Free-For-All Friday

This week has been yet another manic one, and I have been really pushed for time, especially as a couple of evenings were cut short by me falling asleep way before 9 pm! What a rock n roll lifestyle I lead!

Anyway here are a couple of posts  that caught my eye that I wanted to share with you. Please visit their blogs as they have so much more to share with you.

A Cooking Pot and Twisted Tales  This was a great post. Jacqui has her own unique style and a wonderful way with words.

A New Perspective Perhaps A heart-warming story which has come at the right time, to bring back a little faith in humankind.

Short but very sweet this week.

Happy Friday!

Episode 478: It’s all about Perspective. — August 31, 2015

Episode 478: It’s all about Perspective.

I just had to share this story with you which you might have already seen on Facebook as it has been doing the rounds there at the moment.

A 21-year-old woman had her leg tattooed with the words ‘I’m fine’ which is depicted in the picture on the left. Now this might seem a rather odd thing to have tattooed onto your skin, but its message is much more than just those words.

As you can see from the image on the right, the same tattoo read from the woman’s viewpoint reads ‘save me.’ The reason for this is that she unfortunately  suffers from  depression, and although might look fine to others, is actually feeling far from it.

She wanted to show just how appearances can be so deceptive, as a person with depression does not necessarily go moping about with a  sad face! In fact, I know from experience that I have tried to act as normal, cracking jokes and keeping up with conversations, when I have actually just wanted to go home and back into my little ‘cocoon.’

The whole point of her getting the tattoo was to share it publicly, in order to raise awareness of depression and somehow lessen the stigma that is often attached to it. I don’t know what you think, but from my perspective it is a pretty clever way of drawing attention to condition that is so often misunderstood, and not taken seriously enough.

Free-For-All Friday #25

The week has whizzed by again and here we are for another roundup of some fantastic posts that have caught my eye this week, and it is a real mixed bag of treats for you. There is humour, sadness, wisdom and wit in abundance for your delectation. I highly recommend visiting these blogs, because they all have a variety of other posts that are just as wonderful.

Myths of the Mirror This is a post that I think many of us can relate to. Not only do I love the humourous way it is written, I can’t imagine how I would feel if I were in the position where I was taking a break for a week!

The 9th Life A thought-provoking post that makes us look at things in a different way – literally!

Shawn Bird An absolutely brilliant poem from a different perspective. It very cleverly makes a point albeit a very polite one compared to what most of us would have liked to have said if we had been in this position!

TanGentle I loved this post. Geoff had this way of writing that is just so funny. Although I have never met him (I hope to at the next Bloggers Bash), I just know he is going to make me laugh constantly with his dry humour.

Silver Threading This was another excellent poem but in a totally different way. The image that goes with it matches perfectly. I have been in this position and this poem sums it up so well.

My Travels With Depression. This post was quite remarkable yet bittersweet. I don’t want to say anymore and spoil it, but it was amazing.

Ben’s Bitter Blog This post is something I like to moan at, but from the other side of the argument! I have to say, the humorous way he has written it, has almost made me change my mind!

These wonderful posts should keep you all highly entertained this weekend.

Happy Friday!

Episode 456: Free-For-All Friday #24

This week has been a little topsy-turvy for me as I have done a couple of night shifts which I don’t usually do. and as a result, have not had as much time as I would have liked to dedicate to my blog. or anyone else’s.

However, despite only having a couple of blogs this week, they are well worth a mention, and definitely worth a visit.

Terri Webster Schrandt This post is a great story which touched my heart.

Yesterday After I have not long been following this blog, but there is so much to see there. I love pretty things and this post is beautiful.

Just a little to tickle your fancy this week!

Happy Friday. 🙂

10 Years A Single Mom A heartfelt and heartwarming post from a loving mother. This blog is all about spreading the love!

John D Eccles This post did make me laugh. I like the style it is written in, and the self-deprecating humour. The poor hapless husband, who tries hard!

Fill Your Own Glass The lovely and wise Karen has written a great post here which, although makes lots of sense, many of us still do not put it into practice.

Little Miss Menopause This post, although not on Stephanie’s actual blog, was written by her for an online article. It is a beautiful story of a real act of love.

Runaway Nuns And Leprechauns A fun post that I really enjoyed. so cute!

Free-For-All Friday: #18

It’s Friday!! We are in the midst of a heatwave over in the good old UK, so it’s hot, hot, hot!

I have found a few great blogs for you to peruse this week (unfortunately, time has  been a bit limited so there are not as many as I would like). I still have 2 wonderful stories for you, one hilarious experience we can all relate to, and a very witty observation.

Smorgasbord. This was really beautiful and touching story, that was told in such a wonderful way, it really came to life.

Homemade Naturally As you know I love a bit of Flash Fiction and I thought this was a clever take on the photo prompt!

Barrow Blogs This post form one of Judith’ s Creative Writing students had me wiping the tears from my eyes with laughter. It is something most of us can relate to as well.

Dandelion Fuzz This list is very funny and observational. I love Kat’s style of writing and sense of humour.

So there you have a few little treasures to unearth over the weekend. All of these blogs are worth checking out as they each have so much more to them than the posts I have chosen for this week.

Happy Friday!

By the way, If anyone else wants to share something that they have particularly enjoyed, then by all means leave a link and we can go to check it out. This week I have some great thoughts on different topics for you to ponder over.

Lilypupslife This blog is written by Lily who is living and coping with Bipolar. This post I  thought really interesting as it is good to know what others think about things.

Reflections. This is another great post giving advice. I use this programme myself (not to its fullest potential as I do not understand it completely yet, but another read of this post should sort me out)!

Tales From The Family Crypt This is when truth really is stranger than fiction – but is it ‘too good to be true’

A Prompt Reply. There has been a challenge going around which has provoked some wonderful posts. I really liked this one as I have had first-hand experience of the effects!

Aimer Boyz This is a blog that I have recently started following, I really like. We definitely have a similar sense of humour!

So there you have your little weekly treat. Enjoy and have a very happy Friday!

Free-For-All Friday #11 — May 22, 2015

Free-For-All Friday #11

It’s Friday which means it is time to share my favourite posts of the last week. I have got a great selection for your enjoyment and all of the blogs are well worth a visit.

Behind the White Coat  This post takes me back a few years before all of the Health and Safety rules and regulations; when kids were kids and played without worrying about getting hurt!

My Travels With Depression I have been following this blog for quite a while and find that we have a very similar sense of humour. This post really made me laugh as It is a situation I can imagine myself being in.

My Friday Blog Josh has a habit of telling things exactly as they are! He has strong views that I do not always totally agree with but in this post he totally hits the nail on the head!

The Off Key Of Life I really admire George for writing this post. He is a real gentleman that does not like to see laddish and loutish behaviour towards women.

Hugh’s Views and News  I have been following Hugh for quite a while now and he is one of the nicest people around, This post is very topical, and I love Hugh’s enthusiasm as well as optimism!

The V-Pub  I have not been following this blog for very long but it is always consistently good! Rob is quite a character and very funny.

Free-For-All Friday #10

Welcome to my Friday Free-For-All, the 10th one already! There have been some more wonderful posts this week which I would like to share with you. As usual, I have tried to choose a variety of different  blogs which are all brilliant in their own way. Please do go and check them all out.

runawaynunsandleprechauns This is rather a funny little poem that really made me laugh. It is short and sweet and I know you will enjoy it, especially if you are a dog lover.

Dublin Housewife This is another hilarious post from the wonderful Bernie Rose! I just love her style of writing; she is witty, and really brings her conversations to life.

A Momma’s View This post is a reminder to us all really. It may seem pretty obvious, but the point needs to be re-iterated as it does not seem to be sinking in for some people, which is a terrible shame.

The Indecisive Eejit I included this post because I could really resonate with the frustration felt here. Sometimes, despite our best efforts we still can’t seem to get anywhere. I really admire this blogger and have the utmost respect for her.

But I Smile Anyway. Ritu is one of the most creative and talented people around. I don’t know how she fits everything into her day, and manage to stay so cheerful and bright. She is also an inspirational teacher who any child would be lucky to have.

Chronicles of an Orange-Haired Woman This is a blog that I have only just started following, however it has so much to offer, This particular post I can identify with so much!

I hope you all enjoy these posts as much as I did. Have a wonderful Friday!

Free- For-All Friday #5 — April 10, 2015

Free- For-All Friday #5

Hello and welcome to my Friday Free For-All, we are on week five already! I have been busy reading lots of blogs and choosing my favourite posts for this week. As per usual, I would urge you to check out these wonderful blogs. They all have so much to offer, and I have tried to choose different types of posts that will appeal to you as they did me.

Please feel free to leave links to anything that you have come across, that you think others might also enjoy. I have had some lovely comments on here from people who have found new blogs to follow which is thrilling to hear, and I hope that continues to be the case.

So here are some posts that caught my eye this week:

Wild Daffodil. This post was lovely in so many ways. As you all probably know by now, I love words, and actually I like photos as well. Combine the two and you have a delightful, and funny post.

Dublin Housewife This blog I came across via the Blogging From A-Z Challenge I have been taking part in. Bernie is so funny, I just didn’t know which of her posts to choose as they all had me doubled up with laughter! She likes to use conversations she had with people which will have you rocking! She might use the odd swear word, just so you know!

The Offkey Of Life This post is one of those that make you think very carefully. We are all so quick to judge, and write people off. We forget that there is so much more to people than meets the eye, and we can in fact, learn something from them.

The Return of The Modern Philosopher. This blog I have not been following all that long, but it has so much going on! There are jokes, blog parties, even poems. I have chosen this post because I love the way it flows, and I love the message right at the end of it! Very touching.

Hugh’s Views and News – This is another blog that has a lot going on! Hugh is funny, very supportive of other bloggers and extremely helpful, giving out advice without getting cross at my ignorance! His blog has everything from Haikus to short stories, which is what i have chosen for this week. It is a beautiful, heart-warming story which I thoroughly enjoyed!

An Armchair Perfectionist Prajakta has written a really happy, inspirational post here about something that to me, is frankly hard to get excited about! However, such is her enthusiasm, it really shines through how much she enjoys it and how good it makes her feel. Lovely, cheery post.

Joeyfully Stated I have been following this blog for a while now. Joey writes about all sorts of things, She is funny, witty, sarcastic, and extremely articulate! I thought this post was really nice. It was something we can all relate to written in a down to earth style.

A Prompt Reply. I loved this post. It just goes to show that if you look hard enough there is beauty to be found. It is an optimistic look at what is around and being grateful for it!
