Free-For-All Friday! — January 8, 2016

Free-For-All Friday!

Welcome to the first Free-For-All Friday of 2016.  Yes, it’s back! There are so many wonderful blogs out there and it would be a shame if you have missed out on them. I have chosen some posts this week that have had an impact on me one way or another, that I thought I would share. Please visit all of these wonderful blogs if you haven’t already done so.

KL Register  A short poem beautifully written, that I’m sure will resonate with so many of you.

Confusing Middle A bit of silliness that made me roar my head off!

Scribbles At Arpita This post was an interview with an extremely funny blogger who never fails to make me laugh. The interviewer asks just the right questions to set it all off perfectly 🙂

Wafflemethis. Who said chivalry was dead? A real old-fashioned love poem.

Van By The River something we are all familiar with – but perhaps a new perspective will make us see it in a new light?

So there you are. A small selection of delights for you to feast upon this week. Enjoy!

Happy Friday!

Just Jot It January 5th – 2016 — January 5, 2016

Just Jot It January 5th – 2016

We have an interesting prompt for Linda’s Just Jot it January today, ‘2016.’ I don’t tend to think too far ahead ass regards to planning out my year, being more the type of person who sees where life takes me.However, there are a few things that I would like to this year. I

However, there are a few things that I would like to this year. I already have the idea for a follow-on novel to the one I wrote for NaNoWriMo, and it would be wonderful if I could manage to write that, bearing in mind, there is still a lot of work left to do on the original one.

I have my 50th birthday coming up next month and still have no clue of how I am going to celebrate that. I aam not one of those dare-devil types that wants to bungee jump or skydive or something. In fact, being terrified of heights, I can think of nothing worse. I would actually like to survive whatever experience I undertake!

I know I need to take more care of my health this year, both physical and mental. I have to face up to the fact that I need to stay on my meds for depression, and not to cut it right down when I think I am feeling better! I also need to keep my blood sugars under control. It still actually hasn’t sunk in properly that I am diabetic, and I really do have to watch what I eat!

I always enjoy new challenges so will continue to join in with whatever bloggy ones take my fancy. I also love taking the little mini courses run by ‘Open University’ to broaden my knowledge. I have an unquenchable thirst for learning new things, and I want to learn a bit about photography so that I can use mostly my own pictures on my blog.

Whatever this year brings, one thing is for sure, you will probably end up reading about it on my blog!

Ready to Welcome the New Year. — December 31, 2015

Ready to Welcome the New Year.

Well, what a year 2015 turned out to be for me. It has certainly been a time of change and trying new challenges. I left my job at the hospital after five and a half years and found a new job working out in the community, visiting people in their homes.

I also took part in the NaNoWriMo in November and completed my very first novel. Well, it is not exactly complete as there is still lots more editing left to do! As yet, I am not sure how far I am going to go with it, but it would be a dream fulfilled to get it published, (should it be worthy of course).

The one thing that has been consistent throughout all the ups and downs of this year has been my blog and you, my wonderful blogging friends. You have been there to offer comfort, encouragement, advice, and support. I have laughed, cried and learned lots from your various posts as well.  You never cease to amaze and surprise me. The way we all pull together at times is something I am extremely proud of. No matter what time of day or night, I know there is always someone here I can talk to, and interact with, regardless of subject matter.

I have not set that many goals for 2016, but for those of you that have, I wish you every success in achieving them. I wish every one of you health, love and happiness in 2016 and I am looking forward to continuing to share your journeys, as you share mine!

Cheers! 🍷🍷🍷🎇🎇

2015 in review — December 30, 2015

2015 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2015 annual report for this blog.

I would just like to say ‘Thank you’ to  everybody that visited my blog in 2015. I appreciate all your likes and comments, and the fact that you stopped by to read one of my posts.

As I am an ‘off the cuff’ kind of a girl, I am not sure whar I will be doing with my blog in 2016! I know that my ‘Free-for-all Friday’ is very popular as they were some of my most viewed posts, so they will be staying. I love taking part in challenges so will be continuing with those, particularly Ronovan’s and TJ’s Haiku challenges that I have become addicted to. I am also going to take part of Linda’s  ‘Just Jot it January’ posts. I will also have a go at anything else that comes along and takes my fancy.

So, in a nutshell, what you can expect from me in 2016 is more randomness, more silliness, a sprinkling of poems – and whatever else comes to mind!

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 35,000 times in 2015. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 13 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

Back to Civilisation! — December 22, 2015

Back to Civilisation!

Router

I know that I am on the Internet a lot, but I didn’t actually realise how much I relied on it until Sunday when it broke!  Occasionally it plays up a bit, but after a quick flick off and on of the router, we are back in business and all is well.

Not so, on Sunday. I did the power off and on thing, and a red light came on. That was new. I tried logging on. Computer said no! I did it again, same thing. I unplugged more cables, then plugged them all back in. Nope! Damn it! I got Mr Grump on the case, and he fiddled around with wires and cables. Nowt! Sod it!

I phoned up, finally got to speak to someone miles away, went through the rigmarole of turning off, unplugging and all the stuff we did before, plus a few new things. Zip. Bugger it!

There followed a series of phone calls, unfulfilled promises and bad-tempered tantrums (from me as well as Miss Hap) as we struggled in vain to get it working. Added to this, out phone signals are pretty rubbish, but Mr Grump has a booster thing that gives us full signal and therefore, 4G, but it is powered by….you guess it, The INTERNET! Shit to it!

Now on Mondays, I like to join in with Ronovan’s Haiku Challenge  I actually look forward to seeing what words he comes up with, and also looking at other people’s. I couldn’t get a decent signal long enough to read what the prompts were, let alone write a post.

Not only that but my windscreen was being fixed today,  which I had waited for ages for. I had to show them the insurance policy when they arrived. I have an ONLINE Policy. Plus I was being e-mailed a questionnaire for a telephone appointment I have soon which I had to send back this morning by email. FUCK it!

Yesterday, Mr Grump could bear it no longer and went to get some advice from somewhere in town! Meanwhile, I phoned the internet company again nagging at them, so they agreed to send a new router, which is where the fault lay. They informed me it would probably take a week to arrive. FUCKITY, BLOODY, BUGGER, SHIT and BOLLOCKS to it all!

Mr Grump did something when he got in yesterday to that booster thing, and we had 4G! YAY! Now I had the internet. Trying to post from my tablet with my sausage fingers and predictive text took longer than I expected, but I did it.

This morning at around 7 am, I had a text from Royal Mail informing me that they had a package from TalkTalk that they would deliver today. Yipee, my lovely new router came, and Mr Grump had it set up pronto!

Peace has resumed!

Free-For-All Friday — December 18, 2015

Free-For-All Friday

This will be my last Free-for-All-Friday for this year, due to it being Christmas and New Year, but I am sure it (or something like it) will be making an appearance next year!

I have got a sackful of treats for you to feast upon and I urge you to pay each of these blogs a visit. They have loads of delights in store for you, so go and have a poke about.

Twisted Short Stories Bee is back! This  blog needs no introduction as the name rather gives it away, but suffice to say, she has a dark mind, and a brilliant way of telling gripping short stories, many with a macabre edge to them!

Beyond The Picket Fence I always love to look at things from a different perspective and this post is totally opposite to how I am (although it is how I wanted to be)!!!

Myths of the Mirror This is a great post with a wonderful message. That video was just what I needed to see this week. Brilliant.

Hummingbird Redemption Life is so fragile, and being at the wrong place at the wrong time can be catastrophic. This post is a reminder to live life.

Suzie Speaks This is a lovely story. There are still some wonderful people  around, thank goodness, as there are also some idiots still!

So there you have your little stocking filler to keep you going for a while.

Wishing you Happy Holidays!

Free For All Friday. — December 11, 2015

Free For All Friday.

It is already  Friday again!  The weeks are flying by so quickly at the moment, I can hardly keep up. The year has almost gone as well now with only a few more Fridays left.

I have found a few more posts for you about a variety of subjects which I am sure are going to impact on you in some way as they did on me.

Roughwighting We all love a compliment and this post shows that others may see us  differently than we see ourselves!

SD Gates This post is a very sad reflection of the times we live in. Unfortunately, though it is something that needs to be considered.

The V-Pub  Another reflection on the times we live in, and a very poignant song to go with it.

Nick Verron  I have not highlighted a particular post here for several reasons. This blog is not very old yet, and there are only a few posts, BUT they are all wonderful. This man is an absolute wonder! Talk about inspirational, this blog is the epitome of it.

So there you have my wonderful choices for this week. Please take a moment to visit these blogs if you haven’t already done so as they have so much to offer.

Happy Friday!

A Heartfelt Thank You — December 8, 2015

A Heartfelt Thank You

Just a short post to thank all of you who follow my blog. I have now reached 1000 followers and am thrilled.

I know it may sound clichéd, but it really is not so much the number of readers that I have, it is the interactions that I have with some of you that makes it so special.

I do love a bit of banter and I get plenty of that, I love to laugh, some of you have me in stitches, you are so funny. I love to learn things, many of you have taught me things, whether it be about blogging, photography or taking part in NaNoWriMo! I enjoy a good story or poem, which I get from you. To put it in a nutshell, between you, I get a good laugh, shed a few tears, become outraged, stretch my brain cells (taking part in some of your challenges), and am inspired by the challenges so many of you have overcome.

The most important thing of all that you have given me, though, is your time; time to read my ramblings, time to comment on something, time to explain something to me, time for encouragement. This I truly appreciate, especially as it is in such short supply.

So, I just want to say again.

THANK YOU! 🙂

Free-For-All Friday — December 4, 2015

Free-For-All Friday

This week has been yet another manic one, and I have been really pushed for time, especially as a couple of evenings were cut short by me falling asleep way before 9 pm! What a rock n roll lifestyle I lead!

Anyway here are a couple of posts  that caught my eye that I wanted to share with you. Please visit their blogs as they have so much more to share with you.

A Cooking Pot and Twisted Tales  This was a great post. Jacqui has her own unique style and a wonderful way with words.

A New Perspective Perhaps A heart-warming story which has come at the right time, to bring back a little faith in humankind.

Short but very sweet this week.

Happy Friday!

Friday Free-For-All — October 30, 2015

Friday Free-For-All

I have got a wonderful selection of blogs for you this week (as always) for my Friday Free-For-All. I will, however, be taking a break during November in order to try and focus on NaNoWriMo. This might be a convenient point to gauge whether or not I should continue with this feature, or try something new! I have put a little poll in so you can vote,

Anyway, back to the brilliant blogs I found for you this week. In keeping with the spirit of Halloween, I have a couple of spooky posts for you. I also have some lighthearted posts and one that I found particularly inspirational. Please pop over to these blogs for a visit and see what else they have in store for you, you won’t be disappointed!

Daily Echo This post by Sue really made me think. She has a certain way of putting things that makes perfect sense! I found this very inspirational.

Thoughts and Entanglements I loved this poem, It was so evocative, I felt that I was right there!

But I Smile Anyway I just had to include this, by the ever resourceful Ritu! Her daughter is a chip off the old block too, it seems!

Aliisaacstoryteller A perfect poem for the time of year. Ali tells a wonderful, if not poignant story here that I really enjoyed.

Myfridayblog Another spooky poem, this time with a very unusual ending!

Thestoryreadingapeblog This post here was written by a very feisty little four-legged  friend who is extremely brave!

So there you have your little collection of treats. I am not tricking when I tell you that they will keep you entertained this Haloween wekend!

Happy Friday!!
