We are into the second week now of Linda’s Just Jot it January. It is so nice having all these different and diverse prompts to use to get my brain working and I am still enjoying the challenge.
Anyway without further ado, here is today’s prompt word.
Your prompt for January 9th, 2018, brought to you by the lovely Barbara, is “Coffee.” Use it any way you’d like in your post. And make sure you visit Barbara at her blog, “teleportingweena” to read her post and say hi! Here’s her link: https://teleportingweena.wordpress.com/
I love a decent cup of coffee, but more often than not, just drink instant! I did have a fancy coffee machine that froths up the milk and everything, but it is up in the loft. The problem is that it has too many parts to wash up and clean and I was too lazy to fuss about with it.
I have got a cafetière that I drag out now and again when I fancy a nicer cup of coffee, but the problem there is, although it is not a problem to clean, I like to have cream in it which of course, is not good for my waistline. At least with instant, I use semi or skimmed milk when being really good,
I drink much more tea at home anyway, and tend to have coffee at work or when I go to a cafe. I am rather partial to a latte and enjoy that when I am at Uni, and even go as far as to have a skinny one. I don’t anywhere else though for some reason, preferring to go the whole hog with whatever milk they use as standard.
I usually take a flask of coffee to work or if we go on a trip somewhere as tea doesn’t taste so great in a flask. I didn’t realise that I was so fussy!
In the US, instant coffee was really popular in the Fifties and Sixties. Apparently a lot of WWII and Korea veterans would get it with their rations and got to love it.

Haha you use a flask. That’s awesome. Ever worry that someone might think it’s not – or not JUST – coffee that you are drinking?

HA! I think it would be more fun to keep them guessing! 🙂

Nice post, Judy. I drink one cappuccino a day at work. The guy at the coffee stands knows to make if weak, more like coffee flavoured milk than anything else. I only ever have one as I am hyperactive [or so I am told].

HA! I never stop when I am at work, but sadly the minute I get in, I flump down exhausted. I wish I had your energy, Robbie 🙂

I just want to say Judy that I like your ‘easy reading’ style – like you are just talking to me. I love your photo: candid and you are a young looking “early fifties”.

Hi and thank you so much for coming over. I am really happy that you like my writing style, I feel that it is friendlier and is just how I talk, so it means a lot that others can relate to it.
Thanks for saying I am young looking too, I don’t know what is the biggest compliment out of those two, but I’ll take them both!! Thanks again, I really appreciate your visit 🙂

Enjoy your instant coffee, Sis! I used to drink more instant coffee too, many years ago, when I did not have a coffee maker. But since I do have one… not anymore… lol!

HA! Well it is due to my own laziness that i drink instant

As long as you are fine with it, that is all that matters ?

Thanks for writing to the coffee prompt! I can understand how a fancy machine would be a lot of trouble, I, myself, am not a fancy coffee drinker, so I like it easy and fast. I do like those instant ‘International’ flavored coffees that come in a square looking box. 🙂

Yes, they can be really nice. A friend of mine used to like them 🙂

Kim, thank you so much. I am honoured and humbled that you thought of me.
I decided some time ago that my blog would be award free as I did not have the time to do them justice anymore.
Congratulations to you for being nominated, it is very well-deserved. xx

We have a machine downstairs – I hear it crank up every morning. It looks like the guys fro NASA built it. To think I grew up on Mellow Birds. You’re probably to young to remember that !

I remember Mellow Birds very well JP and their tag line ..’to make you smile.’
I even remember my Nan drinking Camp coffee, that liquid chicory flavoured stuff that was absolutely vile!
I envy you your fancy coffee machine, but not the cleaning of it!

Hello, and thanks for stopping by. I am Judy, in my (very) early fifties and decided that life definitely gets more interesting as it goes on! I am a wife and a mum and have just finished University as a Registered Nurse, after having worked as an Associate Practitioner in the NHS. I am also a poet and the author of my debut book, 'Rhymes of the Times.' I love to laugh, and I love rhyming words too, so I joined the two together, and my book was born. I am currently working on another book in the series also. I am a prolific blogger and enjoy writing funny stories, anecdotes, and anything really that takes my fancy.
