Blogging From A-Z Challenge: ‘R’

Rrrrrrrrrrrr we are in our stride now with the Blogging From A-Z challenge and are racing ahead rapidly with the letter ‘R.’ This letter has a bit of everything too, its top half is rotund while the bottom reclines at an angle.  I have found a lovely word for today, another of my favourites….Let’s get on with it then……

Ribald. This is a wonderful old-fashioned word, it is the bawdy, behaviour of the boozed-up bard, the coarseness of the Court Jester. This speaks to me of medieval times, where the king has got his hand up a serving wench’s skirt, or a couple of rowdy revellers have nipped off to a quiet corner for a bit of ‘slap and tickle!’

It is immodesty and impropriety, smuttiness and sleaze. The modern-day politician caught with his trousers down being flogged by a dominatrix, type of thing. It is lewd and licentious. seedy and sordid!

It is easy to see why I love this word so much!

Blogging From A-Z Challenge: ‘P’ — April 18, 2015

Blogging From A-Z Challenge: ‘P’

I have really got into the Blogging from A-Z Challenge now and am enjoying it immensely. Today we will be looking at the prim and proper letter ‘P.’ It can be a bit prissy and pious but has just enough curve in it to make it playful as well. Today’s word is a real oldie. but not goodie. It is rather sinister actually…so  let me acquaint you with…..

Pernicious.  Yes this word sounds pretty nasty which it is…. an unhealthy pallor of a word; its malevolent intentions to injure and destroy with malignant intention, as it wreaks havoc wherever it goes.

It is a noxious and evil influence. a fatal flaw in an already diseased mind, corrupting and harmful, all-encompassing and pervading.

Not something you want to encounter very often!

Blogging From A-Z Challenge: ‘O’ — April 17, 2015

Blogging From A-Z Challenge: ‘O’

Today on the Blogging From A-Z Challenge we are looking at the beautifully formed, and wonderfully rounded letter ‘O,’ This is such an open, outgoing letter. that it was difficult to choose a word that does it justice.  I toyed with ‘onomatopoeia’ as I like the sound of it!  However, I have decided upon another ‘blast from the past’ word, that i also like the sound of….. so, without further ado, may I present…..

Oaf. Yep, it is short and not so sweet. It is the klutz that bangs into everything; the village idiot of words that everyone humours.  When an oaf is around, you don’t want to be offering them tea from your best china, unless you are prepared for it to be knocked all over your cream coloured carpet, and smashed to smithereens in the process.

This word conjures up in my mind, a lumbering, great man with hobnail boots, clomping about, treading all over your lawn and squashing your flowers! He had hands like shovels that he has no control over, so he often flails about, gesticulating wildly. God help you if you get in his way, as you are likely to get a whack on the head from his uncoordinated movements. He is well-meaning, but a liability to have around. A calamity waiting to happen; a  clumsy clot of the highest order!

Poor sod, I know how he feels!

Episode 290: Ode To Blogging From A-Zed — April 16, 2015

Episode 290: Ode To Blogging From A-Zed

I always love a challenge

A chance to use my head

I joined two friends and signed up

For the Blogging from A to Zed!

Now it seems to make things harder

You ought to have a theme

So as, I love words so much

I thought that could be my scheme!

I’m more than halfway through now

And it’s really been a blast

I’ve dug around and found some words

That I’ve rescued from the past.

So although I might be ‘flummoxed’

About the right one to choose

I have got ‘ample ‘amounts of ‘corny’ words

Even ‘nincompoops’ can use!

Blogging From A-Z Challenge: ‘N’ —

Blogging From A-Z Challenge: ‘N’

I am over the hump and on the downward stretch of the Blogging From A-Z Challenge and find myself at the naughty but nice letter ‘N.’ The fact that it is so similar in looks to the letter ‘M’ might make it seem pretty nondescript, but I have found a very special and fun word to play with……stand by for……

Nincompoop. This word really is onomatopoeic. It is silly in its buffoonery, daft as a door brush, and a bit of a dunce! It blunders and barges, totters and trips about, making a fool of itself wherever it goes.

Fools and f**kwits, prats and pillocks, as well as dolts and dickheads are what this word is all about! It is having no common sense (or any sense at all really), being oblivious to the bloody obvious, and ignoring what is right in front of you kind of word.

Again, I find as I am writing this, some of it applies to me!

Blogging From A-Z Challenge: ‘M’ — April 15, 2015

Blogging From A-Z Challenge: ‘M’

Well I have made it halfway through the Blogging From A-Z Challenge, and here we are at the letter ‘M.’ This a magnificent, marvellous letter, resplendent in all its majesty! The word that I have chosen for today is one that is very little used nowadays (more’s the pity), but makes me laugh when I hear it.

Mealymouthed.  This word is a kind of insincere slobbering all over someone type of behaviour. It is the sycophantic, snivelling, slavish agreeing with everything you say, (despite not believing a word of it) to get in favour, duplicity.

It is the hypocritical person that does not practice what they preach; spouting off against adulterers, yet has his own mistress! It is the politician who makes all types of artificial promises just to get elected.

The jealous rival giving you a grovelling apology for ‘accidentally’ tripping you up and making you look a fool, or the timid new kid at school awkwardly introducing herself, and going around the houses to get to the point!

Judging by that last definition, I too am a bit mealymouthed!

Blogging From A-Z Challenge: ‘L’ — April 14, 2015

Blogging From A-Z Challenge: ‘L’

The Blogging From A-Z Challenge seems to really be picking up speed now and we have already got to the laid-back letter ‘L.’ This is rather a casual letter, although a little stiff maybe. The word I am going for today is yet another sexy, voluptuous word (I’m on a bit of a roll with these)…so without further ado, my word is…

Luscious. There are a few meanings to this word, but all of them have in common a sensual feel to them. Think of a plump, juicy strawberry, then tart it up a bit by adding a large dollop of fresh cream….yummm. It is the nubile young woman with the thick, shiny hair who looks ravishing, or the gorgeous, athletic-looking Adonis with the piercing blue eyes, talk about hot and sultry!

It is something that appeals to the senses, delectable, mouth-wateringly scrumptious; rich and full-bodied, bursting with appeal, desirable, sexy and downright moreish!

It is my kind of word in every sense!

Blogging From A-Z Challenge: ‘K’ — April 13, 2015

Blogging From A-Z Challenge: ‘K’

Today for the Blogging From A-Z Challenge we have the rather spiky letter ‘K.’ However although it may look all prim and proper, I have found a lovely word that is far from it! Ready…. we are going to kick off with….

Kinky.  Ooooh, the fun we could have with this word! It is the skin-tight rubber catsuit, with 6 inch heels,  thigh-high boots kind of word.  It is the handcuffs, feathers and hot wax sort of games you could play,

The frolics with fruit. the ‘whipping’ into a frenzy, and the……use your imagination with no limits type of behaviour, that I am far too polite to go into here, kind of fun.

Phew! After all that kinkiness, it is time to calm down and talk about its other meaning, which is twisted.(actually that could be applied to some of the deviant practices enjoyed by the other type of kinky, just depends what floats your boat)! It is the curly, springy, type of hairstyle, or even the knotted and contorted garden hose that won’t work until you have straightened it out and then, rewards you by blasting you in the face with a spurt of freezing water!

Oh yes, kinky is a wonderful word, with countless possibilities!

The Daydreamer Challenge: Day 7 Pt 1. — April 12, 2015

The Daydreamer Challenge: Day 7 Pt 1.

It is getting near to the end of the Daydreamer’s Challenge, and the lovely Caitlin would like to know which day we have enjoyed the most and why.

My favourite day was yesterday, day 6 of the Challenge. The reason for this is we got to answer some questions from other bloggers. I think you find out more about a person from this kind of interaction, and it is something a little different too. I feel that it beings us a ll just a little closer which is really lovely.

One of the posts that I have enjoyed reading this week, is by Sophie Speaks Up. This blog is very funny, but Sophie’s enthusiasm really shines through as well. Her excitement when getting notifications that someone has read or commented on her blog I can really relate to. She has gained a lot of followers in a short time which is due to her creative and funny ways with words.

I would like to thank Caitlin very much for organising this challenge. It has been a lot of fun as well as very enlightening to participate in, I am thrilled that she is going to host another challenge in August, and will be signing up for sure!

Daydreamer Challenge: Day 6: Questions From Other Bloggers. — April 11, 2015

Daydreamer Challenge: Day 6: Questions From Other Bloggers.

Today is Day 6 of the Daydreamer Challenge hosted by the lovely Caitlin. Yesterday as part of the challenge, she wanted us to post questions we would like to pose to other bloggers. She has chosen a few of those including her own first question which we are to answer for today’s challenge.

My Question – Can you believe it is coming to the end of the daydreamer challenge? No I can’ actually. I have really enjoyed these challenges, interacting with the other  participants and finding out more about them. I will be sad to see the end of it. Maybe you would consider doing another one  in the future?

Just Call Me Elm Or Something – If you had the chance to meet one of your best internet friends/favourite blogger, would you be nervous before meeting them? I think it is always meeting someone new for the first time even if you had built up a great rapport online. I would worry that we would not get on or something in reality which would spoil a great online friendship. On the other hand, it was be fantastic to be able to meet up with some of the lovely bloggers that I have a real connection with.

Bubbakavangha – How do you describe your mind? Oh my poor mind. It is a bit ‘higgledy-piggledy’ to coin a phrase! I know i go off ion tangents at times and sometimes I forget what I was going to say completely, but I do try to bring some sort of order to it!

But I Smile Anyway– Would you like one of your posts to go viral? I dd answer this one on Ritu’s blog. Yes I would love one of my poems to go viral – but then would be worried that I wouldn’t be able to live up to it!

Silver Sparkling Stories – What’s your biggest fear? Death, I won’t dwell on it, but it is a huge fear for me.

A Random Person Called Annie – How did you feel after you posted your first ever post? Nervous and excited. I didn’t actually think that anyone was going to read it – but they did and I was thrilled.

One Sip At A Time – What’s your favourite phone app? I love to play Candy Crush on my phone/tablet as I find it a great stress reliever!

K.E Wilson – Where do you draw your inspiration? From life, work, family (that’s where I get most of it from), wacky or silly news. Anything that strikes me as funny really!

Lrod’s Blog – Would you rather have your blog go viral or keep t as it is (small audience)? I think many of us would like one of our posts to go viral. However, I have a wonderful group of people who follow my blog and who I love to interact that, No way would I want to lose the friendships I have made, so definitely keep it as is.

Gess Pressing Words – What is the most awkward situation you’ve ever been in? I have been in a few embarrassing situations mainly due to me clumsiness and ineptitude! Things like being signed off for things like would dressings etc where everything has to be kept as sterile as possible, and the equipment needed is all on a sterile field. I have been in the middle of the dressing and hit something onto the floor, whilst a senior nurse looks exasperated and I then have to get clean stuff and start again!

Sophie Speaks Up – If you could have someone’s blog for a month, whose blog would it be? Oooh, I don’t know really. There are so many bloggers that I admire that I could not just choose one.

Rogue Vogue – If you were to re-write the dictionary for the year 2030, what one word would you like to change the description of, and why? I would change the word ‘clumsy’. It would mean pleasantly pleasing, or highly talented or something!

Annemarie & Life – What is your favourite part of the day? (could be a time or an activity etc.) It has got to be early morning for me. I am a real early bird. I love the silence, and being on my own to wake up! I particularly like the early summer mornings with the back door open, sitting at my laptop with a cup of tea.
