It’s Wednesday, time to have a bit of fun with a wacky, weird or wonderful word (or perhaps all three)! It’s going to be a sizzling hot day today apparently, but I have decided not to get all hot and bothered with a raunchy word. No, I am going to keep things cool, with a great word that has an almost comedic ring to it.
Ramshackle.ย This is a bit of a rundown and rickety word; dilapidated and derelict, like an old ruin, crumbling and collapsing, teetering and tottering on the brink of breaking down into tiny fragments.
It is flimsy and frail, wobbly and worn-out,ย neglected and quite frankly knackered! Actually it sounds a lot like me! ๐
I love what you do with these Wednesday words ๐ Please tell me you use Google to find the synonyms. Because, if you can think of all these off the top of your head, I’m really pretty freaking impressed ๐

Thanks so much Aimer. Don’t be too impressed as I do end up using a thesaurus!

Love ramshackle and the way if rolls of your tongue. I expect whatever I call ramshackle will dissolve before my eyes as the say the word aloud. ๐ ๐ ๐

๐ ๐ ๐ Good point. I see disintegration in my mind immediately as I say the word. ๐ฎ

The funny thing about this word and other compound words is that I often separate them. So with Ramshackle, I’m thinking about ‘ram’ and then ‘shackle’. And I think you and Rob are bad influences (Tidbit Tuesday) because my mind is absolutely in the gutter about this word – broken up into 2. ๐

Ha Ha! I love the way your mind works. Nothing wrong with it being in the gutter at all, that is after all, where you will normally find mine! ๐

Ramshackle and Tidbit Tuesday are mentioned in the same sentence? haha! I’ll have to ponder this one for a bit.

Hello, and thanks for stopping by. I am Judy, in my (very) early fifties and decided that life definitely gets more interesting as it goes on! I am a wife and a mum and have just finished University as a Registered Nurse, after having worked as an Associate Practitioner in the NHS. I am also a poet and the author of my debut book, 'Rhymes of the Times.' I love to laugh, and I love rhyming words too, so I joined the two together, and my book was born. I am currently working on another book in the series also. I am a prolific blogger and enjoy writing funny stories, anecdotes, and anything really that takes my fancy.
