —

Episode 427: Summertime At The Beach!

It is my day off today, and as the weather has been so hot and sunny, we decided last night that we would go to the seaside today. Miss Hap has broken up for the school holidays and Mr Grump has this week off. As my world revolves around food I decided that we would take a picnic, and I even made my picnic pie to munch on. After all lazing on the beach with the odd bit of swimming thrown in is hungry work!

This morning we all got up and ready quite early. The weather forecast promised to be good so we set off to the seaside! The sun was shining and in just over 20 mins, we had arrived to the beach we used to go to a lot when we were kids. We pulled into the car park but it was shut! It seemed there was one a little further down the road instead.

We parked up after spending some considerable time on the phone trying to pay for the parking (stupidly we didn’t have the right change). We got that sorted and then decided to go on to the sands. We left our towels and picnic in the boot whilst we checked out whether the tide was in or not.

One we got it we noticed it was decidedly chilly, and a few ominous grey clouds had appeared. Luckily we had bought jumpers etc, and on a positive note had the beach to ourselves.

I even went in for a little paddle (it was bloody FREEZING)!

Unfortunately though, the little huts where you could buy hot drinks, ice creams and even beach goods were all closed so we moved down the coast a little to Dymchurch where Mr Grump and I warmed up with a latte and Miss Hap a hot chocolate!

At least we got a hot drink there (oh and had another car parking phone call)!

It was nice to see the English, Scottish and Welsh flags flying over the small amusement park (which was closed when we for there)! Even the poor donkeys had nothing to do.

It felt as if we were in the Twilight Zone or something; after all, it is the middle of July which is supposed to be summer, and hardly anything was open!

Oh, we ate the picnic in the car!

Episode 426: Wacky Word Wednesday #11 —

Episode 426: Wacky Word Wednesday #11

Hooray,  it is Wednesday which means it must be time to unearth an underused word, dust it off, and give it an outing. Today’s word is wonderful,in its own right but also because it has so many wonderful synonyms too.

Unctuous. Oooh what a slimy, slippery word this is, bowing and scraping sycophantically.  It creeps and crawls, grovelling in its greasiness culminating in a cringe worthy display of ass kissing, bum sucking, gushing at its absolute worst!

It is insipidly insincere; this flattery and fawning is too subservient and self-serving, not to mention nauseating and naff!

Episode 425: A Little Extra Tuesday Tidbit — July 21, 2015

Episode 425: A Little Extra Tuesday Tidbit

I wanted to share this little conversation I had with one of my patients today which I thought you would enjoy as much as I did!

I was doing my routine checks of catheters and cannulas in the afternoon, and I went over to one of my ladies (I’ll call her Betty) as I knew she had a catheter but was not sure about the cannula.

Now this lady is 100 years old and still as sharp as a tack. Most of our patients are not sure what a cannula is, so I said to her,

“Betty, do you have any needles in your arms?”

She came straight back,as quick as a flash with,

“No, but I have had my fair share of pricks in my time!!!”

Priceless. 🙂

Episode 424: Tuesday Tidbit. Mini Thrills! 18+ —

Episode 424: Tuesday Tidbit. Mini Thrills! 18+

Now for today’s Tidbit I thought I would share with you a story that was recently in the news.

A young man  who had been out of work for ages, finally got himself a job as a delivery driver of a fish van. However, whilst he was parked up, a Mini suddenly come hurtling into the back of the van causing some damage.

A young woman got out of the car, and they exchanged insurance details. The poor young man went back to base thinking he was going to lose this job before he had really got started.

However, his boss looked over the footage that was taken from the back of the van, and it seemed that it was not his fault at all. The young lady had been seen removing her ‘Rampant Rabbit’ from inside her trousers before fastening them and getting out of the car.

She must have been some sort of contortionist to manage inserting the device, using the steering wheel ,and changing gears! It seemed like in the throes of passion with her ‘little friend’ she rammed her foot on the gas pedal and smashed into the fish van!

You couldn’t make it up!

Episode 423: Ronovan’s Writes Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt Challenge #54

The words this week for Ronovan’s Weekly Haiku Challenge are ‘think’ and ‘free.’ I thought I would use a pic of myself, older sister and niece dressed up in 70s gear for my sister’s 50th Birthday a few years ago.

Episode 422: Allergic To The Letter ‘E’ Challenge: 2nd Go! — July 19, 2015

Episode 422: Allergic To The Letter ‘E’ Challenge: 2nd Go!

I have been nominated by the wonderful Erika to take part in this challenge. If you have not yet been over to her blog, you are really missing out as she has so much to share. Everything from inspirational quotes to uplifting songs and a bit of sexiness as well!

The rules:

  1. Write a whole paragraph (a paragraph sounds easy right?)
  2. Without any word containing the letter “e” (still easy for ya?)
  3. By reading this you are already signed up.
  4. Challenge at least five bloggers to do the challenge.

Oh this is fun! I must summon up a paragraph which is going to hurt, I think! My poor brain cannot stand the strain of it. I might just rabbit on and on about nothing (as normal) and it may just amount to the paragraph I must muster up! Oh God, what a rubbish post this is, sorry!

Well, that was tricky! I think I will nominate the following people to have a go!
