Episode 472: Wacky Word Wednesday #16.

Wednesday is here again so soon, and I have been toying with a couple of words this week that have caught my fancy. The one I have settled on, is a word that seems to have a comical air about it before it has even been applied to anything. although it is not something that I would want flung in my direction!

Flabby. This word is flaccid and floppy, droopy and dangling, It is that loose bit of skin under your arms that is wiggly and jiggly, wobbling about like a party jelly that has only just set, and is desperate to slide off the plate.

Years ago when I had attempted to make Yorkshire pudding, my efforts were described as ‘flabby’ by a male friend of my sister’s! This could have been due to the fact that it was rather limp and lacklustre!

Being a bit out of shape, and rather baggy and saggy myself, this word aptly describes my figure!

Episode 464. Wacky Word Wednesday #15

Wednesday is here which means it is time to pay tribute to, and celebrate another weird, wacky or wonderful word. Today I have chosen one that, although still used frequently, has a light and fluffy texture to it, that always brings a smile to my face.

Kerfuffle. This word is causing a commotion or creating chaos. It is getting mixed up in the middle of a melee or fighting your way out of a fracas.

Causing a rumpus, starting a scrimmage, or even bickering and brawling, this word likes to get in the thick of the action. It is a free-for-all fight or feud that anyone is welcome to take part in.

This word is the result of a few drinks on a Saturday night in my local town centre!

Episode 453: Wacky Word Wednesday #14

Woo-hoo, it’s Wednesday again and time to polish up another word that it can shine in the spotlight. I seem to have already got a bit of a theme going this week, so will continue in the same vein. I am sure it is of no surprise to you that this week’s word is..

Debauchery. Yes, let’s go on a bender and have a blowout with this word; live life in the fast lane and burn the candle at both ends. It is gluttony, gorging on goodies, an orgy of overindulgence and feasting on festivities.

Getting down and dirty in the depths of depravity, frolicking and fornicating. It is having your cake and eating it – as well as everyone else’s. Drinking and dancing, revelling in ribaldry, a lusting for life!

Actually, it sounds like a bloody good night out to me!

Episode 445: Wacky Word Wednesday #13

After a bit of a grumpy start to the week, I am glad that it is now Wednesday and I can cheer myself up by dusting off a word that I haven’t heard for ages, but it just makes me laugh when I do. I tried it out on Mr Grump a couple of times as well, by calling him it (not that he was impressed; still, I enjoyed it). This teeny little word says it all……

Berk. This is such a silly word, looking a right Charlie if you ask me. A foolish fathead who is a bit of a wally; a nincompoop, numpty or even a knob.

This clueless clot is a dunderhead to say the least. they blunder around blithering and blathering and generally acting the buffoon. It is normally harmless and inoffensive just blissfully ignorant. Acting like a prat and being a bit of a plank is par for the course!

I seem to have quite a lot in common with this word! 🙂

Episode 434: Wacky Word Wednesday #12 — July 29, 2015

Episode 434: Wacky Word Wednesday #12

Oh I do love a Wednesday, especially when I have dug up another gem of a word to share with you, and play about with. Today’s is particularly funny as I was unaware of its origin, and on finding out what it could be, added to my delight. So let me re-acquaint you with…..

Codswallop. Yes, it is a wonderful word that is not given enough chance to shine. Now those origins,  ‘cods’ are apparently testicles and ‘wallop’ of course is to smack or hit. Presumably in days gone by if someone was caught telling lies they would get a swift smack in the goolies to discourage them from doing it again!

As you have probably guessed if you did not know already, that this word is a load of cobblers, total piffle, not to mention poppycock! It is balderdash, and bullshit,  hogwash and horseshit, and just plain old shit, shit!

People who talk mumbo-jumbo, fiddle-faddle and a load of bollocks! They blather and babble about stuff and nonsense, and utter tripe.

Actually, I am not surprised this word originated from a clout to the nethers!

Episode 426: Wacky Word Wednesday #11 — July 22, 2015

Episode 426: Wacky Word Wednesday #11

Hooray,  it is Wednesday which means it must be time to unearth an underused word, dust it off, and give it an outing. Today’s word is wonderful,in its own right but also because it has so many wonderful synonyms too.

Unctuous. Oooh what a slimy, slippery word this is, bowing and scraping sycophantically.  It creeps and crawls, grovelling in its greasiness culminating in a cringe worthy display of ass kissing, bum sucking, gushing at its absolute worst!

It is insipidly insincere; this flattery and fawning is too subservient and self-serving, not to mention nauseating and naff!

Episode 416: Wacky Word Wednesday #10 — July 15, 2015

Episode 416: Wacky Word Wednesday #10

Can you believe that it is week 10 already of my wacky word Wednesday. I have really enjoyed doing these as they are such fun. Today I have got a bit of a rude word for you, but it sounds so funny and always makes me laugh. It has several meanings as well so a pretty versatile word all round.

Bollocks. Well doesn’t that just roll off the tongue nicely. This word is so much nicer than gonads and testes, balls and even plums. A kick in the bollocks has a much better sound to it!

This word is also babbling balderdash, meaningless mumbo jumbo, and nothing but nonsense!

What about the mutt’s nuts? This word is primped and polished, stylish and smart, in fact, perfectly pukka!

Lastly, this word used as a verb without the ‘s’ is very stern and severe, giving a good telling off, not to mention a tongue-lashing! A reproof and reprimand of the highest order

It is also one of my favourite words.

Episode 407: Wacky Word Wednesday #9 — July 8, 2015

Episode 407: Wacky Word Wednesday #9

I am in the mood for another wacky, weird or wonderful word, and seeing as it is Wednesday, I’m in luck as I can get to resurrect one that is not used often enough. Today’s offering, sounds very old-fashioned and rather lofty, but I love it.

Flabbergast. This word amazes and dazes, confounds and dumbfounds. It’s a ‘you could have knocked me down with at feather’ type of word; shock and surprise follows it wherever it goes. In fact in can be strong enough to startle or stun the unsuspecting.

It is news that can appal and enthrall, as well as overawe, being both frightful and delightful.  Hmmm, that sounds a bit like me, depending what mood I am in!

Episode 406 : Tuesday Tidbit – Euphemisms 18+ — July 7, 2015

Episode 406 : Tuesday Tidbit – Euphemisms 18+

For today’s Tidbit post, I have decided to forego writing a poem as I have done for the previous couple of Tuesdays, and have decided to go for a bit of humour instead. (This heatwave is already far too hot for me to be adding it, by writing anything too raunchy)!

What I thought I would do is write a few of the popular euphemisms for sex that we use. be they coy or coarse, just for a bit of fun!

Rumpy-pumpy, and hanky-panky. – They sound so childish but I do love a rhyme.

Having a bit of ‘how’s your father’ – Very Carry On!

Slap and tickle – This sounds a little on the 50 Shades spectrum if you ask me!

Assault with a friendly weapon – God, how cringeworthy!

Bonking or humping – these just make me laugh.

Shagging – Yeah Baby! Very Austin Powers.

Making looooove – That always seems a bit smarmy to me, and a bit too smooth, very Mills and Boon! (I am more of a Jilly Cooper/Jackie Collins type of girl myself)!!!

Rogering – Very British!

Shafting or screwing – these sound too painful, as well as a bit DIY!

Dipping the wick – Sounds gross!

Which one is your favourite, or is it something totally different?

Episode 399: Wacky Word Wednesday #8 — July 1, 2015

Episode 399: Wacky Word Wednesday #8

It’s Wednesday, time to have a bit of fun with a wacky, weird or wonderful word (or perhaps all three)! It’s going to be a sizzling hot day today apparently, but I have decided not to get all hot and bothered with a raunchy word. No, I am going to keep things cool, with a great word that has an almost comedic ring to it.

Ramshackle. This is a bit of a rundown and rickety word; dilapidated and derelict, like an old ruin, crumbling and collapsing, teetering and tottering on the brink of breaking down into tiny fragments.

It is flimsy and frail, wobbly and worn-out, neglected and quite frankly knackered! Actually it sounds a lot like me! 🙂
