This week we have ‘wood’ to work with for TJ’s challenge. Now, I could have chosen any number of things, chairs, tables, etc. but I thought I would write about our poor old garden fence instead.
Battered and broken,
propped up, drunkenly swaying
Its days are numbered!
Clever! It sounds like your fence has lived a full fence life. 😉

Really cool… Now for the odd thought… This described my mother’s father, whose last name was Wood.

Yes, it was tragic. As he has been gone 50 years, I would imagine he has had plenty of time to reflect and “mend some fences” 😉

Nice Haiku, Judy. “drunkenly swaying” so visual, love it. Interesting timing, as yesterday I struggled with our backyard gate. It had fallen a while ago, lying in the snow, “broken and battered”. I heaved it up and leaned it against the fence hoping to keep my daughter’s dog from escaping onto the street and ending up splattered. Mind you, a half decent wind could knock it down again but that’s as handy as we get around our place 🙂

I am not into DIY either, but my husband put the fence up in the first place a few years ago. He fusses every time we have a windy day, and it managed to survive! This year, however ,it has succumbed! 😦

That is a haiku loaded with great visuals! Maybe you can re-purpose some of the wood into something to remember all the fence’s years of service 😉

Well my husband is pretty handy, so he might be able to do something with it 🙂

Hello, and thanks for stopping by. I am Judy, in my (very) early fifties and decided that life definitely gets more interesting as it goes on! I am a wife and a mum and have just finished University as a Registered Nurse, after having worked as an Associate Practitioner in the NHS. I am also a poet and the author of my debut book, 'Rhymes of the Times.' I love to laugh, and I love rhyming words too, so I joined the two together, and my book was born. I am currently working on another book in the series also. I am a prolific blogger and enjoy writing funny stories, anecdotes, and anything really that takes my fancy.
