It’s Party Time!

I’m going to a party 🙂

suzie81speaks's avatarSuzie Speaks

imageThis week marks my two year blogiversary, and I decided that the best way to celebrate would be to invite you all to my blog party!

It has been quite a while since I last hosted a blog party, and I absolutely love them, so I’d like you all to put on your best outfits, grab a drink (mine is a Mojito for anyone that’s interested) and get your blog on! For those of you that have never participated in one before, the rules are simple:

1. Choose your favourite post from your own blog. The subject of the post can be anything you like – blogging, food, parenting, life, travel, thoughts, photography… Note: This should be only one post at a time or it will get sent straight to the ‘spam’ folder and I may not be able to find you for a while. I don’t have an issue…

The Daydreamer Challenge: Day 7 Pt 1. —

The Daydreamer Challenge: Day 7 Pt 1.

It is getting near to the end of the Daydreamer’s Challenge, and the lovely Caitlin would like to know which day we have enjoyed the most and why.

My favourite day was yesterday, day 6 of the Challenge. The reason for this is we got to answer some questions from other bloggers. I think you find out more about a person from this kind of interaction, and it is something a little different too. I feel that it beings us a ll just a little closer which is really lovely.

One of the posts that I have enjoyed reading this week, is by Sophie Speaks Up. This blog is very funny, but Sophie’s enthusiasm really shines through as well. Her excitement when getting notifications that someone has read or commented on her blog I can really relate to. She has gained a lot of followers in a short time which is due to her creative and funny ways with words.

I would like to thank Caitlin very much for organising this challenge. It has been a lot of fun as well as very enlightening to participate in, I am thrilled that she is going to host another challenge in August, and will be signing up for sure!

Dear Awesome Reader,

We have come to the end of the Daydreamer Challenge! I can’t believe how quickly it has gone! Thank you so much to all of for joining in the challenge and thank you for making it so successful!

Because of how much I have enjoyed it, I will do another Daydreamer Challenge in the summer holidays in August!

Now, I have a confession…

I couldn’t keep track of the points! I’m sorry but all of you who took part got well over 100 points and there were too many points to be given!

So for everyone who completed the Daydreamer Challenge, I will be writing some nice things about your blog and linking to my favourite post that you did.

Firstly though, today’s challenge is to write about what your favourite day of the Daydreamer Challenge was and why, what were your favourite posts that other…

Episode 283: Sisters —

Episode 283: Sisters

A sister is a good friend

Who knows you very well

A sister is a confidante

To whom secrets you can tell

A sister is a shoulder

To cry on when you’re sad

A sister is a comfort

For when things turn out bad

A sister is a treasure

More precious than pure gold

A sister can be relied on

Whatever the future holds

A sister will support you

In all you say and so

A sister is a Godsend

And lucky me to have two!

Episode 282: Fancy A Bunk-Up? —

Episode 282: Fancy A Bunk-Up?

You are never too old for a bit of loving, and when you get to 82, you know a trick or two about the best places to go when you want to pick someone up for a bit of fun!

Now a lay-by on a busy road doesn’t spring to mind as a great pick-up joint, but this particular pensioner(named Mr Cockerill) knew his stuff, and after attending a meeting far from home, decided that he could do with a bit of light relief. He set off with high hopes and was thrilled to find that another vehicle was already there.

Mr Cockerill could hardly contain his excitement and decided to introduce himself to his prospective partner. The truck driver, a man in his 40s we rather surprised to suddenly find a face at his open window, and thought that the aged gent was in need of some help.

Mr Cockerill, meanwhile had spotted the bunk in the cabin, and was anticipating a bit of comfort as well as passion, and gestured to the truck driver, the cosy cabin. Unfortunately, he was a bit slow on the uptake judging by his vacant expression, so Mr Cockerill decided that he had better make his intentions a little clearer.

He put his hands through the window and gently caressed his way to the prize he was hoping to get. No luck! The stunned recipient of his amorous advances, suddenly came to and ‘nudged’ Mr Cockerill’s hand out of the way. Although he was taught to respect his elders, the driver did not appreciate the groping and called the police!

They duly came out to arrest Mr Cockerill. Apparently the truck driver  was totally unaware of the reputation of the lay-by for fun and frolics, and he was there awaiting to be loaded up with pig feed! Hardly the most romantic of reasons!

Mr Cockerill had got it very wrong in his assumption that he would have a bit of ‘afternoon delight’ and has now ended up on the sex register!

You couldn’t make it up!

Episode 281: Horsing Around! — April 11, 2015

Episode 281: Horsing Around!

After the beautiful weather yesterday we had decided that we would have a BBQ today and invite the family over. We had tidied up the garden in preparation and were going out today to get the necessary supplies needed to feed a family of ‘good eaters!’

This morning I actually got up late for me and still felt tired. Mr Grump had already been out to walk the dog and I hadn’t even heard him get up. I went downstairs and looked out to see it was raining, and cold, and according to Mr Grump windy as well, Now I know this is typical British BBQ weather, but we decided that we would cancel it for another day.

Shopping still had to be done, so we finally got around to doing that after we had put our bets on for the ‘Grand National!’ Now we never usually do any betting here except for this one-off occasion. Usually some of the family like to gather together to watch it as we all have a go, and cheer on our horses.

My younger sister was going to come up and watch it with us, so we decided to put some bits on the BBQ anyway as her husband would come after work. Of course, because we had cancelled it the weather perked up a bit, but it was too late by then to get everyone to come.

Between us all we had a good few horses in the race to cheer on, but there were 20 fallers this year which is pretty awful really. Anyway, as our horses went one by one, out of the race, near the end the 2 of the ones Miss Hap picked were still in, one of mine and one of my sister’s. Needless to say mine so close to winning suddenly came 5th, my sister’s 4th and Miss Hap’s 3rd. She always picks the best horses every year.

Next year I will choose the same horses as her, as my technique of choosing horses with catchy names or pretty coloured jackets isn’t cutting it!

Daydreamer Challenge: Day 6: Questions From Other Bloggers. —

Daydreamer Challenge: Day 6: Questions From Other Bloggers.

Today is Day 6 of the Daydreamer Challenge hosted by the lovely Caitlin. Yesterday as part of the challenge, she wanted us to post questions we would like to pose to other bloggers. She has chosen a few of those including her own first question which we are to answer for today’s challenge.

My Question – Can you believe it is coming to the end of the daydreamer challenge? No I can’ actually. I have really enjoyed these challenges, interacting with the other  participants and finding out more about them. I will be sad to see the end of it. Maybe you would consider doing another one  in the future?

Just Call Me Elm Or Something – If you had the chance to meet one of your best internet friends/favourite blogger, would you be nervous before meeting them? I think it is always meeting someone new for the first time even if you had built up a great rapport online. I would worry that we would not get on or something in reality which would spoil a great online friendship. On the other hand, it was be fantastic to be able to meet up with some of the lovely bloggers that I have a real connection with.

Bubbakavangha – How do you describe your mind? Oh my poor mind. It is a bit ‘higgledy-piggledy’ to coin a phrase! I know i go off ion tangents at times and sometimes I forget what I was going to say completely, but I do try to bring some sort of order to it!

But I Smile Anyway– Would you like one of your posts to go viral? I dd answer this one on Ritu’s blog. Yes I would love one of my poems to go viral – but then would be worried that I wouldn’t be able to live up to it!

Silver Sparkling Stories – What’s your biggest fear? Death, I won’t dwell on it, but it is a huge fear for me.

A Random Person Called Annie – How did you feel after you posted your first ever post? Nervous and excited. I didn’t actually think that anyone was going to read it – but they did and I was thrilled.

One Sip At A Time – What’s your favourite phone app? I love to play Candy Crush on my phone/tablet as I find it a great stress reliever!

K.E Wilson – Where do you draw your inspiration? From life, work, family (that’s where I get most of it from), wacky or silly news. Anything that strikes me as funny really!

Lrod’s Blog – Would you rather have your blog go viral or keep t as it is (small audience)? I think many of us would like one of our posts to go viral. However, I have a wonderful group of people who follow my blog and who I love to interact that, No way would I want to lose the friendships I have made, so definitely keep it as is.

Gess Pressing Words – What is the most awkward situation you’ve ever been in? I have been in a few embarrassing situations mainly due to me clumsiness and ineptitude! Things like being signed off for things like would dressings etc where everything has to be kept as sterile as possible, and the equipment needed is all on a sterile field. I have been in the middle of the dressing and hit something onto the floor, whilst a senior nurse looks exasperated and I then have to get clean stuff and start again!

Sophie Speaks Up – If you could have someone’s blog for a month, whose blog would it be? Oooh, I don’t know really. There are so many bloggers that I admire that I could not just choose one.

Rogue Vogue – If you were to re-write the dictionary for the year 2030, what one word would you like to change the description of, and why? I would change the word ‘clumsy’. It would mean pleasantly pleasing, or highly talented or something!

Annemarie & Life – What is your favourite part of the day? (could be a time or an activity etc.) It has got to be early morning for me. I am a real early bird. I love the silence, and being on my own to wake up! I particularly like the early summer mornings with the back door open, sitting at my laptop with a cup of tea.

Dear Awesome Reader,

It’s Day 6 of the Daydreamer Challenge! Honestly, it’s gone sooo fast! ().

Yesterday, I asked you guys to write a question at the end of the post. This is because I wanted to write down every question and you can just answer them! Easy peasy! Also, check out the blogs that gave the questions because they’re awesome! 🙂

Blogging From A-Z Challenge: ‘J’ —

Blogging From A-Z Challenge: ‘J’

The Blogging from A-Z Challenge has now arrived at my favourite letter. Yes the letter ‘J.’ This is the letter of my first name, and is rather curvy just like me! It can be jokey, or even jealous, but my word for today has a fantastic ring to it..so without further ado, let me introduce to you……

Jiggery-pokery. Although it is a fun-sounding word, it is actually rather sneaky. It tricks you with its skullduggery and lulls you into its cunning lair.

It is the smiley clown that goes to shake hands with you, and either squirts water out of a fake flower at you, or electrocutes you with a hidden buzzer in his hand!

It is the magician performing a bit of hocus pocus by making his glamorous assistant disappear in a puff of smoke, kind of a word.

Politicians are pretty good at a bit of jiggery-pokery too with their cheesy grins, promising all sorts, yet delivering nothing! A bit like my posts really! 🙂

Daydreamer Challenge: Day 5: Achievements and Goals. —

Daydreamer Challenge: Day 5: Achievements and Goals.

Today for the Daydreamer Challenge, the lovely Caitlin has asked us to talk about our achievements and goals for our blogs. (If you have not already done so please check out her blog as it is filled with lots of good things).

I am stunned at  what I have achieved so far. I have only been blogging for about 6 months, and already have over 460 followers. More importantly than that, I have built up a real rapport with a number of fellow bloggers and would actually count them as my friends. I have loved interacting with them and reading their blogs too. There is so much to learn from each other.

My favourite posts of my own (seems a bit funny to say that) are usually my poems, like this one or my attempt at a Christmas Classic here.

Other achievements include writing a Haiku for the first time, and also taking part in various challenges, oh and choosing my favourite posts of the week to share on my Free-For-All Friday post.

My goals are just to keep writing, and hopefully bring a smile to someone’s face if I can. Although I have found that writing this blog has been very cathartic for me, especially in coping with my depression, it has turned into so much more, and I truly love blogging, and all that it entails.

My question is: Have you ever taken down a post because it offended someone?
