The recent cold weather assures me that winter is well and truly on its way now. Although it does have many good points, which you can check out here, these are some of the things that I hate about it!
Well least, I would if I didn’t have my husband to do it for me! I am lucky in that Mr Grump will defrost my car when he comes back from taking the dog out for her early morning walk.
Coats are so bulky to drive in, so I take it off. Then put it on again (if it is really cold), then take it off…As soon as I go into a warm room I get boiling hot, so despite the freezing conditions outside, I rarely wear jumpers in case I combust!

Although the rain looks fine and wispy, it doesn’t take long before it soaks right through you. I would rather just have a downpour and be done with it!

Getting up at dark o’clock and coming home from work in the dark makes winter pretty drab and depressing.
Constantly! Despite always trying my best to protect myself again those winter germs, and religiously getting my flu jab, I always end up getting at least one nasty cold.
What bugs you about winter?!
Mine would be:
The Cold
The Dark
The Cold
The Dark
Colds!

I’m with you on the wearing of coats and the constant changes in temperature. Why are trains and shops so blinking HOT – I have to strip down to my Tshirt and carry all the other layers around.
Greyness – hate prolonged greyness. Luckily it’s been quite sunny here so far.
Keep healthy!

Yes greyness makes me feel miserable. I don’t mind the cold when the sun is shining as well, just like it was today 🙂

I don’t like scraping the ice from my car. I have a six year plan to have a larger garage built. I hope it pans out.
I also hate wearing a coat. While I wear sweaters/jumpers outside and at home, I seldom wear them to places like work or shops — just like you, I get too hot!

I hate walking the dog when the pavements are covered in ice and snow slipping all over the place.
Dark mornings and afternoons.
Cold damp.
Fog.
Christmas shopping.

HA! Yes the fog. It is really bad here I have noticed as there are so many hills!! 🙂

He he, Judy. What I had about winter is that there is no snow and we hardly get any cold weather at all so it hardly feels like a change. Imagine having your white Christmas around a swimming pool. It is so disappointing.

HA! I am with you on most of those, JP. especially the sneezing one! Although I love Christmas, I hate shopping for presents as I never know what to get anyone! 🙂

lol, you know me, Judy, and how much I love the winter. However, I have to agree with you on the bulky coats and then going into shops and finding that my clothes get soaked because of all the sweat my body produces as it tries to cool me down. I don’t mind it getting dark early as I find those evenings in so contenting and, usually, we have better things to watch on the TV than we do during the summer months. I’m also a great lover of Christmas, and as my Birthday is also during the winter I get a double dose of pressies in a very short space of time. Well, I say that, because there are some cruel elves who say to me ‘this is your Christmas and birthday present combined.’ Grrr! What’s all that about? I wouldn’t say that to anybody with a birthday during the summer, would I? ?

HAAHA! I know what you mean about the combined Christmas and birthday presents, Hugh. Although my birthday is in February, I have had that happen to me! Naughty Elves! 🙂

What? That’s such a cruel thing to do to us winter babies, Judy. I also get grumpy when they wrap my birthday present up in Christmas paper – That get’s an even bigger Grrrrrrrr!

Oh No, I have not had that happen yet! That is beyond naughty! 🙂

I think the darkness is what bothers people the most. It is not only a disliking but has a serious effect on our whole system. I realized it last Sunday when I was completely out of battery. And this gets worse every year… I think I am getting old… lol!

I agree, Sis. The darkness really gets to me, even more so as i get older!

I experience the same, the older the more the darkness weighs on me.

On a week day my lovely hubby usually gets the scraping started on my car which is lovely. I don’t like the ice and snow it’s just so dangerous! I also really don’t like driving to and from work in the dark I feel like I don’t actually see any sunlight for months Monday-Friday. The mornings and evenings are starting to get lighter which makes me so happy!

You and me both Rachael to all of the above. I have been lucky enough not to have to drive in the snow so far this year, but there has been ice and loads of thick fog which is not pleasant either! Roll on the spring! 🙂

As you know, I like the winter. HOWEVER…
1. the dark — is it always dark or what?!?
2. scraping ice from the car — often in the dark 😦
3. the driest skin ever — seriously, am i a leper?
4. lack of sandals — i like to be as barefooted as i can be!
5. brittle nails — seriously, broke my nail on a sandwich last week. wasn’t even crispy.

I thought it was just me with the brittle nails in winter that snap as soon as look at them! I love my sandals but I also love boots in the winter! (Actually I just love boots and shoes, full stop)! 🙂

Hello, and thanks for stopping by. I am Judy, in my (very) early fifties and decided that life definitely gets more interesting as it goes on! I am a wife and a mum and have just finished University as a Registered Nurse, after having worked as an Associate Practitioner in the NHS. I am also a poet and the author of my debut book, 'Rhymes of the Times.' I love to laugh, and I love rhyming words too, so I joined the two together, and my book was born. I am currently working on another book in the series also. I am a prolific blogger and enjoy writing funny stories, anecdotes, and anything really that takes my fancy.
