#Writespiration 52 Weeks in 52 Words Shoes — November 8, 2017

#Writespiration 52 Weeks in 52 Words Shoes

This week for Sacha’s #Writespiration challenge we are to write a day in the life of a pair of shoes. Not only that but we have to use only 52 words!

We may not be sexy and chic

Worn every day of the week

It’s comfort, not style

That makes us worthwhile

And the fact we don’t leak!

We never complain of our fate

Squashed beneath all her weight

Stomping all day long

Still going strong

Despite looking a bit of a state!

Writespiration # 83 – Blackout. — March 19, 2016

Writespiration # 83 – Blackout.

For this week’s Writespiration, Sacha has given us ‘blackout’- to use as our prompt. I wasn’t sure which way to go with it, but this is what I ended up with!

black-out-jpeg

As I sit there watching the big screen

All settled in for the night

Everything’s suddenly gone quiet

And someone has turned off the light.

The pitch black makes me feel nervous

I don’t like being here on my own

I can’t haven’t got any candles

And the where in the hell is my phone?

It feels like the set of a movie

Where the killer is hiding upstairs

Waiting until the right moment

To capture his prey, unawares

My heart is starting to race now

My throat is all parched and dry

I need to go to the toilet

And I’m just about ready to cry!

When, suddenly a massive explosion

Of light and sound dims my fears

I can relax and calm down now

As the opening credits appear.

Writespiration #82: Nostalgia That Hurts — March 4, 2016

Writespiration #82: Nostalgia That Hurts

nostalgia

This week for Sacha’s Writespiration prompt we are asked to write about nostalgia that hurt.  For obvious reasons this poem is a little more serious than my usual ones!

I thought my life was over

The day I walked away

Ten years down the drain

Nothing left to say

I gave you everything I had

My heart, my love, my soul

But, you had never loved me

Just wanted to be in control

The day that we got married

You said that I was fat

Just two guests at our wedding

It was over in 10 minutes flat!

Then you became possessive

And wracked with jealousy

Stupidly I was pleased

Thought it meant you cared for me

I always wanted children

 You said you wanted none

Yet an affair I found out later

Had produced your eldest son

I really tried to make it work

But I became so trodden down

The final straw was knowing

That your wife had come to town.

I left your life with nothing

But a few clothes that I packed

And the freedom to be me again

And to never, ever look back!

Writespiration #81 When something is not What it Seems. — February 24, 2016

Writespiration #81 When something is not What it Seems.

not-what-it-seems1

I loved the prompt for Sacha’s Writespiration  this week, where we are to write about when something is not what it seems!

Tonight he’s feeling lucky

As he chats to the blonde at the bar

She really is a stunner

The best looking girl by far

Her boobs are pert and rounded

Her teeth so pearly white

With hair so long and lustrous

And a bum so firm and tight.

They leave the bar together

And end up at her place

He knows what’s about to happen

And his heart begins to race

He starts to kiss her deeply

And his hands begin to roam

It was not what he expected

When he encounters silicone!

He moves on swiftly upwards

And runs his hands all through her hair

But it feels all hard and bumpy

With the extensions that are there!

His ardour is now waning

As he gropes her peachy bum

And encounters control knickers

That hide a wobbly tum!

This is not what he signed up for

There must be some mistake

This perfect looking woman

Was really just all fake!

WRITESPIRATION #80 UTOPIA — February 19, 2016

WRITESPIRATION #80 UTOPIA

utopia

For this week’s Writepiration Challenge  Sacha has asked us to write about ‘Utopia’ and what it means to us.

I actually struggled with this, as although the idea of Utopia is brilliant in theory, I am not sure it would actually be that wonderful in reality. A case of being ‘careful what you wish for’ comes to mind!

Anyway, here is my take on it.

There is no such thing as Utopia

But if there was, for me it would be

Days filled with beautiful sunshine

And home would be right by the sea.

There would be no sickness or hunger

Crime would never exist

No wars, struggles, or conflicts

Or hospital waiting lists!

Everyone would be equal

Regardless of colour or creed,

Gender and sexual preference.

There would be no children in need.

But what if life were so perfect?

With never a worry or fear

Nothing to strive or save up for

Everything you need is right here.

Being constantly happy

With everything going your way

May get kind of boring

Like a Utopian Groundhog Day!

WRITESPIRATION #79 WRITE ABOUT THE EDGE — February 11, 2016

WRITESPIRATION #79 WRITE ABOUT THE EDGE

write-about-the-edge-copy1

For Sacha’s Writespiration this week, I was trying to think about when I was ‘on the edge’ as that is her prompt, then I remembered something very special, an event that happened when I was about seventeen.

After you have read it for the first time, you might want to go back and sing it, as it might make more sense! (I don’t want to give it away right now)!

It’s close to midnight

And something special’s just about to start

I’m so excited

I can feel the rapid pounding of my heart

I’ve stayed up late

Just so I can watch this special moment

Never before

Had something like this happened on tv

Only in movies!

Yes it was Thriller, Thriller night

And I was sitting there, right on the edge of my seat

You know, killer, Thriller night

The moment had arrived and it was

Perfect, amazing, that niiiiiight

Zombies and undead,

creeping from their graves in the dead of night

Michael and Ola,

Walking home under the full moonlight

He starts to change

But first of all, she doesn’t seem to notice

Then he looks strange

As she looks at him

Right between the eyes

He’d been Zombified!

Yes, it was Thriller, Thriller night…..

writespiration-76 F*** Balls, Grow a Vagina — January 20, 2016

I loved Sacha’s post today combining her 1000 speak and Writespiration prompts. Her mini rant on the expression ‘grow some balls’ set me off as well, and I decided that my contribution would be a poem on this subject. I then realised that actually, the prompt was to write about a struggle, but never mind, I think it still fits!

A quick word of warning. If you are offended by references to genitalia then this might not be for you!

When it’s time to’ man up’

We are told to ‘grow to a pair’

Balls will make us stronger

But that’s not very fair!

Why are they so special?

To make us act so tough

In those awful moments

When life gets really rough.

Gonads are quite tender

And one kick in the jewels

Can render someone helpless

Plus make them look such fools!

 Women are much stronger

There are no ifs and buts.

We have to push a child out

Despite the rips and cuts

You don’t find women fretting

On having to wear a box

Scared that being sporty

Will break their precious cocks!

If you want to show some strength

Balls are pretty minor

I suggest you ‘woman up’

Grow yourself a  vagina!

#WRITESPIRATION 75 WRITE ABOUT THE RUSTY THING — January 13, 2016

#WRITESPIRATION 75 WRITE ABOUT THE RUSTY THING

Write about the rusty thing

Sacha has given us the prompt of ‘rusty’ this week for her Writespiration challenge. I didn’t feel that I would be able to come up with a story this time, so I have gone with a poem instead.

I am pretty rubbish at English

And Maths was never my thing

I was always bewildered by Science

As for Music, I never could sing!

I was totally lost in Geography

History was never that clear

Religious Studies were hopeless

PE had me quaking in fear!

French was not my best subject

And Spanish I had not a clue

Cookery was never my forte

And Art was disastrous too!

So when my daughter struggles with homework

And asks me to help if I could

I tell her that I am a ‘bit rusty’

Rather than I’m just not very good!
