Episode 283: Sisters — April 12, 2015

Episode 283: Sisters

A sister is a good friend

Who knows you very well

A sister is a confidante

To whom secrets you can tell

A sister is a shoulder

To cry on when you’re sad

A sister is a comfort

For when things turn out bad

A sister is a treasure

More precious than pure gold

A sister can be relied on

Whatever the future holds

A sister will support you

In all you say and so

A sister is a Godsend

And lucky me to have two!

Episode 271: Easter Wishes. — April 5, 2015

Episode 271: Easter Wishes.

I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Easter. I hope that you have fun whatever you decide to do today. We are going over to my sister’s for a lovely roast, and will probably play a few games. We always have a good time over there.

It is great that none of us are working over Easter for a change, and are able to spend some time together. My mum (who is 82), will also be coming over. and she surprised us all in the summer by being a bit of a mean table tennis player! Despite her arthritis and reduced mobility, she can certainly have us all running about trying to return her killer serves!

Miss Hap has already had a couple of eggs and some new pyjamas (I don’t know why but I always buy her pyjamas at Easter)! The dog has had some doggy chocolate droops as well, so she is happy.

Mr Grump bought me some beautiful flowers instead of chocolate. Unfortunately, I have also had to have some paracetamol! I am full of cold, and ache like hell, but I have been looking forward to spending the day with family, so have dosed myself up in preparation.

Although I am not particularly religious, I do believe in love, friendship, family, honesty, trust and respect, which is the mainstay of most religions anyway.

I hope that however you choose to spend your day, it is filled with joy and happiness.

Happy Easter!

Episode 255 : Five Photos, Five Stories – Day 4: Patience and Love — March 27, 2015

Episode 255 : Five Photos, Five Stories – Day 4: Patience and Love

I recently received the following invitation from Author SB Mazing

I’m about to invite you to join in a challenge I recently accepted. Five Photos, Five Stories. I thought this challenge could present you with the opportunity of viewing blogging from a different angle, to do something different, anything that suits you for that matter. It’s entirely up to you. …

The Five Photos, Five Stories Challenge rules require you to post a photo each day for five consecutive days and attach a story to the photo.  It can be fiction or non-fiction, a poem or simply a short paragraph – it’s entirely up to you.

Miss Hap is really close with my mum, she really loves her Nanny. She likes to go over there for her Sunday roast (granted Mum’s are the best), and the occasional bacon sandwich. They enjoy each other’s company, and it amuses me when Miss Hap occasionally comes out with one of my mum’s ‘classic sayings’ that are old beyond her  years!

Anyway, the photo I chose is one of a ‘Sequin Art’  rose. My daughter had previously done a couple of small Sequin Art pictures, but had decided that she would love to make one of a rose, as it is Nanny’s favourite flower, and give it to her for Christmas.

Now these things are fiddly to say the least, and Miss Hap is not known for her ability to concentrate on anything for more than a nanosecond (well, certainly as far as homework is concerned at least)! However, she spent almost every spare waking moment on finishing this rose in time for Christmas.

The finished result is stunningly beautiful, and of course, is sparkly and eye-catching too. Mum was beyond thrilled and it is hanging up in her front room.

My daughter really loves her Nanny!

I would like to invite  Wendy of the Rock to join in.

Then each day, nominate another blogger to carry on this challenge.

Accepting the challenge is entirely up to the person nominated, it is not a command. And actually everyone can join in. So feel free to if you like the idea.

Episode 248: Love In 10 Sentences Challenge — March 24, 2015

Episode 248: Love In 10 Sentences Challenge

I have been challenged to write a love poem in 10 sentences by Ritu over at But I Smile Anyway.

As I do love a poem (and a challenge) I have decided that I will accept.

What to I need to do?

The challenge is to write a poem about love and title it “Love in Ten Sentences.”

It must have 10 lines, each 4 words long.

Every line must contain the word “love.”

At the end of the poem, you must include a favourite quote about love.

Then challenge fifteen other bloggers.

Here is my attempt:

Love is a heartbeat

Love is a hand

Love is so empowering

Love is to understand

Love is a footprint

Love is a song

Love is a vigil

Love is so strong

Love is for you

Love pure and true

My favourite quote is:

Keep love in your heart. A life without it is like a sunless garden when the flowers are dead.

My Challenge goes out to the following blogs (should they choose to accept it):

Love is my husband

Love i

Episode 164: Hearts and Flowers, Tissues and Snot! — February 15, 2015

Episode 164: Hearts and Flowers, Tissues and Snot!

Well what a wonderful day Valentine’s Day turned out to be! Miss Hap started the day off on the right note by waking Mr Grump up at 6.30 (I was already up an hour before). For some reason, she had decided that it was the perfect time to have a very loud telephone conversation with her friend that she was meeting up with a little later.

I meanwhile, was up sneezing my head off! From out of nowhere a  nasty cold had appeared the night before, decided it liked the look of me, and would hang around for a while, settling in and making itself comfy. This left me with half-open watery eyes and a lively red nose, I decided that I might as well stay in my pyjamas to complete the look.

Miss Hap eventually met her friend (after taking ages choosing the right outfit, and making a racket about it) so Me and Mr Grump had some time to ourselves. He had chores to do though, and I was flat-out on the sofa for most of the morning,We did however exchange cards and he bought me my favourite yellow roses which was lovely.

Miss Hap was originally going to stay with her Nan for the night, but plans were changed so she was joining us for our ‘romantic steak dinner’. I decided to ‘slip into something more comfortable’ for the meal, so had a bath and put on fresh pyjamas! Well I thought that it was more in keeping with the Vaseline around my nose. I didn’t have any wine due to dosing myself up with painkillers.

There was a little streak left over so Mr Grump insisted we give it to Roxy the dog as she is a girl and needed to be treated on Valentine’s Day as well! Anyway, dinner over and Miss Hap heads off upstairs out of germ’s way. I conk out on the sofa at 7pm for a couple of hours wake up for half an hour and then go to bed! Mr Grump, defeated, had started on the beer!

This is what real love is like! It’s not always hearts and flowers, it’s just being together, and making the most of it!
